Chapter 394 Lyle Woke Up

"Save Grace?" Lucy repeated, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She smirked, clearly amused by the absurdity of the idea.

"Mr. Thomas, don't take this the wrong way, but let's be real here. Last time, Grace hired a hacker to swipe Starlight Entertainment's secrets. She ended up in jail, and you had to bail her out yourself."

"But this time? She brought a gun to the movie set, tried to kill Margaret, and ended up shooting Lyle instead. That's on her. No one made her do it, right? Mr. Thomas, the Clark Family isn't a charity. Get that straight."

"Besides, Grace is useless. She couldn't even handle the small tasks I gave her before. Now, because of some personal vendetta, she's back in jail. What could she possibly offer me if I help her out?"

"Save your breath. Don't beg for help for such a worthless daughter; it won't end well. As for me, I have no intention of helping any friends, especially if it means dragging the Clark Family into trouble."

Lucy spoke loudly, and the door to the room was half-open. Mia, returning from outside, overheard the conversation.

Grace?

She stopped in her tracks, her eyes involuntarily glancing down.

She ended up in jail because of Margaret and Lyle?

Lyle.

Mia thought of Lyle's affection for Margaret and felt a surge of anger. She was already in a bad situation because of Margaret, and now her beloved was shot because of her. How could she not hate her?

Mia clenched her fists tightly, her teeth grinding in fury, her gaze almost fiery.

[Margaret, I was planning to come back and settle the score with you later, but I didn't expect you to treat Lyle so poorly.]

[Don't blame me for making you experience true heartbreak!]

Mia suppressed her anger, controlled her emotions, and walked into the room with a polite smile.

Lucy hung up the phone after finishing her conversation. Hearing footsteps, she turned and saw Mia, smiling politely.

"Oh, it's you. Back from your walk?"

Mia nodded and extended her hand gracefully. "Sorry about earlier. Let's formally introduce ourselves. I'm Anna Kim."

"Hello, I'm Lucy." Lucy shook her hand politely, revealing a scar on her wrist.

Mia noticed the scar and sat down beside Lucy, feigning surprise. "How did you get that scar on your wrist? It's not good for a girl to have scars."

Lucy was momentarily stunned, her eyes lowering as she instinctively pulled at her sleeve. Her voice remained gentle. "It's nothing."

After the news of Lyle's shooting was exposed, many of his fans came to the hospital to visit him, but they were all kept outside.

Margaret had been taking care of Lyle in the hospital for five or six days. She placed fresh flowers and fruit by his bedside every day, as the doctor said a comfortable environment was beneficial for recovery.

Moreover, Lyle would need to replenish his nutrition once he woke up.

Margaret was sitting by the bed, peeling an apple, when she suddenly heard a faint sound from the bed. She looked up instinctively and saw Lyle's eyelashes fluttering, a sign that he might be waking up.

Margaret was both surprised and delighted. She quickly put down the knife and pressed the call button by the bed.

"Doctor, nurse!"

Soon, the on-duty doctor and nurse rushed in. Margaret stepped aside and said, "He seems to be waking up. Please check on him."

After a flurry of activity, Lyle finally woke up.

"The fact that the patient has successfully woken up means there are no major issues. However, he still needs to be observed and rest for a while to avoid any adverse reactions," the doctor explained.

Margaret nodded repeatedly. Lyle turned his head slightly and saw Margaret by the bed, smiling.

Margaret still cared about him.

After the doctor left, Margaret closed her eyes, her heart finally at ease. She turned and held Lyle's hand, smiling.

"Thank goodness, Lyle, you're finally awake."

"Sorry for worrying you." Lyle smiled, holding Margaret's hand and gently patting it. He looked at her face with sincere gratitude. "Margaret, I'm really happy to see you when I woke up. I didn't expect you to take care of me."

"Don't say such silly things. You took a bullet for me; of course, I have to take care of you."

Margaret carefully tucked the blanket around Lyle and gently reminded him.

"You just woke up, so you can't move around yet. The doctor said your surgical wound hasn't healed properly, and you can't eat solid food for a few days. You need to start with liquid food."

Margaret spoke slowly, but Lyle's attention was entirely on her face. He occasionally responded to her words, and when she turned to look at him, he paused and asked seriously.

"Margaret, the things I said to you before I was hospitalized were sincere. Now that you're here..."

"I know you're single now, and your engagement with Mr. Fisher has been called off. Would you consider accepting me?"

Lyle held Margaret's hand tightly, but she didn't know how to respond.

She hadn't broken up with William; she just couldn't tell Lyle for various reasons.

Margaret bit her lip and decided to gently sidestep the topic for now.

"You just woke up. Focus on your recovery first. We'll talk about this once you're fully healed, okay?"

William stood outside the hospital room, the door slightly ajar. He was about to enter when he heard Lyle and Margaret's conversation.

The bouquet in his hand suddenly felt incredibly heavy.

William had thought he was overreacting and came to the hospital to cheer up Margaret. But now, Lyle was awake and taking advantage of the situation.

William's smile vanished instantly. He pushed the door open forcefully and strode in, grabbing Margaret's hand with a firm grip.

"Margaret, come with me!"

"William, William!"

Margaret was surprised to see William. She tried to pull her hand away, but his grip was too strong. She had no choice but to be dragged out of the room.

Lyle watched them leave, his eyes darkening.
