Chapter 15: The Familiar Woman
William was instantly infuriated and turned to leave.
Just as he stepped out of Margaret's room, William bumped into Abigail. In the brief moment when the door swung open and shut, Abigail caught a glimpse of Margaret lying on the bed.
"Bro, why are you coming out of Margaret's room?" Abigail asked, her curiosity piqued.
William, visibly annoyed, brushed past her without a word and walked away.
Abigail became even more curious. "You weren't in her room since last night, were you?"
Hearing Abigail's voice early in the morning, Margaret irritably rubbed her head and got up to freshen up in the bathroom.
She knew herself well and was certain she must have looked terrible last night. The thought of William seeing her in such a vulnerable state made Margaret unhappy. She was very strong-willed and never liked to show weakness in front of others.
If William ever used this to mock her in the future, wouldn't that be humiliating?
It was all Ella's fault. How dare Ella mess with her like this?! Margaret vowed never to let her get away with it!
After freshening up, Margaret went downstairs to the dining room. The moment William saw her, he got up and left.
Margaret was used to his behavior; this was the William she knew.
They didn't entangle. After the three-month period was over, they would never see each other again.
Margaret was more than happy for him to treat her coldly. William's tenderness last night made her sense a hint of danger.
Margaret always reminded herself: never be the first to fall in love.
After the upheaval of last night, Margaret was now very tired and desperately needed to recharge.
Abigail, who didn't dare confront Margaret earlier, immediately questioned her now that William was gone, "You have just been here a few days, and you are already seducing William. What did you and he do? Why did he come out of your room this morning?"
Daisy, hearing this, also questioned, "Is this true? Margaret, what exactly are you trying to do? And where were you all night yesterday?"
Facing their questioning, Margaret sneered inwardly and her lips curled into a mocking smile. "We're all adults. If you think a man and a woman sharing a bed implies something scandalous, then so be it."
"You!" Abigail stomped her foot in anger, "All you do is seduce men, you slut!"
"Watch your mouth." Margaret elegantly took a bite of her breakfast. "My fiancé and I sharing a bed is literally legitimate. How is that seduction?"
Abigail was rendered speechless by Margaret's retort. Her hands clenched tightly, her heart filled with jealousy and anger.
Why should such an outstanding man like William marry this country bumpkin?
Margaret was completely unworthy of William!
After finishing her breakfast, Margaret was about to go to work when the driver approached her. "Madam, Mr. Fisher instructed me to take you to the company."
Margaret stopped in her tracks. William had specifically instructed the driver to take her?
How strange!
Just as Margaret was about to say something, Daisy coughed and glared at Margaret before turning to the driver. "Frank, take me to the Paris Mall."
"But, ma'am, Mr. Fisher told me to take Miss Scott to the office." Frank hesitated, looking very troubled.
"It’s alright. Please take her first. I’ll find another way to the office," Margaret said with a smile, not wanting to make Frank uncomfortable. She hailed a cab and headed straight to the Fisher Group office building.
But on the way, Margaret saw a stray puppy in the middle of the road, darting dangerously back and forth in the middle of the road. The sight made her heart ache.
"Sir, please stop the car," Margaret instructed the cab driver urgently.
Margaret quickly got out of the cab, intending to rescue the puppy.
Xavier had a kind heart and had taken in many stray dogs. Margaret had always had a deep affection for dogs since she was a child.
As Margaret approached the puppy, suddenly, a red sports car sped straight towards it.
The situation was extremely critical!
The car was about to hit the puppy!
Without thinking, Margaret lunged towards the puppy, holding it tightly in her arms.
The screeching of brakes drew the attention of nearby pedestrians. The sports car brushed past Margaret, and as it passed, a fashionably dressed woman in the driver's seat stuck her head out and shouted, "Are you crazy?"
This woman looked somewhat familiar.
