Chapter 87 Ella Testifies Against Margaret

William's face went ice-cold. Margaret's obvious rejection and struggle in his arms just lit a fire in him. He wanted to show her that their relationship was more than just a piece of paper.

He wanted more.

William's strong hands gripped Margaret's waist, pulling her closer. Margaret shuddered, squirmed a bit, and snapped, "Let go of me!"

"What if I don't?" William smirked, his voice icy.

The break room's vibe got real tense.

Then, a knock on the door. "Anyone in there?"

Another voice chimed in, annoyed, "Who the heck locks the break room? Think it's their own house or something?"

Margaret seized the moment to break free. "Let go of me. Someone's coming."

She slipped out of William's grasp, opened the door, and bolted. The two employees who walked in looked at each other, puzzled.

"Was that Margaret just now?" the tall one asked, curious.

The short one huffed, "Yeah, it was her. Can't believe we got a murderer in the company who made the news. How's she still showing up here?"

As they gossiped, a cold voice cut through. "You two don't need to come to work tomorrow."

Seeing William's icy glare, they froze.

William's handsome face was twisted with rage, and the chill he gave off dropped the room's temperature.

After his words, William stormed out, leaving the two employees stunned, regretting they hadn't looked around before gossiping about their boss' fiancee.

Margaret had just sat down at her desk when her phone rang. It was Gray.

"Officer Gray, what's up?" Margaret answered, trying to sound polite.

Gray's voice was serious. "Ella's woken up."

Margaret's eyebrows shot up. "Really?"

Gray continued, "After she woke up, we took her statement. She insists you pushed her into the water."

"Oh," Margaret's brow twitched, but she stayed calm.

She wasn't surprised. Ella waking up and pointing fingers at her was expected.

She had tried to save Ella, but Ella turned it around on her.

Gray added, "So, don't leave Ravenford and cooperate with the investigation. We'll get to the bottom of this."

Margaret nodded. "Got it."

Even though William tried to keep things quiet, now that Ella was awake and accusing Margaret, reporters swarmed the hospital, eager for a scoop. But since it wasn't visiting hours, the hospital kept the reporters out of the ward.

So, they called Ella. "Miss Lewis, it's rumored someone pushed you into the lake. And that someone is the fiancée of the Fisher Group's president. Is that true?"

On the phone, Ella cried out, her voice raw. "Yes, I didn't fall by accident. Margaret pushed me into the lake! You have to get justice for me!"

"Can you spill the details? Why'd Margaret push you into the water?" the reporter pressed.

"How about this: swing by the ward tomorrow, and we'll chat face-to-face." A sly, sinister look flashed in Ella's eyes.

If she spilled everything now, it'd just be a one-day buzz. But by hinting at the story and saving the full reveal for a live interview tomorrow, she'd get way more media attention and let public opinion tear Margaret apart!

Ella set up a livestream with the reporters for the next day's visiting hours. She'd lay out how Margaret framed her, pushed her into the water, and coldly watched her drown.

After hanging up, a vicious glint appeared in Ella's eyes. She'd barely escaped death this time, but she was hell-bent on sending Margaret to prison! Almost losing her life was worth it to get rid of Margaret.

Just then, Ella got a call from an unknown number. Thinking it was another reporter, she adjusted her tone to sound like a victim. "Hello."

"This is Lucy." Lucy's voice came through. "You did well this time."

"Don't worry. Margaret's going down for sure!" Ella's lips curled into a smug smile. "As long as I keep telling the cops and the media that Margaret pushed me, and with Abigail and the others backing me up, Margaret's definitely getting some jail time!"

"Good," Lucy said, satisfied. "Even though it didn't go exactly as planned, you did great. By the way, you didn't leave any evidence, right?"

"Of course not," Ella said confidently. "I made sure before acting. Besides Margaret and me, no one else was around. Even Abigail and the others showed up after I fell in. No one will know I accidentally fell."

"Good." Lucy nodded. "Handle this right, and I promise you'll be back at the Fisher Group."

"Thanks!" A determined look flashed in Ella's eyes. This time, to get rid of Margaret and get back to the Fisher Group, she was all in. Failure wasn't an option!

By evening, the news was blowing up again. With Ella's personal testimony, the story's readership skyrocketed, and the online hate for Margaret intensified.

In the president's office, William leaned back in his chair, his long fingers swiping across his phone screen. Seeing the trending accusations and curses from Ella against Margaret, his eyes narrowed slightly.

Peter pushed the door open and walked in. "Sir, I found what you asked for."

He handed William a USB drive.

William took it, plugged it into his computer, and started playing it. Watching the screen, his lips curled up. "Very good."

"Should I have the news about Miss Scott pulled?" Peter asked.

These media outlets would do anything for clicks. They even wanted to do a live interview. What were they thinking?

William stared at the screen, his lips slightly parted, and said calmly, "No need."
