Chapter 477 Mysterious Gift
Seraphina stood there for a moment, feeling a stinging sensation in her eyes. Her fingers twitched and then clenched into a fist as a wave of bitterness washed over her. She let out a self-deprecating laugh and turned to leave.
What was she expecting? She should have known Lyle would never like her.
Margaret, hearing this, was at a loss for words. She finally sighed and said sternly to Lyle, "Look, I know this is your business, but you need to think about the company, too. It's not just about you. I want to see you back at work, seriously, within three days."
Margaret rarely spoke so seriously. Lyle, knowing he had gone too far this time, nodded earnestly. "Alright, I get it. I'll be more careful."
After numerous challenges, the crew of "The Last Actor" finally wrapped up filming on schedule, thanks to the dedication of the director and actors. The editing team would have a tough time ahead, but they understood the importance of their work.
After all, there wasn't another boss as considerate as Margaret at Starlight Entertainment.
At the celebration dinner.
Margaret had booked a hotel hall to treat the crew to a wrap party. She stood up at the main table, raising her glass and smiling at everyone. "Thank you all for your hard work. Your dedication to the film has been incredible. I believe we'll achieve great success at the film festival!"
Everyone cheered, raising their glasses in unison. Amidst the joyful atmosphere, a young man dressed in black with white gloves, looking quite formal and imposing, walked in holding a blue velvet box.
"Excuse me, who is Ms. Scott?"
Margaret stood up, puzzled, and walked around the table. "That's me."
The man nodded slightly, smiling as he handed her the box. "Hello, a gentleman asked us to deliver this to you personally. If you don't mind, could you sign for it?"
Margaret took the box, bewildered.
Who could be sending her a gift in such a mysterious manner?
Could it be William?
Her close friends started teasing her, knowing she and William were about to get engaged. Naturally, they assumed it was from him.
"Margaret, Mr. Fisher is so thoughtful! The film just wrapped, and he's already sending you gifts."
"Yeah, your relationship is so sweet. Don't forget to invite us to the engagement party!"
As they continued to tease, Margaret opened the box to find an exquisite diamond necklace. She had seen this limited edition piece from Fleurancia in a magazine, handcrafted with diamonds and platinum, and very expensive. Other than William, she couldn't think of anyone else who would send such a lavish gift.
Margaret couldn't help but smile, closing the box and putting it away.
Hadn't William just given her a necklace a few days ago? And now another one?
When she got home around ten that night, she found William reading on the couch. Hearing her, he put down his magazine and sat up. "Why are you back so late? You should have called me to pick you up."
"It's fine!" Margaret shook her head, smiling brightly.
She was in a great mood, wrapping her arms around William's neck. "I didn't drink much, just got a ride from a colleague. By the way, why did you spend so much on a gift today without telling me? I wasn't prepared at all."
William, enjoying her affection, paused at her words, looking puzzled. "What gift? What are you talking about?"
Margaret was taken aback, confused by his reaction.
Could the necklace not be from him?
She took the box from her bag and handed it to William. "This. I saw it in a magazine; it's very expensive. Someone delivered it to our party today, and I thought it was from you."
William looked at the necklace, his confusion deepening. It was indeed valuable, and while he could afford it, he had been too busy with the engagement preparations to buy anything else, which Margaret knew.
"It's not from me." William shook his head, his expression darkening.
Who would send Margaret such an expensive gift so mysteriously?
Margaret frowned, setting the box aside. "Never mind, it doesn't matter."
She knew how to ease William's concerns, partly to reassure him and partly because she didn't want gifts from unknown sources.
The next day, shortly after Margaret arrived at the office, the front desk called.
"Ms. Scott, someone is here to see you. He says he's a friend."
"Who?" Margaret was puzzled. Her friends from Ravenford wouldn't need an appointment to visit Starlight Entertainment, let alone be stopped by the front desk.
"He says his name is Zane. Do you know him?"
Margaret froze at the name. Zane? What was he doing here?
She bit her lip, puzzled but not wanting to leave Zane waiting. Besides, their dance photo from the gala had already caused a stir, and she didn't want more drama.
"Send him to my office," She said calmly.
The receptionist nodded and hung up, turning to Zane. "Ms. Scott will see you in her office. Take the elevator to the eighth floor."
Zane's face lit up with a smile. Margaret still remembered him.
As Zane walked to her office, he drew the attention of several colleagues.
Most people couldn't resist a bit of gossip.
