Chapter 182 Will You Protect Me Again?

William took a big step and hopped onto the chopper.

The helicopter was doing these low loops, and William was peering through his binoculars, but all he could see was a whole lotta white. Snow was everywhere, like a giant white blanket, making it impossible to see squat.

"Slow it down," William barked. He couldn't afford to miss any clues.

The chopper kept circling, but all William saw was more snow.

"William, we've been over this place a bunch of times, and we got nothing," Angel said, sitting next to him, pretending to look for Margaret with her binoculars.

Angel was secretly thrilled. 'Everything's buried in snow; not even a tiny critter could be seen, let alone a human. She must be buried under all that snow!'

"Keep looking!" William's voice was icy and firm. He was convinced Margaret was out there somewhere, waiting for him to save her!

As time dragged on with no results, William's frown deepened. This wasn't working; they were just wasting time and finding zilch. Maybe they were too high up to see anything useful, which was why they couldn't spot any trace of Margaret. If they could search on the ground, they might find some clues.

"Peter, get me a parachute," William suddenly said, his face expressionless.

Peter was taken aback. "Mr. Fisher..."

Angel's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly cut Peter off, her lips tight, "William, why do you need a parachute?"

"I'm going down to find Margaret," William said firmly, his eyes narrowing.

"No, it's too dangerous!" Angel's eyes flashed with worry as she grabbed William's hand tightly. "William, don't go."

"I have to," William said calmly.

"Marjorie, I know you're worried, but once I've made up my mind, no one can change it," William said, pushing Angel away with a serious look.

Seeing Angel's eyes dim, William added, "Don't worry, Marjorie, I promise I'll be fine."

"Mr. Fisher, are you really gonna parachute down to find Margaret?" Juniper asked, moved, as she saw William deftly strapping on the parachute.

"Yep," William answered without a second thought.

"I'm going with you," Juniper stepped forward and said to Peter, "Peter, get me a parachute too."

"This..." Peter hesitated and looked at William.

William frowned. "Juniper, it's super dangerous."

"I'm not scared of danger, as long as we can find Margaret," Juniper said firmly, "Mr. Fisher, I care about Margaret's safety just as much as you do. You should get that."

William was momentarily stunned. 'Juniper is the big boss of Leo Studio. Why does she care so much about Margaret? Sure, Juniper and Margaret are tight, but risking her life for her? This friendship is something else. What else is there about Margaret that I don't know?'

Now wasn't the time to think about that. After a few seconds, William nodded. "Be careful."

He then looked at Peter and said, "Get a parachute for Juniper too."

"Yes, Mr. Fisher." Peter agreed right away.

Just then, the wind started to chill out, and the blizzard seemed to be easing up.

Peter handed the parachute to Juniper and said to William, "Mr. Fisher, the snowstorm's about to stop. Once it does, we can land directly. And as soon as it stops, the rescue team and everyone we brought can start searching on the ground."

"I'll go down first. As soon as the storm stops, you guys follow!" William couldn't wait any longer. He had to get down there now; Margaret couldn't wait! The sooner he got down to find her, the better her chances of making it.

With that, William turned and jumped out of the cabin, popping his parachute in one smooth move. Juniper was right behind him, jumping down with William.

"William, be careful!" Angel shouted, her hands clenched tight.

She watched William's determined figure as he jumped, and her heart sank bit by bit. 'Does Margaret mean that much to William? He's willing to risk his life, diving into that snow-covered forest to find her.'

She wanted to follow, but jumping from that height? Angel just didn't have the guts.

In the cave, Margaret sat on a big rock, hungry and thirsty. She looked at her phone; she'd been stuck here for thirty-six hours.

Margaret tried calling Juniper, but as expected, no signal. The emergency necklace Xavier had given her had fallen into the sea during the crash. Otherwise, she could've used it to call for Xavier's help. But now, all she could do was wait in the dark cave.

Margaret was worried, thinking, 'Would Juniper find the distress signal I left? With all this snow, if the red scarf got blown away or buried, it would be a disaster. If no one found my signal...'

Margaret rubbed her temples and pulled out a bag of cookies from her backpack, munching on a few pieces.

There wasn't much food left; it wouldn't last long. If no one came to rescue her soon, she might die here.

Margaret decided she couldn't just sit and wait. After eating the cookies to get some energy, she walked to the cave entrance.

The snow had sealed it shut. Margaret pushed hard, but it was no use! In these freezing temps, the snow had turned to ice, and she couldn't budge it.

Margaret smiled bitterly.

'With snow this thick, waiting for it to melt might take until next spring.' Thinking of this, Margaret felt incredibly down. She could only go back into the cave and look around, hoping to find another way out.

Unfortunately, despite her efforts, Margaret found no other exit. Now, all she could do was wait.

In her mind, William's handsome face popped up again. 'Margaret, don't worry, I'll protect you. Margaret, as long as I'm here, you'll be safe.'

Those words he once said to her echoed in Margaret's ears, lingering for a long time. She closed her eyes. Her heart felt heavy. 'William, I'm in danger now, do you know? Where are you? Will you still protect me?'
