Chapter 499 Unexpected
Early in the morning, Samuel had the kitchen whip up breakfast for Juniper. He gently kissed her forehead, "I'm heading to the office. You should take it easy at home."
Juniper's morning sickness had eased up a bit compared to the past few days, but she still felt pretty uncomfortable.
She slowly got up, "I'll walk you downstairs."
Samuel insisted that Juniper stay upstairs, not wanting her to strain herself. "Juniper, just rest in bed. I'll go down by myself. You don't need to come."
"It's okay, I want to see you off." Juniper smiled softly, slowly got up, put on a jacket, and walked downstairs with Samuel.
"Drive safe," Juniper said as she saw Samuel off at the door.
Watching Samuel leave, Juniper pursed her lips.
Unconsciously, she seemed to rely more and more on this man, and thoughts of Alden were becoming less frequent.
But was this love?
Juniper wasn't sure.
Compared to the passionate relationship she had with Alden, her relationship with Samuel felt more like a steady stream.
At the office, Samuel had just walked in when his agent immediately approached him. "Samuel, I got you a music video gig to promote your new song 'Love You Again.' The production team and director look promising."
Samuel took the tablet and reviewed the basic information about the music video. It was a simple project, but involved working with a female co-star.
"Who's the actress for this music video?" Samuel raised an eyebrow and asked.
The agent replied slowly, "She's a newcomer, just got back from abroad. You might need to guide her a bit during the shoot."
Samuel was known for his good reputation in the industry and had no issues working with new actors.
"Has she never acted before?" Samuel asked.
"Right, she just returned from abroad last week. She's a young and beautiful girl," the agent said. "She'll be coming to the office soon. I'll introduce you two so you can get acquainted."
Samuel nodded slightly, thinking it was just another routine job, and didn't give it much thought.
A few minutes later, the agent received a call from the actress. "Samuel, she's here. I'll go meet her."
Samuel sat in his office, quietly waiting while reviewing the music video's plot to pass the time.
"Samuel has a great temperament and a stellar reputation in the industry," Samuel could clearly hear the agent introducing him at the door. "Working with him will be a great learning experience for you."
A familiar female voice responded, "Thank you. I'll definitely learn a lot from Samuel and improve my acting skills."
Listening to the woman's voice, Samuel felt a sense of familiarity but couldn't pinpoint where he had heard it before.
Knock, knock. There was a knock at the door. Samuel called out, "Come in."
"Samuel, the actress is here. This is Rainey, the lead for the music video," the agent introduced.
Seeing the person, Samuel was taken aback. He furrowed his brow slightly and looked at the woman across from him. "Why is it you?"
Rainey had known that Samuel was the male lead for this music video. She had arranged it deliberately but still feigned surprise. "Samuel, you're the lead for this music video?"
Listening to their conversation, the agent realized that they might know each other.
He looked at them curiously and asked, "Samuel, Rainey, do you guys know each other?"
Before Samuel could respond, Rainey jumped in, "Samuel and I are neighbors. We grew up together. I didn't expect to run into him while shooting a music video. What a coincidence!"
"Yeah," Samuel nodded, keeping it brief.
So that's how it was. Hearing this, the agent felt relieved. "Since you already know each other, this collaboration should go smoothly."
He had been worried about the chemistry between Samuel and the new actress, fearing it might affect the performance.
"Why did you get into the entertainment industry?" Samuel was genuinely surprised to see Rainey and couldn't help but ask.
Rainey looked at Samuel with admiration and said softly, "It's all because of you, Samuel. I heard about your success as an actor while I was abroad and felt envious. I wanted to be like you."
In reality, she had entered the entertainment industry to get closer to Samuel.
"Rainey, the entertainment industry isn't as glamorous as it seems. It's actually quite tough, especially for actresses," Samuel advised kindly, knowing how difficult it was for female actors to establish themselves.
Rainey smiled sweetly, showing no fear. "Samuel, I know it's tough, but you're so outstanding. I don't want to fall behind. I want to develop my career in the industry too."
After hearing Rainey's words, Samuel didn't say anything more to dissuade her. He nodded slightly.
"The company arranged this music video for me. I was worried about working with an unfamiliar actress, but now that it's you, Samuel, I'll definitely learn a lot from you," Rainey said innocently.
Samuel's lips curved into a slight smile. "Don't worry too much. Just follow your instincts and logic. I'll guide you through the scenes that require more interaction."
Samuel still saw Rainey as a childhood friend and kindly offered his help.
Seeing Samuel being so nice to her, Rainey thought he had feelings for her and immediately stood close to him. "That's great. I'll cherish this opportunity to work with you."
Rainey stayed close to Samuel, always looking at him while talking. The agent noticed this and felt something was off, but then thought they were just childhood friends with a strong bond.
To break the awkward atmosphere, the agent handed them the script. "Samuel, Rainey, here's the script for the shoot. It's a simple love story. The key is to convey the intense emotions between the characters."
Samuel carefully reviewed the script, getting a sense of the characters' psychology.
Rainey, on the other hand, looked for any intimate scenes in the script, hoping to use them to get closer to Samuel.
"How should I convey these emotions? I'm worried I might not do well. Should we practice more?" Rainey asked innocently.
"I can rehearse with you a few times and go over the script together. That way, you'll get a better feel for the emotions," Samuel said calmly, treating Rainey as a newcomer and offering his guidance.
The agent watched their interaction thoughtfully, wondering if Rainey had feelings for Samuel.
But Samuel already had a fiancée, who was pregnant.
