Chapter 266 Inviting Mia for a Cameo

"Seriously?" Margaret's face got all serious when she heard that, and she shot back, "What went down?"

"Mia was one who messed with the flowers at the opening," Anthony said, his voice all deep and serious.

"Mia?" Margaret squinted a bit. This was kinda what she had expected.

At the last awards show, Margaret had totally called out Mia's shady stuff, and Mia's rep took a nosedive. Looked like Mia was holding a grudge and was out for payback.

Margaret didn't think Mia would be this stubborn, setting up a bunch of accidents to mess with her.

Margaret's eyes got colder. This time, she was gonna make sure Mia paid big time.

"Ada, what's your next move?" Anthony asked again, "If you need backup, just holler."

Margaret smirked. "I got my ways."

After hanging up, Margaret was about to call Lyle when his call came in.

"Hey, Lyle," Margaret answered.

On the other end, Lyle sounded worried. "Margaret, you good?"

Lyle's voice had a hint of disappointment.

On set, Margaret had almost gotten hurt, and William had swooped in and carried her off. He'd watched as Margaret got into William's car and took off.

"I'm fine." Margaret shook her head. "Actually, I need to talk to you about something."

"Whatever it is, just spill." Lyle's voice was gentle.

Margaret nodded and got straight to the point, "For our upcoming scenes, can you ask Wayne to add a plot with a pianist? Can you get Mia to do a cameo?"

"Mia?" Lyle was momentarily thrown.

"Yeah, please handle it," Margaret said calmly.

"Alright. Don't worry, I'll take care of it." Lyle agreed right away.

Since Margaret needed him, Lyle would do whatever it took. He kinda got why she wanted Mia involved.

Lyle dialed Mia's number. "Mia, it's Lyle."

"Lyle?" Mia's voice was all excited.

This was the first time Lyle had called her out of the blue.

Lyle's tone was super formal. "Our crew needs a pianist, and we want you."

Mia's eyes lit up. "No problem. Can you come over tonight to talk details?"

Lyle had planned to send Miguel with the contract, but Mia insisted he come in person, or she wouldn't agree. Lyle had no choice but to agree.

That night, Lyle drove to Mia's apartment. He rang the doorbell, and Mia showed up in a sexy spaghetti-strap dress.

Seeing Lyle's tall and handsome figure, Mia's eyes sparkled with admiration. "Lyle, you're here."

Lyle frowned a bit at her revealing outfit and looked away.

Noticing Lyle's reaction, Mia's eyes dimmed a bit, but she smiled flirtatiously. "Sorry, I usually dress down at home. I'll grab a jacket. Come in."

Lyle stepped inside, and Mia put on a jacket, but it was silk, making her figure even more alluring.

Lyle had been in the entertainment biz for years, so he totally got what Mia was up to. He had zero interest in her.

If it wasn't for Margaret, Lyle wouldn't have bothered coming to see Mia. He plopped down on the couch, staring straight ahead.

Mia was bummed by his cold and distant vibe. She thought that since Lyle had reached out, he still had a thing for her.

Mia wasn't about to give up. With Lyle here, she had to make her move. Thinking this, she poured a cup of hot tea and set it in front of Lyle. "Have some tea."

"Thanks," Lyle said, pulling out the script for the pianist role and handing it to Mia.

He spoke calmly, "Here's the script. The role's got a few scenes, but it doesn't need much acting skill. You should be able to handle it."

Mia took the script, flashing a charming smile. "Of course, if you're asking for my help, how could I say no?"

She didn't even glance at the script, just set it on the coffee table.

Mia hadn't invited Lyle over to talk about this. She had another plan.

"Lyle, you know I didn't ask you here just for this," Mia said, moving closer and gently grabbing Lyle's hand, looking up at him with a pitiful expression. "Back then, I didn't run off with another guy to go abroad. I had my reasons."

Talking about the past, a flicker of disgust crossed Lyle's face. He discreetly pulled his hand back and stepped away to keep some distance from Mia.

Seeing this, Mia's eyes filled with sadness. "I know you must hate me now, and I get that what I did is hard to forgive. But I want you to know, I truly love you. My brother forced me to go abroad, and I didn't get a chance to explain. All these years, my feelings for you haven't changed."

Mia's emotions got all worked up, her eyes welling up. She pointed to her heart. "Here, in this place, it's always been you, Lyle."

The air seemed to freeze, and Lyle looked at her with no expression.

"Lyle, believe me, I'm telling the truth. What happened back then was a misunderstanding! Can we start over?" Mia's eyes glistened with tears, making her look soft and innocent, tugging at the heartstrings.

But Lyle stayed unmoved and spoke coldly, "Mia, I've made it clear. I don't want to talk about the past anymore. No matter what your reasons were, I don't care. Because the only woman I've ever loved is Margaret."

With that, Lyle stood up, ready to leave. He didn't want to keep getting tangled up with Mia.

"Lyle, don't go!" Seeing Lyle about to leave, Mia hurriedly got up and tried to grab him.

Mia pretended to accidentally knock over the water cup on the coffee table. The scalding tea spilled all over Lyle.
