Chapter 448 Won't Let Her Suffer
Parents always worried about their kids, and Madeline was no different. She'd been staying at the Hall Villa for the past few days and knew exactly how Dione treated Juniper. Now, as she talked to Ramon, her face showed clear reluctance.
Ramon was immediately upset when he heard this. He had cherished Juniper since the day she was born, treating her like a precious gem. How could she now be subjected to the Hall family's disdain?
However, compared to Madeline, Ramon was more composed. He set down what he was holding and asked seriously, "Is this true? Didn't they say Samuel woke up?"
"Yeah," Madeline sighed. "Samuel woke up, and that's the only reason his mom is treating Juniper a bit better. Otherwise, Juniper would have faced even more trouble."
"How can they treat people like this?" Ramon said sternly. Although Samuel's accident was related to Juniper, matters of the heart are unpredictable.
The Hall family had no right to bully others.
A moment later, there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Ramon and Madeline exchanged a glance, and Madeline raised her voice to ask.
The door opened, and Dane walked in. Seeing Dane, Madeline's attitude softened a bit. Compared to Dione, her husband was more reasonable.
"This is Samuel's father, Dane Hall," Madeline whispered to Ramon as she stood up. Then she smiled at Dane, "What brings you here? How is Samuel doing? I went to pick up my husband today and didn't have time to visit."
"Nice to meet you, Juniper's dad. I'm Samuel's father," Dane said, shifting his gaze to Ramon. Out of courtesy, he walked over to shake Ramon's hand.
"Nice to meet you," Ramon replied with a slight smile. He was more reserved compared to Dane's enthusiasm, nodding lightly.
"Juniper mentioned she booked rooms for you here. Now that Samuel is awake, I thought we could all have dinner at our place and discuss the kids' marriage."
Dane took a deep breath. This was the best solution he could think of, especially since Juniper had been a good kid.
"Alright," Madeline hesitated. She wasn't keen on facing Dione, but this matter needed to be discussed. Seeing Ramon's expression, she thought it over and nodded.
Dane finally relaxed and said with a smile, "Since you both agree, why don't we head over now? Samuel mentioned he missed you all."
Ramon and Madeline had bought some nutritional supplements for Samuel, given his recent recovery. When they arrived at the Hall Villa, Dione saw Juniper's parents. Despite her reluctance, she put on a polite front, though she didn't say much.
Juniper was genuinely happy to see her parents, and Samuel felt the same. He came downstairs and greeted Ramon and Madeline with a smile.
"Glad you could make it, Mr. Hayes. Juniper mentioned you just got into Ravenford today. Are you tired? How are you settling in?" Samuel asked, trying to break the ice.
"Everything's fine, Samuel. You need to take good care of yourself after just getting out of the hospital," Ramon replied, his expression softening as he saw Samuel. He knew Samuel was a good kid and exchanged a few pleasantries, gently patting Samuel's shoulder.
Dione watched the harmonious scene, feeling uncomfortable. Although Pryce was Juniper's guest, she couldn't help but feel uneasy about Samuel's past devotion to Juniper.
Soon, it was time for dinner. The parents sat facing each other, with Samuel and Juniper at the end. Juniper felt a sudden wave of anxiety, as if they were about to engage in a battle.
"The food is ready, and Mr. Hayes must be hungry after just getting off the plane. Please try our family's cooking and see if you like it," Dane said, trying to lighten the mood.
Everyone started eating, and Juniper looked to Samuel for reassurance, whispering, "Why am I so nervous?"
She knew they were here to discuss the marriage, as Dane had informed her beforehand. But seeing her parents like this made her uneasy.
Samuel glanced at her and shook his head slightly, squeezing her hand under the table to reassure her.
"It's okay, don't worry."
After a while, Dane felt it was time to bring up the topic. "The reason we invited you for dinner is to discuss the kids' marriage. Samuel has recovered, and Juniper is expecting his child. Delaying the wedding wouldn't be good for either family, right?"
Juniper lowered her eyes, her movements slowing. She knew this day would come, but it still made her uncomfortable.
"I understand," Ramon said, setting down his utensils and wiping his mouth with a napkin. "Mr. Hall, you know we've always cherished Juniper. This situation was unexpected, but we know Samuel is a good kid. We're willing to entrust Juniper to him."
"But I have one condition," Ramon continued, looking up. "Samuel and your family must treat Juniper well, like their own daughter. Otherwise, our child won't be marrying into your family to suffer."
Dione's face darkened, clearly displeased. She knew Ramon was indirectly criticizing her.
"I understand. Every parent loves their child. Juniper is a good kid, and she's done a lot for Samuel. Rest assured, the Hall family will ensure she doesn't face any hardships," Dane said, trying to smooth things over.
"That's good to hear," Ramon replied, but Dione grew increasingly irritated.
"Mr. Hayes, you can't say that. If it weren't for Juniper, Samuel wouldn't have had the accident. Although Samuel is better now..."
