Chapter 234 Lovesickness, Only You Can Cure

Seeing William like that, Margaret rushed over to help him out. "Let me see," she said, guiding him to the couch, her voice laced with worry.

William gave a small smile. "You actually care about me?"

Margaret ignored him and started checking his face, tongue, and earlobes. Nothing seemed off.

Thinking he might be faking it, Margaret frowned and asked coldly, "Where exactly does it hurt?"

"Here," William said, pointing to his chest with a pained look.

Margaret stood up, pulled out her phone, and pretended to dial. "If you're really sick, I'll call an ambulance."

"You can check me yourself," William said, grabbing her arm, his eyes intense. "I only want you to check."

"Alright, I've checked you. Nothing's wrong. Time to go home!" she said, yanking her arm away.

William put on a hurt expression. "I'm sick, and you're kicking me out?"

"What's really wrong with you?" Margaret sneered. "I don't see anything."

William suddenly stood up, towering over her, his voice deep and smooth. "Lovesickness."

He paused, then added, "Only you can cure it."

This guy was too much. Margaret blushed. "Can't deal with you," she muttered, pushing him away.

William groaned dramatically, "My heart! Margaret, save me."

"What do you really want?" she asked, looking at him sprawled on the couch, faking pain.

Williamsaid, his eyes narrowing, "I want to stay here tonight."

"Whatever," Margaret sighed, tired of his antics.

"Help me to bed," William pushed.

Margaret rolled her eyes. "Don't push it."

"A doctor should take care of their patients," he said, gripping her arm.

"You can sleep on the couch!" she snapped, shoving him down and turning to leave. But then, William suddenly stood up and scooped her into his arms.

"William, what are you doing?" Margaret yelped, caught off guard.

Ignoring her protests, he carried her to the bed and pinned her down.

"Let go of me!" she struggled.

"Margaret, just let me hold you," he said, wrapping her tightly in his arms.

Since Angel showed up, Margaret had broken off their engagement and kept her distance. It had been a long time since he felt this close to her.

Pressed together, Margaret felt a familiar rush of emotions. Or maybe she never really forgot.

William leaned in, unable to resist kissing her.

Seeing his face getting closer, Margaret's heart started to race.

Just as William's lips were about to touch Margaret's face, his phone went off.

Margaret snapped back to reality and shoved him away. "Your phone."

William frowned, glanced at it, and set it aside.

Out of the corner of her eye, Margaret saw Angel's name flashing on the screen.

The phone kept ringing, and William finally answered, sounding annoyed, "Marjorie, what is it?"

"William, my wound hurts," Angel's voice whined through the phone.

William frowned deeper. "If it hurts, let the doctor check it."

"But I miss you. Can you come to the hospital?" Angel's voice had that pitiful tone.

Margaret smirked, leaned closer to William's phone, and said teasingly, "William, didn't you just say you wanted to hold me?"

"I have something to do," William said, then hung up.

His intense gaze locked onto Margaret. "Margaret, are you jealous?"

Margaret rolled her eyes and switched gears. "What are you gonna do about Angel?"

William's smile turned cold. "Margaret, I know you dislike Marjorie. But eight years ago, she saved me. I can't just ignore that."

"So, even if she betrayed the Fisher Group and framed me, you're just gonna let it slide?" Margaret's voice was icy.

William cleared his throat. "I'll hold a press conference to clear your name. As for Angel, I'll make sure she's taken care of, and that's it."

"Do you want her to be your burden? Or do you still have feelings for her?" Margaret's face soured.

Seeing her like this, William reached out and held her hand. "Margaret, I owe Marjorie. If it weren't for her saving me back then, I wouldn't be here today."

"Have you ever thought that Angel might not be Marjorie?" Margaret asked with a sly smile.

William shook his head. "Marjorie has a plum blossom-shaped birthmark on her shoulder, and so does Angel. And Angel recounts the events of that year perfectly."

Margaret thought, 'Something's fishy here. I need to dig deeper. But for now, keeping Angel around has its perks.'

"I think Angel and Jack have some shady secrets. Angel betraying the Fisher Group isn't just about framing me," Margaret said thoughtfully.

William pulled her into a hug. "Don't worry, I'll have someone look into it."

Margaret calmly pushed him away, got up from the bed, and looked down at him. "Aren't you sick? Get some rest!"

William's face darkened. "What about you?"

"I'm sleeping on the couch," Margaret said flatly, grabbed a blanket, and headed to the living room.

Lyle's apartment was a studio with just one room and one bed. Now, with William stubbornly claiming her bed, Margaret had no choice but to crash on the couch.

Watching her walk away, William's eyes dimmed a bit. He was determined to win her back, no matter what.
