Chapter 59 Isn't This Margaret?

Margaret strolled out to the balcony, checked to make sure William wasn't tailing her, and picked up the phone. "Lyle, what's good?"

"I need to see you." Lyle's voice had that usual hint of sadness.

Margaret thought it over and said, "Alright, tomorrow at ten, Blue Note Cafe. Be there."

She had a bunch of stuff to remind Lyle about anyway.

"See you then." Lyle's voice perked up a bit.

Did her agreeing to meet mean he still had a shot?

The next day, Margaret left home early, but Lyle was even earlier.

Blue Note Cafe was smack in the middle of Ravenford's busiest street, a chill spot in the chaos, perfect for kicking back.

Lyle was driving, gripping the wheel like it was his lifeline, heading to the commercial street.

Trailing behind Lyle's car was Lucy's ride.

She had a few girlfriends with her for a shopping spree on the commercial street today.

Grace suddenly pointed excitedly at the car ahead. "Isn't that Lyle?"

Grace was a hardcore Lyle fan, totally obsessed. Ever since she saw that tall, brooding guy on screen, she was hooked.

She knew he was back in town and had been trying every trick to see him but kept striking out.

And now, she just happened to spot him on the road!

"From this distance, how can you be sure?" Lucy grumbled, annoyed.

"Yeah, Grace, stop dreaming. Lyle's not that easy to bump into," another friend added.

"I can see clearly; that's definitely Lyle." Grace was buzzing, eyes glued to the car ahead.

Even from the back, she was sure it was him.

"Why don't we follow him? I need his autograph and a selfie." Grace was starstruck. Running into him while out with Lucy had to be fate.

"You go if you want; I don't have time." Lucy's mind was all about William; she couldn't care less about other guys.

"Then I'm going, Lucy." Despite knowing Lucy was pissed, Grace couldn't resist Lyle's pull. She hopped out and flagged down a taxi.

"Follow that black car up ahead," Grace told the driver.

"Which one?" The driver squinted in the direction she pointed.

"The black one, hurry!" Grace urged, getting antsy.

After a slight delay, the taxi driver lost sight of the car.

When Margaret got to Blue Note Cafe, Lyle was already there, having booked the whole place for some privacy. He sat by the window, eyes glued to the entrance, waiting for the girl he couldn't stop thinking about.

"Margaret." Lyle stood up and walked over to her.

The girl in front of him, in a white dress, her figure perfectly highlighted by the cut. Her delicate face had a touch of confidence, graceful yet charming.

She was still the girl in his memories who made his heart race.

"Hey, Lyle." Margaret walked over and smiled. "Sorry, I'm late."

"Nah, I was just early." Lyle's deep eyes locked onto Margaret's face, brimming with affection.

He pulled out a chair for her like a true gentleman. "Got you your favorite mocha. That cool?"

Margaret sat down, took a sip, and nodded. "Thanks."

"Months without seeing you, and you're still as stunning as ever." Lyle didn't hold back on the compliments.

Even the way she sipped her coffee made his heart race.

Margaret felt a bit awkward and switched gears. "Why'd you come back all of a sudden? Weren't you signed with that foreign film company for six months?"

"I bailed on the contract." Lyle shrugged.

"What?" Margaret was floored. "Going abroad to become a top movie star was your dream. Why ditch it?"

"What's a dream compared to love?" Lyle's eyes had that melancholic glint. "Margaret, I don't buy that you like William. You're just trying to push me away, right?"

"Lyle, can you chill with the drama?" Margaret was getting annoyed. "Whether I like William or not is none of your business. Do you even realize the mess your contract termination will cause for the company?"

"I'll handle it." Lyle's voice was firm. "Besides, I think focusing on domestic projects is better for me, so I'm planning to shift Starlight Entertainment's efforts here."

"That's not your call alone." Margaret frowned. "Why are you being so impulsive?"

"I'm not acting on impulse. I've got solid reasons to back this up." Lyle's eyes were full of confidence. "I've got a detailed plan, and I'll show it to you soon. You'll see I'm right."

Margaret still looked grim. She agreed with focusing on domestic projects, but Lyle's solo actions were too much.

"Get it to me ASAP." Margaret frowned. "Even so, you can't just go rogue, and you shouldn't be shooting your mouth off to the media. I saw yesterday's news; don't you think you went overboard?"

"I don't think so," Lyle said quietly. "Acting is my career, but my life isn't just about my career. What I want most is to share my success and happiness with the girl I love."

Lyle's deep brown eyes sparkled with a strange light. He suddenly reached out and grabbed Margaret's hand, the one holding the coffee cup, and said in a deep voice, "Margaret, you know who that girl is."

Grace finally tracked down Lyle's car in the parking lot and took the elevator up to Blue Note Cafe.

Standing at the entrance, she peeked inside; the place was empty.

Did she mess up?

Grace was about to leave, bummed out, when she spotted two figures in the corner.

From her angle, she instantly recognized Lyle, the guy she was crazy about.

And the woman looked familiar too.

Grace squinted and was stunned. Wasn't that Margaret?
