Chapter 314 The Truth Will Soon Be Revealed
Daisy also tried her best to hide her guilt, with red-rimmed eyes and a face full of sorrow, she kept comforting William, "We are all very sad about your grandfather. Now you see Margaret's true colors. If it weren't for her, your grandfather wouldn't have died! She is too vicious! At this point, if you still listen to her and dissect your grandfather's body, that would be truly ungrateful. What we need to do now is to give your grandfather a proper burial, understand? I will help you settle your grandfather. If you continue to be confused and believe Margaret, your grandfather will not rest in peace even in death."
Daisy's face was full of grief, but in front of the board of directors, she maintained the composure of the Fisher Family's matriarch.
A small part of the board prioritized their own interests and didn't care whether Bradley was poisoned. What they were thinking now was, with Bradley dead and William injured and down, the Fisher Family was in chaos, and they wondered if they could gain their own benefits.
The majority, however, had been with the Fisher Family for many years and had deep feelings. Knowing that William could handle things, they were reassured.
"Mr. Fisher, you and your mother must take care." Seeing Bradley's body being wheeled away by the nurse, they all bid farewell to William and Daisy.
Angel squinted and quietly observed Daisy and Abigail. She had just seen a hint of joy in their eyes when the doctor announced Bradley's death.
This was very strange.
No matter how much Abigail and Daisy hated Margaret, Bradley was still their relative.
However, they weren't curious about how Bradley died, and even seemed quite happy.
Angel thought of a possibility and looked at the gloomy-faced William beside her.
"Mr. William Fisher, you don't look well. You should go back to your ward and rest. I will personally take Mr. Bradley Fisher's body to the morgue and contact the best funeral home. Your health is the most important thing right now; you must not collapse." James came to William's side, full of concern.
"William..." Daisy spoke, still trying to persuade him.
She knew his personality. His silence indicated that he was considering the possibility of Margaret's words.
Given his respect for Bradley, he might very well dissect the body for the truth.
"Mom, I'm tired. Let me rest," William said faintly.
Daisy wanted to say more, but William didn't look at her again and turned to leave, leaving them with a cold back.
As William left, Angel naturally followed.
"William, wait for me." Angel followed behind William, holding his arm.
A man was most vulnerable when he was most easily reached.
With the betrayal of his beloved woman and the death of his closest relative, under this double blow, Angel offered a warm embrace and gentle comfort. Coupled with his feelings for Marjorie, she didn't believe he could remain indifferent.
At the entrance of the operating room, only Daisy and Abigail were left.
"That damn bitch Margaret, even after leaving, she still tries to sow discord. She has caused a rift between me and William. Now that she's in jail, I will make sure she doesn't have a good time in there!" Daisy's well-maintained, delicate face was full of resentment. She grabbed her phone, ready to contact someone to deal with Margaret, who had been taken away.
Abigail quickly held her hand. " Aunt Daisy, don't be impulsive. Now is not the time to think about this. Right now, we..."
She paused, looked around, and seeing no one, lowered her voice and leaned in, "You kept emphasizing not to dissect Grandpa's body. William, being so meticulous, will definitely get suspicious."
"Really?" Daisy was terrified.
"Of course. We've been with William for so many years. Don't you know his personality? If William has someone check Grandpa's body and finds out he was poisoned, and it was us, we're done for!" Abigail tightly grabbed Daisy's arm, counting the crimes they had committed.
Once discovered, even though Daisy was William's biological mother, he would not hesitate to send her to prison, let alone her, a cousin with no blood relation.
"What should we do?" Daisy was scared out of her wits and looked at Abigail.
Abigail took a few deep breaths, calmed down, and quickly thought of a terrible idea.
She looked at Daisy and said, "Aunt Daisy, tonight we will go to the morgue and steal the body."
"What? Are you crazy!" Daisy's eyes widened, almost shouting, but Abigail quickly covered her mouth.
"Be careful not to be heard!" Abigail pulled Daisy into an empty ward.
Abigail carefully closed the door, made sure no one was around, and cleared her throat. "Aunt Daisy, this is our only option. If William finds out Grandpa was poisoned and Margaret is proven right, it will be easy to trace it back to us. We must destroy the evidence!"
Daisy felt a chill in her heart, her eyebrows tightly knit. "Does it have to be tonight?"
She was scared.
"It has to be." Abigail's eyes flashed with malice. "William is so smart, he will figure it out soon. We must act quickly! If William finds out anything, then..."
Thinking of the consequences of being discovered by William, Abigail felt very uneasy.
"Okay." Daisy was also desperate. She couldn't let William find out anything.
Margaret followed the police out of the hospital.
Reporters who had been waiting there swarmed around.
Bradley's death, especially at Margaret's hands, was a rare big news.
As soon as the reporters saw Margaret, they excitedly bombarded her with questions.
"Ms. Scott, it's said that Mr. Bradley Fisher's misfortune was caused by you. What do you have to say about that?"
"Ms. Scott, you don't have a medical license. Why did you treat Mr. Bradley Fisher without permission, leading to today's tragedy?"
"Ms. Scott, it's said that Mr. William Fisher called the cop, accusing you of intentional murder?"
Margaret coldly swept her gaze over everyone present. "Please move aside!"
The reporters looked at each other, wanting to ask more, but the police beside Margaret drove them away.
"Ms. Scott, please come with us to the police station and cooperate with our investigation," the chief said.
Margaret nodded calmly.
If her prediction was correct, the truth should come to light soon.
