Chapter 293 Don't Challenge My Limits

Margaret had a very, very long dream.

She dreamt that she was being chased by many people, and she ran for her life.

But ahead was a cliff, and behind her were the pursuers.

She was at her wit's end!

"William, save me!" Margaret instinctively wanted to shout, but her throat was unusually dry, and she couldn't utter a single word.

She was pushed off the cliff, falling into an abyss, continuously plummeting downward.

Margaret was startled, and her consciousness gradually returned.

She realized it was a nightmare. However, the dream was so vivid, as if it had really happened.

Margaret tried to move her fingers but felt her muscles were extremely sore.

She remembered that her car's brakes had been tampered with by Leander's people. After she managed to get out, she was ambushed by Leander and his men.

She took down one after another, but the enemy used a swarm tactic, making it seem like an endless number of people were attacking her.

Eventually, she felt she couldn't hold on any longer.

At that critical moment, William showed up and saved her!

William's incredibly handsome face appeared in her mind, and Margaret felt a warmth in her heart.

'Where is William now?' She tried to slowly open her eyes.

But before she could open them, she heard a commotion.

"William, Margaret is not a good person at all. She even provoked people from the underworld. Today you saved her, but who knows when she'll provoke someone even more powerful, and it won't be easy to handle!" Abigail said unpleasantly.

Then came Daisy's voice. "Yes, William, if something happens to you, how am I supposed to explain it to your grandfather when he wakes up?"

"Exactly, William, Margaret is a fickle woman, and now she's involved with the underworld. She's not worthy of you at all. Don't be fooled by her!"

Abigail's sharp and bitter tone, and Daisy's embellishments, were all too familiar.

Margaret sneered inwardly. 'These two women never misses a chance to slander me.'

She opened her eyes and turned her head to see William standing with his back to her at the door of the ward, his tall and slender body blocking the entrance completely.

He was keeping Daisy and Abigail, who had come to cause trouble, outside.

William's deep eyes were full of coldness, and his tone was impatient. "I told you, no one is allowed to interfere in matters between Margaret and me. Don't challenge my limits!"

He was only worried about Margaret's health now.

Two days ago, he brought her to the hospital, and the doctor told him she had severe external injuries, with bruises all over her body, looking shocking.

William was heartbroken and felt guilty.

If he hadn't suddenly gone to Novastates, maybe Margaret wouldn't have suffered like this.

He would never let Leander and the person behind him off the hook!

"William!" Seeing William protecting Margaret, Abigail stomped her foot in anger, not expecting him to be so stubborn.

She couldn't understand why William liked that wretched woman Margaret! so much!

Abigail's heart burned with jealousy. She had secretly loved William for so many years.

From the first time she entered the Fisher Family and saw William, she had fallen hopelessly in love with him.

But because of their nominal cousin relationship, Abigail could only hide her feelings deep in her heart.

And William had always treated her just like a cousin, neither warm nor cold.

But William wasn't just like that with her; he was like that with all women.

Abigail once thought she had a chance.

At least she could see William often and occasionally act spoiled with him.

But everything changed when Margaret came to the Fisher Family!

William's eyes were always fixed on Margaret!

She was unwilling to accept it!

"Alright, you two should leave!" William's cold eyes swept over Abigail and Daisy. He was worried about Margaret's condition and didn't want to say more to them.

"William, one day you'll regret this!" Abigail said through gritted teeth.

"Abigail, let's go!" Daisy pulled the furious Abigail and turned to leave.

In the elevator, Abigail complained unwillingly, "Aunt Daisy, why did you stop me?"

"Can't you see that William won't listen to anything we say right now?" Daisy frowned.

"Aunt Daisy, you mean..." Abigail was stunned.

Daisy rubbed her temples. "We need to make William see Margaret's true colors."

"You're right!" Abigail nodded repeatedly.

She suddenly remembered what Ulysses had said before.

It seemed it was time to find Ulysses again.

Seeing Daisy and Abigail finally leave, William turned back to the ward.

As he turned, he saw that Margaret was already awake.

William's previously calm and cold eyes finally showed some emotion.

He quickly walked to the bedside and sat down, saying slightly with full of concern , "Margaret, you're awake? How do you feel? Did the noise just now wake you?"

Margaret shook her head. "Water."

Her throat was very dry.

"Wait a moment." William quickly turned to pour her a glass of warm water.

He carefully helped Margaret sit up, letting her head rest on his shoulder, then tested the water's temperature himself before gently feeding it to her.

After drinking a glass of water, Margaret felt much better.

But then, her whole body started to ache as if it were splitting apart.

Seeing her frown in pain, William held her small hand, his eyes full of heartache. "Margaret, it's okay. The doctor said you only have external injuries. You'll be fine after a few days of rest."

"Okay." Margaret nodded.

As Pryce's apprentice, Margaret was skilled in medicine and knew her injuries were not serious.

"How long was I unconscious?" Margaret leaned against William's chest and asked softly.

"Two days," William replied in a deep voice.

Margaret frowned slightly.

"How is Bradley?" She was worried that Bradley's condition might have worsened while she was unconscious.

William's words reassured her. "He is being taken care of by Dr. Hawthorne. Don't worry, if anything happens, I'll go find Pryce."

"Okay." Margaret rubbed her arm. No wonder she was so sore; lying down for three days would make anyone ache.

Seeing her like this, William's cold eyes flashed with a hint of malice. "Margaret, don't worry, I won't let Leander off the hook!"

Margaret nodded. "Have you found out who is behind Leander?"

William narrowed his eyes slightly and whispered in Margaret's ear, "Peter is investigating. We should have results soon."
