Chapter 219 Provoke Marjorie

"What?" Angel blurted out, eyes practically popping out of her head.

William had totally promised Angel he'd swing by her place last night to chow down on the dinner she whipped up just for him. But William ghosted her. She had a whole feast ready and waited forever, but he never showed. She called him up, and he fed her some line about working late at the office. But he was obviously with Margaret!

Jealousy flared in Angel's eyes as she gave Margaret the once-over, wishing she could laser her into oblivion with just a look. The jealousy was burning her up inside, but she couldn't blow up in front of William.

Angel stepped forward and yanked Margaret aside, her voice dripping with hurt, "William, didn't you say you had to work late last night? Why were you with Margaret?"

"Yeah. I was talking business with Margaret last night," William said flatly, barely glancing at Angel.

Angel looked down, feeling super wronged. "William, I waited for you all night."

"Didn't I explain it when you called me last night?" William's tone was getting impatient.

Seeing his annoyed face, Angel bit her lip and handed him the thermos she was holding. "William, you couldn't come last night to try my cooking, but that's cool. Here's the breakfast I made for you. Eat it while it's still warm."

Before William could say anything, Margaret butted in, "No need. We already had breakfast. William cooked it himself, and he's pretty good at it. Wanna try some?"

Angel's face fell. She had cooked for William herself, but he didn't give a damn. And William, the big-shot CEO, personally cooked breakfast for Margaret!

Ignoring Angel, Margaret turned to William and said, "William, it's about time. We should head to the office. I need to prep for the North Bay project meeting."

William checked the time and nodded, "Okay."

"William, what meeting for the North Bay project?" Angel asked, sticking close to him.

"Nothing, just a pre-bid meeting," William squinted.

Angel's face changed, and she clung to his arm. "Since it's a meeting for the North Bay project, I'll go with you. I can learn something too."

Unable to shake her off, William frowned. "Fine."

"William, you're the best," Angel said with a smile, throwing a smug look at Margaret.

Margaret felt a bit uneasy seeing that.

The three of them walked to the garage. William opened the car door, and just as Margaret was about to sit in the front, Angel pulled her away. "Ms. Scott, I'll sit here. I get car sick in the back."

"That's funny. I get car sick in the back too," Margaret said, rubbing her temples and looking at Angel calmly.

She cleared her throat and added, "By the way, I'm the main speaker for the Fisher Group at the meeting, right? If I get car sick and feel crappy, I might not be able to present anything. Will you present the plan for me then?"

"You!" Angel was speechless.

Right then, William's icy voice cut through the tension, leaving no room for debate. "Marjorie, sit in the back."

"Alright, business first," Angel said, taking a deep breath and swallowing her anger, pretending to be all obedient.

Grudgingly, Angel slid into the back seat. As William was about to start the car, Margaret turned her head and gave him a look. "William, why aren't you helping me with my seatbelt today?"

William raised an eyebrow, caught off guard. Ever since Margaret had called off their engagement in front of everyone, she'd been keeping her distance. Now, she wanted him to help with her seatbelt? Was she jealous because Angel brought him breakfast?

Thinking about it, William chuckled and leaned over, his hand brushing across Margaret's chest to fasten her seatbelt.

Margaret leaned in closer and whispered in his ear, "Thanks."

If it was about PDA, she could do that too.

Before, she couldn't stand it. But now, to rile up Angel and make her show her true colors, Margaret decided to play along.

"William, didn't you say we need to get to the office quickly to prep the materials? Let's go!" Angel finally snapped.

Thinking about the cozy moment between William and Margaret just now, Angel was fuming. That should've been her spot, she should've been next to William, but now Margaret had taken it!

Angel clenched her fists, her eyes burning with jealousy and hatred as she glared at Margaret. She silently vowed to get Margaret out of the picture!

Twenty minutes later, they pulled up at the Fisher Group. Margaret hopped out of the car. "I'll go prep the materials."

"Okay," William said, giving her a long look. "I'll call you when it's time."

Angel quickly chimed in, "William, don't forget to call me too!"

William nodded, barely acknowledging her.

Upstairs, Margaret double-checked the presentation materials to make sure everything was spot on, then let out a long breath. Just as she finished packing the documents into a folder, William showed up. "Margaret, ready?"

"Yeah," Margaret replied, looking up. "Let's roll."

"Let's go!" William said with a slight smile, heading for the door.

Angel hurried after them. "William, wait up!"

When they got to the conference room, a bunch of company reps were already there. Seeing William walk in, everyone stood up and greeted him, "Mr. Fisher."

William nodded coolly. Margaret followed him and took a seat near the door.

Looking around, Margaret didn't see Jack. She checked the time; only ten minutes left before the meeting started, and the reps from BPL Company hadn't shown up yet. Were they gonna bail?
