Chapter 492 Because of Love, Hatred Arises

"Jack," Angel called out again.

Jack frowned slightly but didn't hang up the phone.

Angel paused for a couple of seconds, relieved that the call was still connected. She continued, "Let's make a deal. Like you said, I'm not in prison; I'm abroad. But if you help me get back to Ravenford, I'll do whatever you want. Just stop William and Margaret's engagement party in a few days, and I'll follow your orders from then on."

As expected, Jack laughed again after hearing her proposal.

He had been keeping an eye on William's movements lately, and he found Angel's desperation both pitiful and foolish.

William clearly didn't love her, yet Angel was still clinging to him. If that wasn't pathetic and stupid, what was?

However, Angel's offer wasn't entirely without merit. Jack had wanted to take William down for a long time. Although Angel wasn't the most valuable pawn, she wasn't completely useless either.

"You said it. If you betray me again, you know what will happen," Jack said coldly, referring to the North Bay project incident.

Angel's eyes lit up. She had already made up her mind. Getting back and ruining William's engagement was the priority. Everything else could wait. Agreeing now was crucial.

"Okay, I understand. Just help me," Angel replied eagerly.

Jack gave a malicious smile, ending the conversation.

"Fine. I'll arrange a suitable flight for you the day after tomorrow. Someone will buy your ticket to Ravenford. If you miss the flight, that's on you."

The call ended, and Angel held her phone, feeling a mix of helplessness and joy, along with a sense of reclaiming what she had lost.

Margaret, you can't be with William. Absolutely not!

Two days later, at Ravenford Airport, Angel walked out with her suitcase. Not far away, she saw a familiar white car, one of Jack's.

"Ms. Walsh, you're back," the driver said indifferently, treating Angel like a stranger.

Angel got into the back seat, her head slightly lowered, feeling both nervous and excited. The thought of seeing Jack always brought a sense of fear, a habit formed over many years.

Outside Jack's office, Angel composed herself, taking a couple of deep breaths before pushing the door open.

Jack looked up at the sound and smirked when he saw Angel.

"You're finally here."

"…Yeah," Angel replied after a long pause, slowly walking closer but still keeping some distance. "What do you need me to do?"Jack nodded in satisfaction. "Looks like you still know how to show up on time."

He turned and grabbed a box from the shelf behind his desk. When he opened it, Angel saw a small spherical object with a few wires, looking like something straight out of a movie.

"What's this?" Angel asked, confused.

"This?" Jack chuckled, handing her the box. "It's a new mini bomb I got. In seven days, at William and Margaret's engagement party, I'll get you an invitation. You need to plant this bomb there and make sure they…"

Jack made a throat-slitting gesture, his eyes turning cold and menacing as he stared at Angel. "Got it?"

Angel was stunned. She hadn't expected Jack to have such intentions. But her hatred for Margaret and disappointment in William fueled her resolve. Yes, love had turned to hate.

She looked down at the box Jack handed her and, almost involuntarily, took the bomb. "Okay, I understand."

As the engagement party approached, William grew more excited, even showing up to work in a better mood, often smiling, which puzzled his colleagues.

Besides work, he spent all his free time with Margaret. Like today, he finished work early to help Margaret with a puzzle at home.

Placing the last piece, Margaret still seemed down. William had noticed this for a while and finally asked, "What's wrong? You seem off today."

Margaret shook her head, looking a bit helpless. She had a bad feeling all day, a sense of unease she couldn't shake, even though nothing had happened.

"I…" She hesitated, speaking slowly, "I don't know why, but I feel anxious today. Sometimes I think something will go wrong at our engagement party, that it won't go as smoothly as we planned."

William paused, thinking Margaret was just stressed from work. He gently patted her head.

"It's okay. I've got everything prepared. Don't overthink it. Maybe you're just tired from work and designing clothes."

"It's not that," Margaret insisted, but seeing William's concern, she forced a smile, not wanting to worry him. She decided to drop the subject.

"Maybe I'm just overthinking. It's nothing. Don't worry about me."

"Alright, just relax at home. If work is too much, take a break. We're getting engaged soon. Just focus on being a beautiful bride. If you don't want to work, I'll take care of you. The Fisher Group has plenty of money," William said, beaming at the thought of their upcoming marriage, not wanting anything to dampen Margaret's spirits.
