Chapter 446 Samuel Wakes Up

Samuel had just woken up, his body still weak. But seeing Juniper's face, more haggard than before, made his heart ache even more. He gently lifted his right hand, his fingers lightly tracing her face, more like a caress.

Juniper had been sleeping lightly these days, so she could clearly feel someone touching her. She groggily woke up and looked up, meeting Samuel's eyes.

Seeing Juniper awake, Samuel's lips curled into a tentative smile.

Juniper was stunned, her eyes filled with disbelief. She rubbed her eyes as if to confirm what she was seeing. When her vision cleared and she realized this wasn't a dream, a joyful smile spread across her face, her voice trembling with emotion.

"Samuel, Samuel, it's really you. You're finally awake. This is wonderful."

Juniper was both excited and overjoyed. She had been waiting for this day for so long, but there were also mixed emotions she couldn't quite describe. Her eyes reddened, tears glistening as she covered her mouth to stifle her sobs.

"I'm awake," Samuel nodded gently. He wanted to reach out and wipe Juniper's tears, but he was too weak to lift his hand that high.

Unable to do so, he softened his tone and said, "Juniper, I'm sorry for making you worry. I'm okay now, so please don't cry. You've lost so much weight during this time."

Juniper quickly wiped her tears with the back of her hand. Seeing this, Samuel couldn't help but smile, though his face was still pale. Even though he had been in a coma for a long time, he wasn't completely unaware. Sometimes, he could hear people talking around him, even if he couldn't wake up.

For instance, he had heard Juniper mention marrying him.

Samuel decided to bring it up. He looked at Juniper, motioning for her to sit beside him. He gently held her hand and asked, "Juniper, while I was in a coma, I heard you say something. You said if I woke up, you would marry me. Is that true?"

Juniper was taken aback. She hadn't expected Samuel to hear that. Although she hadn't planned to go back on her word, admitting it outright was still difficult given everything they had been through.

She hesitated, feeling conflicted, and turned her face away, wiping her tears with the back of her hand again.

"I was just saying that. Who said I have to marry you?"

Despite her words, Samuel wasn't upset. He had loved Juniper long enough to know when she was being sincere and when she wasn't.

"Juniper, I'm really happy you agreed to marry me. Don't worry, once I'm out of the hospital, I'll give you a grand wedding and make you the happiest woman in the world. What kind of wedding do you want?"

Samuel swore this was the best news he'd heard since waking up. He was already imagining the wedding, afraid Juniper might change her mind.

But Juniper was still adjusting to the idea. Although she had decided to keep her promise, fully accepting or falling in love with Samuel would take time.

"You should focus on getting better first. We'll talk about this when you're fully recovered. You know I need time to accept this, right? But I won't go back on my word, don't worry."

Juniper carefully chose her words, speaking to Samuel while tucking him in.

Samuel nodded gently. He understood Juniper's feelings. Besides, her agreeing to marry him was already a pleasant surprise. Since he would marry her eventually, waiting a bit longer wasn't a problem.

Just then, Dione arrived at the door and heard voices inside. She pushed the door open and saw Samuel talking to Juniper. Her eyes widened, tears quickly welling up, and she almost dropped the soup she was holding in her excitement.

"Samuel? You're awake? You're finally awake?"

Dione couldn't believe her eyes. She rushed to the bedside, momentarily forgetting her prejudice against Juniper. Samuel turned to look at Dione, meeting her gaze, and nodded slightly.

"Mom, I'm awake."

Dione's heart, which had been on edge for days, finally relaxed. But with the relief came a wave of emotion, and she couldn't help but cry.

"You silly boy, you scared me to death," Dione sobbed, but then she smiled through her tears. "It's okay, it's okay. You're awake, that's all that matters."

Not long after, Madeline also arrived at the hospital room. Although she felt for Juniper, dealing with Dione's attitude, she had always liked Samuel.

As soon as she entered, she saw Dione sitting by Samuel, who was clearly awake. Madeline was momentarily stunned, but then a smile spread across her face as she quickly walked over, looking relieved.

"Samuel, you're awake? This is wonderful. Now that you're awake, Juniper can finally get some rest. You have no idea how hard she's been working for you these past days."

Madeline was about to mention Dione's treatment of Juniper, but saw Juniper frown, signaling her not to bring it up.

Madeline thought for a moment and decided not to add to Samuel's worries. Dione, though momentarily taken aback by Madeline's words, chose not to say anything. Since Samuel was awake, she decided to give Juniper some face and let it go.

"Mrs. Hall, I know Juniper has been worried and exhausted these days."

As Samuel spoke, he couldn't help but look at Juniper, his eyes full of tenderness.

Seeing Samuel's expression, Madeline felt reassured and couldn't help but feel a bit smug. What did it matter if Dione was domineering? Samuel still liked Juniper.

As they were talking, Juniper's phone suddenly rang in her pocket. She took it out and quietly signaled to the two moms and Samuel that she was stepping out to take the call.

She walked out, looking at the phone. It was an unfamiliar number.

After closing the door, Juniper answered, "Hello, who is this?"

To her surprise, there was only silence on the other end. Not a word was spoken. Juniper frowned, finding it very strange.
