Chapter 361 Alden Awakens
Angel quickly chased after them; she had to see that boy.
Fortunately, Leon and the others were too focused on using their flashlights to find people and didn't notice Angel trailing behind.
When Angel reached the cliff, she saw the little girl standing there, but the boy's voice was no longer heard.
Leon angrily rubbed his bald head and spat on the ground. "Damn it, it's okay to catch one, take her back!"
With that, several men surrounded the little girl, eyeing her menacingly, intending to capture her.
The girl was terrified by the situation, shaking her head and retreating until she reached the edge of the cliff. Suddenly, she stepped into thin air and fell.
Angel only had time to hear her scream.
Bringing her thoughts back, Angel furrowed her delicate brows.
Back then, the little girl must have died from such a high fall.
Her adoptive father took her in only because she was the daughter of the kidnappers and knew what had happened. Over the years, her adoptive father deliberately groomed her to become Marjorie, so she could approach William at the right time with the goal of bringing down the Fisher Group.
She didn't know what grudge the Phillips Family had with the Fisher Family; she only knew that she loved William.
From the moment she first saw William, she had fallen hopelessly in love with him.
Therefore, she wouldn't do anything to harm William.
At Maplewood, Alden had been lying in the ward, still unconscious.
Margaret performed acupuncture on him daily, so his right leg's condition hadn't worsened.
"Margaret, how is Alden?" Juniper's eyes were filled with worry.
Margaret skillfully and carefully performed acupuncture on Alden. "Don't worry, I'm controlling his injury now. Alden's condition is relatively stable. Yesterday, Pryce told me he booked tickets to Ravenford. We can take Alden back to Ravenford tomorrow."
"That's great! I'll go prepare now!" Juniper finally showed a hint of a happy smile.
Margaret nodded and watched Juniper leave before starting to pack her things.
"You're going back to Ravenford tomorrow?" William sat on a nearby chair, holding a financial magazine, but his eyes were on the busy Margaret.
"Yes, Alden's injury can't be delayed any longer." Margaret packed her things, glanced back at William, and smiled.
William felt a stir in his heart.
He put down the magazine, walked behind Margaret, and said, "I'll go back with you tomorrow."
"How can that be?" Margaret shook her head. "You shouldn't go back. Since you came to Maplewood for disaster relief, you should stay a few more days. Going back so soon would make Angel suspicious."
"Don't you want to be with me?" William reached out his hands, his large, well-defined hands encircling Margaret's slender waist from behind.
The sudden closeness made Margaret's breath catch.
His warm breath tickled Margaret's neck, making her feel tingly.
Margaret felt her face heat up.
Margaret quickly pulled William into the hallway outside the ward, playfully scolding, "Of course I want to be with you, but there is something more important. Don't forget, Ulysses might be related to your father's accident, and now Ulysses has sided with Jack, who has a complicated relationship with Angel."
"You're right." Mentioning his father's accident made William's face darken.
He had the responsibility to uncover the truth of that year; he couldn't let his father die without clarity.
But he really didn't want to be separated from Margaret even for a moment.
William placed his hand on Margaret's cheek, gently caressing her earlobe.
He couldn't help but lowered his head and kissed the lips he had longed for, his hand around Margaret's waist tightening, kissing her patiently and tenderly.
Margaret, caught in William's kiss, struggled uncomfortably at first, but soon she was immersed in the kiss, responding to him.
Feeling Margaret's response, William was thrilled.
He deepened the kiss.
His tongue forcefully pried open Margaret's mouth, exploring inside, savoring the sweet, jelly-like lips of the woman in front of him.
The familiar, wonderful taste made William unable to stop.
After a long while, Margaret was almost out of breath from the kiss, and they finally parted.
Margaret lowered her head, her face blushing with shyness.
William looked down at the shy Margaret, a sexy smile playing on his lips. "Have you noticed that we seem to be getting more in sync, especially when kissing?"
Margaret remained silent.
Margaret remained silent, and rolled her eyes at him. "This is a hospital; aren't you afraid of being seen?"
William raised an eyebrow. "What's there to be afraid of? I'm kissing my own wife; so what?"
After saying that, he paused for a second or two, and before Margaret could speak, he placed his hands on her shoulders, looking seriously at her face, and said, "Margaret, I want you to marry me tomorrow. I can't wait any longer."
As cold and aloof as William was, he rarely expressed his feelings so passionately and directly.
Only in front of Margaret would he be like this.
Margaret was stunned for a moment, then looked up into the deep eyes of the man.
In them, she saw William's sincerity and true feelings, but...
Margaret paused, then gave a faint smile, deliberately teasing, "You wish. The mountains need disaster relief now; there's no time for that. Besides, we need to deal with Angel first. Don't rush."
Thinking of her, William's eyes darkened, but he nodded in agreement with Margaret's words.
The next day, Margaret, Juniper, and the others took Alden back to Ravenford.
As they boarded the plane, Margaret felt an unprecedented sense of reluctance as she looked at William, who had come to see them off.
"Wait for me; I'll be back soon." William kissed Margaret's forehead.
Margaret blushed. "Okay."
The plane took off and soon soared into the sky.
Throughout the journey, Juniper held Alden's hand tightly.
"Alden, we're almost in Ravenford. Pryce will treat you then, and you'll recover. You have to hold on, okay?" Juniper kept talking.
She hoped Alden could hear her and wake up soon.
Perhaps Alden really heard her. Around noon, when everyone was asleep, Alden's hand suddenly moved. After a few seconds, he slowly opened his eyes and weakly asked, "Where am I?"
"Alden! you're finally awake!" Juniper exclaimed excitedly.
