Chapter 376 There Won't Be a Next Time

"No, I didn't! I'm innocent!" Grace kept backing away, her face full of panic. But the police didn't listen to her explanations and took her away while she continued to protest.

As she passed by Lucy, Lucy averted her gaze, a small gesture that Margaret noticed.

The media reporters who had come to the ceremony hadn't all left yet, and many witnessed the scene, with the sound of camera shutters clicking incessantly.

Grace Thomas attempting to steal secrets from an entertainment company and being taken to the police station—what a sensational piece of gossip.

It was definitely going to be a hot topic.

The next morning, several trending topics about Grace being taken to the police station appeared on social media, and even Starlight Entertainment had a spot on the trending list.

#Grace Suspected of Stealing Starlight Entertainment's Secrets, Who Has Been Taken to the Police Station!#

With all this commotion, Starlight Entertainment and the movie "The Final Actor" received a lot of attention, and their stock prices soared.

In contrast, the Thomas Family's already declining situation worsened, with business coming to a halt and many partners calling to cancel contracts.

At the police station, Grace sat in the interrogation room, staring blankly at the table, her eyes darting around. The police officer across from her asked sternly, "Why did you steal Starlight Entertainment's internal secrets? Do you know that's illegal?"

Grace shook her head repeatedly, denying. "It wasn't me; it was Ms. Clark! She threatened me to do it!"

She never expected things to escalate to this point, even being taken to the police station. If she didn't expose Lucy, she might end up in jail, which would be a lifelong stain on her record.

Grace's eyes flashed with a fierce look.

Hearing that, the police officer was momentarily stunned, then signaled the recorder to note everything down. Since another person was mentioned, it indicated there might be an accomplice.

"You said she made you do it. Do you have any evidence?"

"Evidence?" Grace panicked for a moment, then shook her head helplessly. "I don't have evidence, but I swear everything I'm saying is true. She was jealous Margaret and made me find someone to hack into Starlight Entertainment's network to teach Margaret a lesson! I was just following orders."

The police officer nodded and put down his pen. "Alright, we understand. We'll investigate this, but until things are clear, you can't leave the police station."

Grace was escorted out of the interrogation room.

After returning from the opening ceremony,Lucy was restless, her mind filled with Grace's look when she was taken away and Margaret's smile at that moment.

'No way, Grace wouldn't expose me, right?' She bit her lip and furrowed her brow, lost in her panic, not even hearing Michael calling her. "Lucy?"

Lucy snapped back to reality at the sound, almost knocking over the water cup in Michael's hand.

"What's wrong?" Michael asked, concerned about Lucy.

Lucy adjusted her emotions slightly, forced a smile, and shook her head. "I'm fine, just a bit tired lately."

As Lucy and Michael were talking, there was a sudden knock on the door. Michael went to open it and saw several police officers, looking surprised. "Hello, can I help you?"

Lucy glanced away, a look of panic flashing in her eyes.

The lead officer looked past Michael at Lucy, then quickly looked back at Michael and said officially, "Hello, we're here to investigate the theft of Starlight Entertainment's secrets. It's said that Ms. Clark is involved, and we need her to come with us to assist in the investigation."

"Lucy?" Michael asked in disbelief, then turned to look at Lucy. Lucy's face turned pale, and she quickly denied it. "I didn't do it! I was there that day, but I don't know anything about it, Michael."

Michael knew Lucy was stubborn, but he didn't believe she would do such a thing. He quickly explained, "Officer, you must be mistaken. Lucy was just out for fun. She wouldn't steal secrets. She's still recovering from her injure and can't handle much stress. If you don't have evidence, you can't just take her away."

Michael managed to persuade the police to leave without taking Lucy. He thought the matter would blow over, but a paparazzo near the Clark family residence caught wind of it.

The news of the police visiting the Clark Family quickly spread, causing their company's stock to plummet.

Lucy was furious and decided to find Margaret.

Margaret was checking the stock market and had heard about the Clark Family's stock drop. Seeing the downward trend on the screen, she smiled.

She thought, 'Lucy, I hope you can stay out of trouble from now on.'

At that moment, there was a knock on the door, and an angry Lucy walked in.

"Margaret, how dare you scheme against my family and me! How can you be with William if you're like this? Does he know what kind of woman you are?" Seeing Margaret, Lucy lost her composure, quickly approaching and rudely pointing at Margaret, scolding her as if she had done nothing wrong to Margaret.

Margaret looked at her calmly and finally smiled lightly, as if she didn't take Lucy seriously.

Lucy was enraged, raising her hand, but Margaret quickly grabbed her wrist.

She stared into Lucy's eyes, her previous smile replaced by coldness and unfamiliarity. "Lucy, I've been bear you for a long time. Don't think I'm easy to bully. Grace has always been your lackey. Without your orders, would she have hacked into our company's network?"

Hearing that, Lucy's face turned pale.

Margaret released her hand and warned coldly, "If you try to harm me again, it won't be as simple as this time!"
