Chapter 377 Nightmare

At this moment, Margaret was different from her usual gentle demeanor. Instead, she exhibited the same coldness and seriousness as William, with an added hint of warning.

She thought, 'This time is just a small punishment as a warning. If Lucy tries any more tricks next time, I won't be so lenient.'

Lucy looked at Margaret in disbelief, her eyes filled with resentment, surprise, and confusion.

But soon, all these emotions were replaced by hatred.

She wouldn't let Margaret continue to be so smug.

"Margaret, just you wait!" Lucy lowered her voice, gritted her teeth, and said this before turning around angrily and slamming the door.

Margaret looked at the closed door, shook her head helplessly, and sat down on the couch.

Indeed, she didn't have the energy to keep an eye on Lucy every day. The real priority was to keep an eye on "The Last Actor" and ensure the movie won an award.

At Water Moon Estate, eversince Angel successfully moved into William's apartment, she couldn't be happier, acting as if she were the hostess of the house. But she wasn't satisfied with just that.

What she wanted was to become the legitimate future hostess of the Fisher Family.

"William, why are you back so late?" It was already 8 PM. Angel had been sitting on the couch, glancing at the clock on the wall from time to time. When she finally heard the door open, she smiled and quickly walked to the door to greet William.

William ruffled her hair and smiled. "The company has been really busy lately, and I just closed a deal, so I got back a bit late."

Angel had been looking at him with concern because ever since she moved in, William hadn't come back often. She was afraid Margaret might pull some tricks again.

Hearing William's explanation, her doubts were finally dispelled.

Angel led William to the dining room and sat him down. She had personally cooked a few dishes and placed a steak in front of William. "William, I cooked this steak myself. Try it."

William paused, picked up a few pieces with his fork, and after chewing carefully, nodded. Then, as if remembering something, he said to Angel, "By the way, Marjorie, although your condition has improved, you still need to take care of yourself. Since I'm not home often and there's no one to look after you, I've hired a nurse to move in and take care of you, keeping an eye on your health. This way, if anything happens, she can inform me immediately."

Angel was momentarily stunned, her eyes involuntarily glancing at her olate.

Her so-called terminal illness was just a pretense. So Angle was afraid that William and the nurse he hired would find out.

William had been watching her, or rather, observing her reaction.

He tentatively asked, "What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"

Angel quickly snapped out of it and shook her head with a smile. "No, I was just thinking it might be too much trouble for you."

"Not at all. I've already made arrangements. The nurse will be here tomorrow."

After dinner, William stayed in his study to handle some work. Angel, unwilling to accept their current relationship, came up with a plan.

Only by taking their relationship further could she be sure that William and Margaret wouldn't rekindle their old feelings.

She changed into a new lace nightgown, carried a bowl of soup to the study door, and knocked gently, showing a sweet smile. "William, I made some mushroom soup. Have a taste."

Angel placed the soup on the table, her cleavage subtly visible. But William only glanced at her briefly before returning to his work. "Thank you. Just leave it there; I'll take it later."

Angel quickly hid her disappointment. She couldn't believe that William wouldn't be moved by her presence.

With this thought, she placed her hand on William's, sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and whispered, "William, it's so late, and you've been busy all day at the office. Why not take a break and rest?"

As she spoke, she intentionally moved closer, aiming to kiss his lips.

The atmosphere was incredibly intimate, but just as their lips were about to touch, William placed his hand on her shoulder.

Angel looked at William in confusion, her fingers tightening on his shoulder.

William gently pushed her away and said politely, "Marjorie, it's very late, and I still have some work to finish for tomorrow's meeting. You're not well; don't catch a cold. Go back to your room and rest."

"William." Angel's eyes widened in surprise. She hadn't expected William to refuse. After a moment of hesitation, she reluctantly let go and said, "I'll go to bed then. You should rest early too, William."

William nodded. As the door closed, his expression finally relaxed.

But less than three hours later, he heard Angel's panicked voice from outside. "William!"

William opened the door and found the sound coming from the bedroom.

He quickly walked over and opened the bedroom door, finding Angel sitting up with a pale face, her movements stiff as if she had seen something terrifying.

Angel blinked and, upon seeing William, finally dared to speak, her voice trembling, "William, I'm scared."

William walked to the bedside, took her hand, and asked with concern, "Marjorie, what's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"

Angel wrapped her arms around William's waist and nestled in his embrace, pitifully saying, "William, I'm scared. I dreamed about the time we were trapped in the cabin by kidnappers. They wouldn't let me see you. It was so terrifying."

William's lips tightened, his gaze momentarily distant, but he quickly regained his composure.

He gently patted Angel's back and spoke softly, "It was just a dream. It's okay. Marjorie, you won't have to live like that again. Don't worry."

"I know," Angel responded softly, looking up at him with a near-pleading expression. "But William, I'm still so scared, and I can't sleep. Can you stay with me?"
