Chapter 481 Must Not Let Go
Seraphina paused for a moment, her lips curling into a bittersweet smile.
She wanted to be in love, but the person she loved didn't love her back.
"How could I possibly be dating anyone? I need to rush back to the office. We'll talk about yesterday's events when we meet."
With that, Seraphina hung up the phone and let out a sigh of relief, unplugging her charging phone.
"Thanks a lot, Terry." Seraphina looked at Terry with a grateful smile.
"You've thanked me like a million times already."
Terry shook his head with a hint of helplessness and reminded her, "Your fever's gone down. Make sure to watch your diet and get plenty of rest for the next three days."
Seraphina glanced up at Terry and joked, "You really are a doctor. That tone is so annoying."
Terry chuckled, "Occupational hazard."
"Still, I gotta thank you," Seraphina said as she stood up and bowed deeply to Terry.
Terry's gaze lingered on Seraphina, feeling a bit dazed. He had become a fan of Seraphina by chance, but he was surprised to find that the Seraphina on screen was quite different from the Seraphina standing before him.
"Got any paper and a pen?" Seraphina asked, smiling with dimples appearing on her cheeks.
Terry, puzzled, handed her a notebook from the shelf.
Seraphina took it and scribbled something before handing it back to Terry.
Terry glanced at it and saw a simple sketch of himself, signed by Seraphina with the words "Lifesaver."
Terry looked at Seraphina in surprise.
Seraphina stuck out her tongue playfully and tilted her head, "This is a fan perk. Not only do you get my autograph, but also a sketch drawn by me. You're the first one."
"I'll treasure it." Terry closed the notebook, a smile tugging at his lips.
"I'm heading out now, and…" Seraphina hesitated, "I hope you can keep yesterday and today's events confidential."
Terry nodded, "I'll drive you back. It's hard to get a cab here, and it wouldn't be good if the paparazzi caught you."
Seraphina considered his words and agreed, following him to the garage.
On the way to Starlight Entertainment, they didn't talk much. Seraphina stared out the window at the passing scenery, feeling a surge of emotion.
She fiddled with her phone case before finally removing it. She had bought it because it looked like a couple's case, thinking of Lyle. Now, looking back, her fantasies seemed laughable.
Lost in thought, the car came to a stop. Seraphina snapped back to reality and smiled at Terry, "Thanks for the ride."
Terry didn't say anything, just shook his head and opened the car door for her.
After exchanging a few more words, Terry drove away. As Seraphina took a deep breath and prepared to enter the office, Margaret appeared in front of her.
"Margaret." Seraphina blinked in surprise.
"Who was that who dropped you off? And your manager said you didn't come home last night?" Margaret glanced in the direction Terry had driven off.
Seraphina's expression darkened as she recalled the events of the previous night and told Margaret everything that had happened at the bar.
"Rex? The guy who's been harassing you?" Margaret's brows furrowed, shocked by the situation.
"Yeah." Seraphina nodded, still shaken by the memory.
Margaret patted Seraphina's shoulder, "Seraphina, you need to report this to the police. I'll get the surveillance footage. We can't let Rex get away with this."
"Report it to the police?"
Seraphina hesitated. As a public figure, and considering Rex's background, making a big deal out of this could have serious repercussions.
Margaret saw Seraphina's hesitation and spoke more firmly, "Seraphina, if we don't teach him a lesson, he'll only get worse. Don't worry, I'll handle this."
Margaret's eyes turned cold. No one messes with her people!
After discussing with Seraphina's manager, Margaret obtained the surveillance footage from the bar and parking lot, documenting Rex's actions clearly.
Seraphina followed Margaret's advice and reported the incident to the police. With Margaret's pressure, Rex was brought in for questioning.
"I didn't do anything wrong. I saw her drunk and was just trying to help her home."
Rex spoke calmly, but inside, he was furious. He couldn't believe Seraphina had turned the tables on him. Not only did he fail to get her, but he also got beaten up.
"And that witness you brought in, he beat me up. My lip is still injured. Maybe they're trying to extort me."
Rex pointed to his injured lip, his expression arrogant, "See? I'm hurt. I want a medical examination. I'm going to sue that witness for assault."
Behind the glass, Margaret's lips curled into a cold smile. This guy was really pushing his luck.
Seraphina stood nearby, worried. Margaret patted her shoulder, giving her a reassuring look.
Margaret handed the surveillance footage to the police. Faced with this solid evidence, Rex finally began to panic and demanded a lawyer.
"This is defamation. I want my lawyer. Or you can contact my dad. Do you know who my dad is?"
Rex's expression grew more twisted. He couldn't believe he was being framed.
He would remember this grudge. He wouldn't let Seraphina off the hook!
"Sir, we have both witnesses and evidence. No matter how much he argues, it won't help."
Seraphina's manager spoke to the police, "You can also check with the bartender from last night. He can provide more information."
Turning to the still raging Rex, the manager's face showed disgust. She had known about Rex's harassment of Seraphina and had tried to fend him off several times. She hadn't expected him to nearly harm Seraphina this time.
If he had succeeded, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
