Chapter 180 I Will Definitely Save Margaret

"Call the cops! Like, right now!" Juniper was losing it, trying to catch her breath. Her hands were shaking as she punched in 911.

A few dudes nearby just shook their heads, looking all sorry. "Calling the cops ain't gonna do squat. If there's been an avalanche, she's probably toast."

Juniper snapped, "Shut up! Margaret's gonna be fine!"

Everyone around just froze, staring at her. Stella stepped up, gave Juniper a little shoulder pat, and tried to calm her down. "Hey, Juniper, chill. Miracles happen, you know?"

Juniper nodded and got on the horn with the rescue team. "Please, hurry! My friend's stuck in the mountains, and there's been an avalanche!"

The rescue team showed up fast, but the blizzard was going nuts. The captain took one look at the crazy snowstorm and said to Juniper, all serious, "I'm sorry, Juniper, but we can't start a rescue in this weather."

"But my friend's in danger! We gotta find her now!" Juniper was freaking out.

"Juniper, I get it, but I gotta keep my team safe," the captain said, looking stern. "The blizzard's still raging, and there's a chance of another avalanche."

Juniper got it, but how could she just stand there while Margaret was in trouble? She didn't even know if Margaret was alive or dead.

Desperate, Juniper decided to call William.

Margaret had told her not to involve William, but screw that—this was life or death.

Over at the Fisher Group building, in the CEO's office, William was deep in work when Angel knocked. "William."

"Come in," William said, not looking up.

Angel walked in.

"Marjorie, what's up?" William asked, glancing up for a sec.

Angel, holding a document, said softly, "William, there are some parts of this document I don't get. Can you help me?"

William glanced at the document in Angel's hand. "Marjorie, this one's too advanced. Since you're new, start with something easier."

Angel bit her lip. "I wanna learn fast."

"Okay, I'll have Peter set you up with a senior employee. You can ask her anything," William suggested, still sounding distant.

"Oh." Angel felt a bit let down. She'd hoped to get closer to William, but he brushed her off. Seeing how busy he was, Angel said softly, "If there's nothing else, I'll get back to work."

"Okay," William replied, not even looking up.

Angel turned to leave, but just as she reached the door, she heard William's deep voice. "Marjorie."

Her heart skipped a beat, and she stopped. She turned around, looking at William's ridiculously handsome face, her heart racing.

Angel's eyes sparkled with admiration. "William, anything else?"

William stood up, a slight smile playing on his lips. "I've got a new apartment lined up for you. After work, I'll have someone take you to check it out."

Joy lit up Angel's face.

'Wow, William really does care about me.' With that thought, Angel grabbed William's arm, her voice soft and shy. "William, you're so good to me."

Before she could finish, William's phone rang. He pulled his arm back, looking at his phone with a blank expression.

It was an unknown number. William figured it was probably spam and ignored it. But the caller was persistent, like they wouldn't quit until he picked up.

After a few rings, William frowned and finally answered. The voice on the other end was familiar and panicked. "Is this William?"

"Yeah, it's me," William said, his tone serious.

Juniper's tearful voice came through. "It's Juniper. Margaret's in trouble!"

"What?" William's heart skipped a beat. "What happened to Margaret?"

"Margaret got caught in an avalanche!" Juniper shouted.

Thinking about Margaret's uncertain fate and the rescue team's inability to reach her, Juniper started to break down.

William's eyes darkened with worry. Questions poured out. "Avalanche? What happened? Where are you? Where's Margaret?"

Juniper took a few deep breaths to calm down before explaining, "Margaret went to Glacial Crest with me to find Pryce to treat Bradley. She went into the mountains alone, but..."

"But what?" William asked urgently.

"But the conditions there are brutal. Shortly after Margaret went in, a blizzard hit. This morning, I heard there was an avalanche on the path she took. I can't reach her. She must be in trouble; otherwise, she'd have contacted me."

William's grip on his phone tightened. 'Why is she so reckless?'

Thinking about how he had coldly driven Margaret away when she visited Bradley in the hospital, William's heart felt like it was being torn apart.

"I'll bring a team over immediately," William said after a moment, "Juniper, listen. I'll contact the local rescue team right away. You go with them to find Margaret, and I'll join you as soon as I can."

"I've already contacted the rescue team, but the blizzard hasn't stopped, and the conditions are too harsh for them to go in," Juniper said helplessly.

"Make them find a way in!" William's face darkened, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Juniper nodded. "I'll try to persuade them again."

After a pause, Juniper raised her voice. "William, you have to save Margaret. You must save her!"

"I will!" William said without hesitation.
