Chapter 285 Bradley in Critical Condition
Nestled against William's chest, a familiar feeling washed over Margaret, bringing her inexplicable peace.
The unpleasantness from Daisy and Abigail's provocation vanished instantly.
William gently carried Margaret to the bathroom door and carefully set her down.
His eyes held a rare tenderness. "Go take a shower."
"Thank you." Margaret, in a daze, took the clean clothes he handed her and turned into the bathroom.
Steam filled the entire bathroom as Margaret stood under the shower, tilting her head back to let the water wash over every inch of her skin.
It was warm and comfortable.
She didn't know how much time had passed when she finally turned off the shower and opened her wet eyes.
After changing into dry clothes, the heavy feeling in her body gradually faded, and she felt much better.
Margaret yawned and walked out of the bathroom, only to see that the bedroom, which had been a mess thanks to Daisy and Abigail, was now tidy again.
The soaked sheets and blankets had been replaced with clean ones, and the clothes Abigail had pulled out were neatly hung in the closet.
Margaret raised an eyebrow, wanting to thank William.
But William was nowhere to be seen.
Margaret furrowed her brows, opened the door, and looked around but couldn't find William anywhere.
Finally, she saw a sticky note he had left on the refrigerator.
William: [I'm going on a business trip abroad for a week. WonderWhirl Desserts will deliver donuts every morning at eight. Take care of yourself.]
After reading it, Margaret instinctively wanted to take out her phone to call him.
After thinking for a moment, she put her phone away.
At the Clark Mansion, Lucy sat on the couch, looking at the news about Margaret and Lyle on her phone, a smug smile on her lips.
"Lucy, look, now everyone knows about Margaret's scandal. Her reputation is ruined!" Grace said cautiously, standing beside her.
That night, she had been taken away by the police, and the Thomas Family had a hard time bailing her out.
Lucy sneered and glared at Grace. "You still have the nerve to talk? That night was such a good opportunity, and you let Margaret turn the tables. You can't even handle such a small matter! If I hadn't directed the media to write like that, you would have been useless!"
Grace kept apologizing, "Yes, Lucy, it's all my fault. But didn't I make up for it by spending a lot of money to hire people to guide public opinion and ruin Margaret's reputation?"
"By the way, how's Mia doing lately?" Lucy suddenly remembered something.
Grace replied, "I heard her brother hired bodyguards to watch her and won't let her leave the Davis Mansion."
"Is that so?" Lucy narrowed her eyes. "If she can't leave, we can go find her."
"Lucy, you mean..." Grace asked quickly.
Lucy pointed to the photo of Margaret and Lyle on the phone screen. "Show these to Mia."
Mia liked Lyle and had caused trouble for Margaret several times because of him.
Now, if Mia saw these rumors about Lyle and Margaret, she would be insanely jealous.
At that point, Mia would definitely go after Margaret again.
Grace nodded quickly. "Yes, I'll go to the Davis Family tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? Go now!" Lucy said, standing up abruptly and glaring at Grace. "Hurry up!"
Lucy couldn't wait another moment!
Just thinking about Margaret moving back into William's apartment and them being together day and night made Lucy grit her teeth in hatred.
Grace quickly followed. "Lucy, wait for me."
The two arrived at the Davis mansion, and Grace rang the doorbell.
The door was opened by the Davis Family butler.
"We're here to see Mia," Grace said.
The butler recognized them and politely said, "Ms. Clark, Ms. Thomas, please wait a moment."
The butler went to Mia's room, where Mia was throwing a tantrum.
"Ms. Davis, Ms. Clark, and Ms. Thomas are here to see you," the butler said cautiously.
Mia's expression hardened. "Let them in."
Soon, Lucy and Grace followed the butler to Mia's room.
"Do you need something?" Mia asked, glancing at them indifferently.
Lucy gave Grace a look, and Grace understood, saying, "Ms. Davis, we heard your brother has confined you, so Lucy and I came to see you."
"That's not true. I've just been feeling unwell lately and haven't gone out." Mia denied flatly.
"Are you okay?" Lucy asked with concern.
Mia shook her head. "I'm fine."
"Ms. Davis, it's good to hear you're okay," Grace said, "We really feel for you."
As she spoke, Grace opened her phone and handed it to Mia. "Look at this. That shameless vixen Margaret is seducing Lyle again."
Mia's eyes fell on the phone screen.
Seeing Margaret and Lyle so close and intimate, a surge of jealousy erupted in her eyes.
No wonder Matthew had taken her phone away early this morning.
He must have been afraid she'd see this.
She was being confined by Matthew all because of Margaret!
She wouldn't let Margaret get away with this!
Seeing their goal achieved, Lucy and Grace exchanged a glance.
Grace smiled. "Ms. Davis, seeing that you're okay, Lucy and I are relieved. It's getting late, so we'll let you rest. We won't disturb you any longer."
The next day, at eight o'clock sharp, Margaret had just gotten up when she received the donuts delivered by WonderWhirl Desserts.
When she went out, the driver was already waiting to take her to the Fisher Group.
"Ms. Scott, Mr. Fisher instructed me to take you to the company," the driver said respectfully to Margaret.
Margaret felt a warmth in her heart.
Even though William was away on a business trip, he had arranged everything for her.
Sitting in the car, Margaret looked out the window, her emotions fluctuating.
Maybe she should agree to go back to William's side?
Or perhaps she should wait a bit longer.
After all, Marjorie's issue was still unresolved.
At the Fisher Group, Margaret had just turned on her computer and hadn't started working when her phone suddenly rang urgently.
Margaret glanced at it; it was Patterson calling.
Margaret's heart skipped a beat. 'Why is Patterson calling me so early? Could something have happened to Bradley?'
Margaret quickly answered the call, "Dr. Hawthorne, what's the matter?"
On the other end, Patterson's anxious voice came through. "Ms. Scott, Bradley's condition suddenly worsened. He's in the emergency room undergoing surgery, and we can't reach Mr. Fisher, so we had to call you."
