Chapter 432 Negotiating Terms
Dione glanced at Margaret, then at Juniper. "Samuel needs you right now. The doctors are working on him, and you know how much he cares about you. Your presence could really help him."
"What's wrong with Samuel? Why is he in the ER? I'm going over there right now!"
Juniper immediately tried to yank out her IV needle, desperate to get to Samuel, but Margaret held her back.
"What are you doing? Didn't you hear what the doctor said? When are you going to start taking care of yourself?"
"Margaret, but Samuel, he..."
"Are you a doctor? Do you think he'll magically get better just because you show up?"
Margaret's words calmed Juniper down. She knew Juniper was worried. Margaret continued to comfort her, "I know you're anxious, but what can you do besides worry? Wouldn't it be better to take care of yourself? Do you think Samuel wants to see you like this?"
Margaret gently squeezed Juniper's hand, guiding her to follow her lead.
Juniper nodded, looked up at the IV bag, and said, "Mrs. Hall, Margaret is right. If I go now, I'll just be in the way and won't be able to help. Samuel would want me to take care of myself."
"The IV will be done soon. I'll go over as soon as it's finished."
Dione let out a frustrated sigh. It was clear Juniper was trying to negotiate.
This troublemaker! Even with Samuel in the ER, you can't bear to pull out a needle? Do you listen to your friend over everything?
She held back her anger, knowing she needed Juniper's help.
"Samuel is in this condition because of you. Don't you feel any guilt? Pulling out a needle is too much for you? He's in danger right now!"
Hearing Samuel's name, Juniper couldn't control herself and wanted to rush over.
Margaret's grip on her arm tightened, reminding her to stay calm.
Juniper gritted her teeth and said, "Mrs. Hall, I do feel guilty, but you were the one who kicked me out earlier. The doctor also told me to take care of myself."
"You..." Dione was furious, slamming the door in frustration. This troublemaker was turning the tables on her?
Margaret added, "Mrs. Hall, I know you're worried about Samuel, and so is Juniper. Otherwise, she wouldn't have stayed here for days. But you just kicked her out, and now you're urgently calling her back. Isn't that too much?"
"If Samuel gets better later, do you want her to stay or not? If she stays, you get annoyed. If she doesn't, then..."
"She's carrying the Hall family's child. A pregnant woman can't be constantly stressed. If you keep calling her and then kicking her out, it will affect the baby."
Dione looked at Margaret and Juniper. "Are you two trying to negotiate with me?"
Was she someone who could be threatened?
With Samuel's condition unknown, she was desperate, so she reluctantly agreed.
"If Samuel recovers, I won't oppose your relationship. But during this time, you must stay by his side and take care of him. Understand?"
Juniper nodded eagerly. "Okay!"
"Where is Samuel now?"
"In his room."
With that, Juniper pulled out her needle and ran to Samuel's room, brushing past Dione on the way.
Dione didn't mind and quickly followed.
Margaret picked up the needle left on the floor and reattached it to the IV bag to prevent the medicine from spilling everywhere.
Margaret had stopped Juniper earlier because Dione was in a hurry. If they didn't negotiate now, when would they? Should Juniper have to keep pleasing her?
The opportunity had come, and Margaret had helped Juniper. Dione shouldn't trouble her anymore.
With things settled here, Margaret could leave.
At Water Moon Estate.
William was busy with the North Bay amusement park project, and Margaret was watching, occasionally chiming in.
"William, shouldn't the location be closer to the train station? It would be more convenient for out-of-town visitors."
"You read my mind. The current plan from the team isn't great. I have to go over everything myself."
Margaret sighed, leaning on William's shoulder. "Looks like you'll be busy for a while. I thought you'd be done with work by now. I even planned what we could eat."
William pinched her cheek. "What do you want to eat? I'll make it up to you."
"Sushi."
"Perfect. I have fresh salmon and other sashimi in the fridge. Go check it out and make something."
"Alright, I'll whip something up for you."
Margaret went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and marveled at the high-quality sashimi. "You really know how to live. Keeping thousands of dollars' worth of sashimi at home."
She busied herself in the kitchen, and when she turned around, she saw William had moved to a spot where he could see her, working on his laptop.
They exchanged smiles, each focused on their tasks, occasionally glancing at each other, enjoying the quiet companionship.
Margaret carefully sliced the fish and made sushi, finally arranging it on a plate.
"Mr. Fisher, dinner is served."
Margaret placed the sushi and sashimi in front of William. He took a bite and nodded. "It's really good."
"Eat up, then."
Margaret fed him piece by piece. When they finished, she held out her hand.
William looked at it and placed his hand in hers, only for her to slap it away.
"Who wants your hand?"
Margaret kept her hand outstretched. This time, William offered his chin, and she rolled her eyes.
"Aren't you supposed to be a cold, aloof CEO? What's with this behavior?"
"Isn't this what's trending online? Especially with you girls, posting on Twitter."
"Not me. I'm asking for a tip. I cooked and fed you, didn't I?"
Margaret extended her hand again. "Mr. Fisher, you won't stiff me, will you?"
William nodded. "Can't promise."
"You! No way, you can't stiff me!"
William laughed, gently tapping her nose. "Go peel me an apple, and I'll pay you back with interest."
"You said it. That means double the tip!"
Margaret ran to the coffee table, grabbed an apple, and started peeling it.
Suddenly, she yelped, and William rushed over, worried. "What happened? Did you cut yourself? How could you be so careless?"
He took her hand, inspecting it closely.
