Chapter 306 Devoted
The next day, Margaret woke up groggily and rubbed her eyes.
She saw Juniper sitting by her bedside.
"Margaret, you're awake?" Juniper asked with concern, "How are you feeling?"
"Much better." Margaret felt a warmth in her heart at Juniper's concern.
"By the way, Pryce asked me to give this to you." Juniper took out a bottle of medicine and handed it to Margaret, carefully explaining Pryce's instructions.
Margaret took the medicine from Juniper. "Pryce left?"
"Yes, he told you to take good care of yourself," Juniper replied.
Margaret nodded. "Juniper, could you please bring my laptop over here?"
"You're not fully recovered yet, you should take a break from work." Juniper frowned disapprovingly, thinking Margaret was about to go into workaholic mode again.
Although she came to discuss the design competition with Margaret, she didn't want Margaret to overexert herself while still injured.
Margaret smiled. "I'm not going to work. William and I are getting engaged, and I want to design our engagement outfits myself."
Juniper was stunned.
"So, you've decided?" Juniper was still a bit worried, fearing Margaret agreed because William saved her life. "You don't mind about Marjorie anymore?"
Margaret shook her head, smiled mockingly. "Angel? That hypocritical woman? As long as William knows who's more important. Besides, she won't be arrogant for long."
Anthony had found more and more information about Angel, and Margaret was sure this Marjorie was a fake.
But Margaret's intuition told her there was a big conspiracy behind Angel.
Therefore, she wasn't in a hurry to expose Angel.
When she strikes, she wants to completely crush her opponent.
"Since you've decided, I'm relieved." Juniper nodded.
She could see that William truly loved Margaret.
He was willing to risk his life for her, showing how much he loved her. Such a man was indeed worth spending a lifetime with.
It was just a pity that his leg was injured because of it.
"Juniper, don't worry. I've thought it through. I love William," Margaret said firmly.
"Okay." Juniper had long seen that Margaret had feelings for William. Now that Margaret could face her feelings, Juniper was happy for her.
"I'll go get it for you. Is there anything else you need?"
Margaret thought for a moment. "Get me some fabric, the best quality. My foot is inconvenient, so you pick it for me."
"Okay." Juniper agreed and left.
Margaret watched Juniper leave, then got into her wheelchair. She wanted to see William.
She knocked on William's door, and his cool voice quickly responded, "Come in!"
Margaret wheeled herself in and saw William sitting on the bed, with bottles of medicine and gauze on the small table.
"What are you doing?" Margaret asked, puzzled, as she approached the bed.
"Changing my bandages," William said curtly, looking displeased.
"Let me call a nurse to help you," Margaret said, about to leave.
The next second, he grabbed her arm. "Don't. James will help me when he's done."
"Why wait for James? Can't a nurse do it?" Margaret asked, confused.
William raised an eyebrow. "Do you want another woman to see and touch my body?"
Margaret was speechless.
Even though she knew nurses treated patients with pure intentions, William's words made her feel odd.
She really didn't want to see that.
"Then I'll help you," Margaret said after thinking.
"But your foot?" William looked at her feet with his dark eyes.
"It's fine, just a foot injury, not a disability." Margaret quickly changed the subject. "I didn't mean that, don't misunderstand."
William said calmly, "It's okay."
Margaret saw the hurt flash in his eyes despite his words, and felt even more heartbroken.
She got out of the wheelchair and grabbed William's hand. "Don't worry, I, will never despise you! Besides, your leg can be healed!"
"I believe you." William looked at her with gentle affection.
"Where's the wound?" Margaret asked, meeting his deep gaze.
When they fell off the cliff, she only saw the external injuries on his leg, nothing else.
"My back." William turned around, unbuttoning his shirt to reveal his muscular back.
Margaret's breath caught. She was a healer, having learned medicine from Pryce.
But she had never seen such horrific wounds.
His back was almost entirely covered in open, pus-filled wounds, clearly from severe impacts.
Margaret's mind flashed back to the cliff fall. He had grabbed her, shielding her with his back.
As a result, he was the only one severely injured.
Margaret's eyes reddened, her hands trembling as she held the medicine and cotton swabs.
She felt deep pain.
"Does it hurt?" Margaret asked, her voice trembling.
"It's okay." William shrugged. "As long as you're okay, I'm okay."
His words made Margaret's heart ache even more.
Margaret's eyes filled with tears. "William, don't worry. I'll treat your wounds well and make sure there are no scars."
She took a deep breath, calming herself, and carefully treated his wounds.
In her focused attention, she didn't notice the cunning glint in William's deep eyes.
'Margaret's totally devoted to me now.' William felt great, though his face still showed a hint of sadness.
After over an hour, Margaret waited for the ointment to dry and bandaged his wounds, finally breathing a sigh of relief.
"Put your clothes on, don't catch a cold." Margaret carefully helped him with his shirt, buttoning it herself.
"Did you cry?" His gentle voice came from above her head.
Margaret lowered her head. "No."
"I heard it." William lifted her chin gently, seeing the faint tear stains on her clean face.
William suddenly felt a bit regretful to deceive her.
