Chapter 220 Making Friends with Ms. Scott

Just as Margaret was lost in thought, the conference room door swung open again, and in strolled a tall, lean dude rocking a black trench coat.

Margaret glanced up and locked eyes with a pair of deep, icy peepers.

It was him! The guy she bumped into at the airport. The big boss of BPL, Jack.

And trailing behind Jack was none other than Ulysses!

Margaret squinted, thinking, 'When did Ulysses start hanging with Jack? Did he have anything to do with that plane crash with William and me?'

William had been digging for ages but came up empty-handed. If Ulysses was behind it and left no clues, this whole thing was way more complicated.

But Ulysses making a power grab while William was MIA was a no-brainer. Bradley being a softie was the only reason Ulysses got off easy. Now, Ulysses had teamed up with Jack, gunning for the Fisher Group.

Ulysses had been with the Fisher Group for over twenty years and knew the ins and outs like the back of his hand. With Ulysses now on BPL's side, things were looking pretty grim for the Fisher Group.

The host stepped up to the mic, cleared his throat, and kicked things off. "Welcome, everyone, to the North Bay project bidding meeting. Each company will now present their plans for the North Bay project."

When the host called the Fisher Group, Margaret strutted up to the stage with confidence.

"Our Fisher Group's plan for the North Bay project is to build a massive amusement park. As you all know, Ravenford has always been missing a big amusement park. Our plan is to create a world-class amusement park," Margaret said with a confident smile, starting her pitch.

William sat in his seat, his intense gaze locked on the confident woman on stage. She was still the same—calm, composed, confident, and elegant. So dazzling he couldn't look away.

Seeing William staring at Margaret with a softness in his eyes she had never seen before, Angel's heart burned with jealousy. She clenched her fists, glaring at Margaret. 'Margaret, you won't be on top for long! Soon, I'll show you what I'm made of!'

A flicker of malice flashed in Angel's eyes. When the time came, she would make sure Margaret was humiliated and kicked out of the Fisher Group by William!

Two hours later, the host wrapped things up, "Each company has presented their plans. In two days, we'll hold the official bidding meeting, where the bids will be revealed, and the highest bidder will win."

Back at the Fisher Group, William called Margaret to the president's office.

"Get the bid calculated ASAP," William said in a calm tone.

Margaret nodded. "Got it."

Back at her desk, Margaret dove into her work and started crunching the numbers for the bid.

After work, Margaret walked out of the Fisher Group building, ready to head back to East Garden. Suddenly, a car pulled up in front of her. Two bodyguards in black stepped out and approached Margaret from both sides. "Ms. Scott, our boss wants to see you."

Margaret glanced at them coolly and asked, "Who's your boss?"

"It's me." The car window rolled down slowly, revealing a handsome face with tanned skin, radiating a bit of arrogance and coldness.

"Jack Phillips?" Margaret was a bit taken aback seeing him chilling in the back seat.

"Ms. Scott, please hop in!" The two bodyguards bowed and gestured for her to get in. Margaret thought for a sec and then slid into the car. She was curious about what Jack was scheming.

"What do you want?" Margaret raised an eyebrow, giving Jack a sideways glance.

Jack squinted, his gaze intense as he looked at Margaret. "Not much, just wanted to invite you to dinner. Care to join me?"

His stare was like a predator eyeing its prey, making Margaret feel a bit uneasy.

Margaret met his gaze and gave a slight nod.

Half an hour later, Jack took Margaret to a swanky, high-end hotel. "Ms. Scott, after you."

Margaret followed Jack into a private room.

"Mr. Phillips, you didn't just invite me for dinner, did you?" Margaret asked bluntly after sitting down.

Jack smirked. "Ms. Scott, you once saved me. A dinner invite isn't too much, is it?"

He paused and pulled out a check, handing it to Margaret. "This is to thank you, Ms. Scott."

"It was just a small favor. Anyone would have done the same." Margaret pushed the check back without batting an eye.

Seeing Margaret's cold demeanor, Jack frowned slightly. "Since you won't accept it, I won't push. But I hope we can be friends."

"We're on opposite sides in business, destined not to be friends. Thanks for dinner." Margaret abruptly stood up and headed for the door.

The bodyguards at the door moved to block her. "Ms. Scott, please sit back down."

Margaret's gaze was sharp as she coldly said, "Move aside!"

Her voice wasn't loud, but it had an undeniable authority. The two bodyguards exchanged a glance, and Jack's cold voice cut through. "Let her go."

"Yes!" The bodyguards immediately stepped aside, clearing the way.

Margaret walked out of the hotel and headed back to East Garden. Just as she entered the neighborhood gate, her phone rang. She pulled out her phone and saw it was a call from Anthony.

"Anthony, any new updates on Angel?" Margaret gripped her phone and answered.

Anthony, however, responded with a question, "Ada, guess where I am right now?"

Margaret frowned. "Just spill it!"

Anthony laughed loudly. "Look up ahead."

Margaret instinctively looked up and saw a medium-built young man with dyed blond hair and a roguish air jump down from a flower bed, smirking at her.

"Anthony? What are you doing in Ravenford?" Margaret was a bit surprised.

Anthony raised an eyebrow and pretended to be hurt. "What? Ada, not happy to see me?"

Margaret hung up, put her phone away, and said slowly, "Weren't you traveling the world?"

"So, I traveled to Ravenford to see you." Anthony smirked roguishly.

Margaret raised her eyelids slightly. "Cut to the chase!"

Knowing Anthony, his appearance wasn't just a casual visit.

Sure enough, as they walked through the gate, Anthony's roguish smile faded, and his tone turned serious. "Ada, I found some info about Angel and came specifically to find you."
