Chapter 472 Happy Cooperation

Since Michael had asked her directly, Margaret saw no reason to avoid the topic. "I've thought about Mr. Fisher's proposal. It could really change things for Starlight. But I gotta ask, Mr. Fisher, why do you trust me so much? You know all about my history with your sister, Lucy—"

Margaret stopped there, confident that Michael understood her implication.

Michael paused for a moment, his expression unchanged, though his smile carried a hint of apology. "Margaret, I know Lucy's made a lot of mistakes, hurting both you and Mr. Fisher. But my decision to discuss this business deal with you has nothing to do with Lucy. Starlight Entertainment may be a relatively new company, but your team is top-notch. Many of the recent hit TV shows and movies have been produced by Starlight. Why wouldn't I choose to work with you?"

Margaret nodded slightly. Michael's reasoning was sound. Despite her issues with Lucy, there was no need to let that affect her business dealings with Michael.

"Since Mr. Fisher put it that way, it would be rude of me not to agree."

Michael smiled at her response. "Then, Margaret, here's to a successful partnership."

They continued their conversation over dinner, unaware that Abigail was watching them from outside, seething with anger but also feeling a sense of satisfaction. She had been out shopping with friends when she spotted Margaret and Michael entering the restaurant.

"Margaret, you still claim to be sincere with William? This time, I've caught you red-handed!" Without hesitation, Abigail took out her phone and snapped a photo of Margaret and Michael dining together, then sent it to William.

William had just finished his work and was about to leave when his phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen and saw the photo Abigail had sent of Margaret and Michael.

His expression darkened as he stared at the image, his grip tightening on the phone. He turned off the screen and slipped the phone into his pocket.

After dinner, Margaret returned to the office and worked until six in the evening. When she got home, she found William sitting on the couch with a stormy expression. She looked at him, puzzled, and asked, "What's wrong? Why are you upset again?"

William looked up at her, clearly not in a good mood. "Why were you at the restaurant with Michael today?"

Margaret was taken aback. She had no idea how William knew about it, but it didn't matter to her. She hung her coat on the rack by the door and explained, "I visited Samuel's house to see Juniper today. On my way out, I ran into Mr. Fisher. He wanted to discuss some work matters, so we went to the restaurant to talk over dinner. How did you find out about this?"

Despite Margaret's explanation, William couldn't get past the mention of Michael. His possessiveness flared up, especially since he had repeatedly told Margaret how he felt.

"Don't worry about how I know," William said as Margaret sat down beside him. "You need to stop casually meeting with other guys. I get really jealous."

Margaret sighed in exasperation, turning her head away and even rolling her eyes. William was always like this.

"Seriously, I told you it was just a work meeting with Mr. Fisher. You can't control my life."

"Can't control your life?" William scoffed, clearly displeased. After Margaret finished speaking, he pulled her into a forceful kiss, just like he always did.

After several seconds, he finally let her go. They lingered in each other's arms for a while before Margaret managed to pull away. "Alright, enough. The phone's ringing. I need to answer it."

Margaret picked up the phone and greeted the caller. Hearing Xavier's voice, her eyes lit up with excitement. "Grandpa, why are you only calling me now? I've missed you."

Xavier chuckled warmly. "I've been watching TV these past few days and saw that you're getting engaged to a big shot in the city. The young man looks quite handsome. I thought I'd come back to attend your engagement party since I'm feeling well and have some free time."

"Really?" Margaret beamed, her voice filled with happiness. "That would be wonderful! When are you coming to Ravenford? I'll come pick you up!"

"In a few days. I'll call you when I arrive."

Margaret agreed cheerfully and chatted with Xavier for a bit longer before hanging up. She turned to William with a smile. "Grandpa called. He said he'll be coming to Ravenford for our engagement party. It's been so long since I've seen him."

William smiled and patted her shoulder. "Great. Let me know when he arrives, and we'll go pick him up together."

A week later, Seraphina was discharged from the hospital, with Lyle handling the paperwork as usual.

As they walked out of the hospital, Lyle still supported Seraphina, who lowered her head slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Mr. Pennington, I'm really fine now."

"Seraphina!" Rex shouted.

Seraphina looked up to see Rex waiting at the bottom of the steps, holding a bouquet of lilies and smiling as he approached her, showing no sign of the awkwardness from his previous visit to the hospital.

"I knew you were getting discharged today, so I came to pick you up. How are you feeling? Let me take you home."

Rex reached out to take Seraphina's hand, but she stiffened and clung to Lyle's sleeve, clearly seeking help.

Lyle frowned, not hiding his disdain for Rex. "Why are you here again?"

Rex glared at Lyle. "Seriously, Lyle, why are you always around? I'm here to pick up Seraphina, and you're here too. Are you deliberately trying to make things difficult for me?"

Lyle retorted, his tone sharp as he instinctively shielded Seraphina. "I've warned you before to stay away from Seraphina and our company. It seems you didn't take my words seriously, did you?"
