Chapter 388 Help Me Get Rid of Margaret

Margaret sighed in frustration, dropping her pen on the desk. She explained to William, "Those are just rumors from the reporters. I never said anything like that. Please don't get jealous, okay? The PR department is already handling it."

William had been with Margaret long enough to know her well. But jealousy was a natural emotion, and he couldn't help it.

With Margaret's explanation, William had no choice but to hold back his feelings, even if reluctantly.

He pursed his lips and finally said, "Alright."

"But," William narrowed his eyes, warningly, "Margaret, you're mine for life. No other man should even think about it! You can't even glance at anyone else, got it?"

Margaret felt a bit helpless with William's possessiveness. It made him seem childish, but she couldn't deny the sweetness she felt inside.

"Okay, okay, I get it. Don't you have work to do? Go on and get busy."

After hanging up the phone, Margaret looked at the flood of news articles on her screen, feeling both frustrated and angry. How could Lyle say such things in front of the reporters?

"Grace, come down for dinner."

Grace had locked herself in her room all day after coming home, only coming downstairs when the maid called her for dinner.

Father and daughter sat across from each other, Colt's face stern, unwilling to say a word to Grace.

Grace silently picked at her food with a fork, having no appetite, and even then, she was picky about what she chose.

"If you don't want to eat, go back to your room," Colt said coldly, glaring at Grace. He was still furious and couldn't tolerate her continued defiance.

"The company has lost several investments because of you. If you can eat, then eat properly. Don't act all high and mighty! Our family is on the brink of bankruptcy because of you!"

Bankruptcy?

Grace felt wronged but knew she had indeed caused a huge mess this time. So, she didn't argue back when Colt scolded her. But hearing the word "bankruptcy" made her eyes widen in shock.

How could this be? Was the family really on the verge of bankruptcy?

"What are you staring at? It's all because of you!"

Colt had been overwhelmed with the company's issues and Grace's troubles. If it weren't for her, his company wouldn't be in such a dire situation.

The more he spoke, the angrier he got. He threw down his knife and fork, sulking in his chair.

Grace lost her appetite, too. She pushed her bowl away and sat in her chair, thinking for a while before standing up. "I'm going out."

"What now? Are you going to cause more trouble? Our family is already in chaos. Get back here!"

Colt saw Grace getting up and shouted angrily at her back.

But Grace didn't listen and walked out the door.

She went to the Clark Villa.

Lucy was surprised to see Grace but quickly returned to her usual demeanor, sitting on the couch and flipping through a magazine.

"What are you doing here?"

Grace stood in front of Lucy, staring at her silently.

She resented Lucy for not speaking up when the police took her away, but now she had more important matters to ask for help with.

"Help me, help my family."

Lucy had been a bit scared by Grace's stare but relaxed upon hearing her request.

"Help you? After all the trouble you've caused? If I help you, it'll just confirm everyone's suspicions."

"How?"

Grace swallowed and carefully began, "Our family's business has tanked because of my arrest. My dad says we're close to bankruptcy. Lucy, I know the Clark family has the resources to help us. Please talk to Michael and ask him to invest in our company. That way, we can survive, and your family won't lose much. Help me this once, and I won't hold anything against you. I won't..."

"Hold anything against me?" Lucy narrowed her eyes, amused. "Hold what against me?"

Grace's supposed commercial theft charges had nothing to do with Lucy anymore. The police had no evidence. Grace was foolish to think she could threaten her.

So naive.

Grace was stunned, gripping the fabric of the couch tightly. "Lucy, are you trying to deny everything? Don't think I won't reveal the issues with Ling and Starlight Entertainment!"

"Go ahead."

Lucy seemed indifferent. Grace needed her help to save her family's business, so she wasn't worried at all.

"The police have no evidence and can't arrest me. Besides, you were just released. You wouldn't want to go back in because of this, would you?"

Lucy's casual words crushed Grace's last hope.

"Moreover, the Clark family has been dragged down by you. Why would I help you? Grace, I've never seen someone as foolish as you."

Lucy looked down at Grace, her contemptuous smile disappearing.

"People like you deserve to die."

"But if you want to save your family, there's a way." She leaned closer to Grace, meeting her eyes directly. "Get rid of Margaret completely, and I'll consider helping your family. Otherwise, don't even think about it!"

Lucy's voice turned sharp. She then turned away, busying herself without another glance at Grace.

Grace's imprisonment, the Smith family's impending bankruptcy, and Lyle...

All of it was because of Margaret. It was her, that unfaithful Margaret, who had to take everything away from Grace!

The long-held anger and jealousy in Grace's heart erupted, taking root and growing.

Her hatred for Margaret reached its peak.

"Fine, I understand. Wait for my news."

With that, Grace left the Clark Villa. Lucy watched the door close and only chuckled coldly, not taking it seriously.

Back home, Grace locked herself in her room again, ignoring Colt's scolding.

She was completely blinded by hatred.

Grace scoured the internet for reports about Margaret and information on her latest movie.
