Chapter 451 Guarantee Absolute Safety
Margaret thought, 'I've got the design drafts all set, and I've tweaked them a few times, so we should be good. But I swung by to see if the studio's got any cool materials or sketches that might help me polish the details. The finished pieces will be ready in a few days, but I might be bugging you guys a bit more.'
She chuckled, adding a playful vibe to her words. Only with these friends and William could she truly unwind.
"Why are you talking like that? This is your studio, remember? You're the one in charge here."
"Yeah, Leo's right! When did you start acting all formal? We wish you'd hang out every day and never head back to Solstice. We'd love it if you stayed and worked with us."
Everyone chimed in with reassurances, mixed with teasing and jokes. Margaret looked around at the scene and couldn't help but smile genuinely.
True friends were the ones who always had your back, no matter what.
"Oh, Camille," Margaret said, setting down her pen and turning to her. "Once I wrap up the garment design, make sure to enter it into the competition for me. I'll give you the timeline tomorrow so you don't forget."
Camille snapped her fingers with a grin, "Don't worry, I'm always the one taking the clothes to competitions. I won't forget something like this."
Margaret nodded and smiled at her colleagues, "Alright, everyone, back to work. I'll be heading out soon."
Half an hour later, Margaret told Camille she was leaving. As she stepped out of the office, she unexpectedly spotted a familiar figure by the door.
Mia.
What was she doing here?
Margaret subtly furrowed her brow but quickly returned to her usual demeanor when Mia looked her way. Mia had been waiting there, and when Margaret emerged, she acted nonchalant, her eyes filled with delight.
That performance could win an award.
"Well, look who it is," Mia greeted Margaret as casually as ever.
Margaret smiled back, well-versed in this kind of interaction. "Yeah, what a surprise. What brings you here?"
"I was getting a bit bored on my own, so I quit my last job. It wasn't going great anyway. I thought I'd travel abroad and heard this design studio makes killer outfits. I came to see if the designers here could whip me up a gown. Who wouldn't want beautiful clothes?"
"Oh, what are you doing here?" Mia tilted her head, curiosity evident.
Margaret exhaled softly. She wasn't sure what Mia was up to, but she knew she couldn't let on that she was aware of Mia's true identity.
"I'm just here to see a friend who's interning here. Just visiting, really, with nothing else to do."
"I see," Mia nodded thoughtfully, then perked up with a smile. "Since we keep running into each other, how about we grab lunch? My treat."
While being friendly is normal, Mia's enthusiasm seemed a bit much, especially since they weren't that close.
Margaret paused, curious about Mia's motives. "No, thanks," she said, shaking her head politely. "I'm just swinging by to see her and have some other urgent stuff to handle. Maybe next time."
"Oh, alright," Mia nodded, looking a bit let down as she watched Margaret walk away. A sly smile crept onto her face as she entered Leo's studio.
Margaret hadn't gone far. When she heard no footsteps behind her, she turned back just in time to see Mia slip into the studio. She pulled out her phone and walked a bit further, sending Camille a quick message.
"If someone wants to order a gown, keep an eye on her for me. I know her well, but don't let on that you know anything. Got it?"
Camille's phone buzzed twice, and she saw Margaret's message just as Mia asked, "I'd like to order a gown. Can I get some information?"
"Got it!" Camille quickly replied to Margaret, then looked up to see Mia's smiling face. She immediately had a plan, standing up and greeting Mia with a friendly smile, "Hi there! I'm the manager here. You can chat with me about anything you need."
"Hi, I'm Anna," Mia said, shaking Camille's hand. "I'm looking for a custom gown, not too revealing, for a formal event. I'd like it in red with some unique design elements. Is that doable?"
"It sure is, but since it's handmade, it'll take a bit longer, and we need a fifty percent deposit upfront. I can take your order."
Camille nodded, though she hesitated slightly.
Mia was surprisingly straightforward, "Sure, no problem. I've heard your studio makes stunning gowns, so I wanted to check it out."
"If you're good with that, then we're all set." Camille smiled and nodded.
"Great." After leaving Leo's studio, Mia looked around, satisfied, and exited the building. She had just finished a call with Susan, and twenty minutes later, they met at a café near Susan's studio.
"Ms. Davis, calling me now, does that mean there's progress?"
"Yep." Mia's face lit up with a confident smile. "I went to Leo's studio today and saw Margaret. I told her I was there to order a gown. As for the designer handling my order, I've found out she's the current manager of Leo's studio, and Margaret trusts her a lot."
Mia recounted the events, nodding slightly at the end. "Don't worry, I'll find a way to get Margaret's competition design from her, guaranteed."
