Chapter 61 Are You Following Me?
"I ain't letting this happen again," Lyle said, his voice colder than a freezer, glaring at the woman in front of him. "Now, get out. Like, now."
"But..."
Grace had a ton of things she wanted to spill to Lyle, but under his frosty stare, she couldn't get a single word out.
"Miss, you gotta leave!" The waiter, seeing Lyle's icy demeanor, rushed over and practically dragged Grace out.
When Lucy showed up, Grace was just standing there on the street, looking totally lost.
"Where's Margaret?" Lucy asked, all eager, the moment she spotted Grace.
Grace snapped back to reality and pointed at the Blue Note Cafe. "In there."
"Let's go check it out." Lucy grabbed Grace and hustled towards the cafe.
But by the time they got inside, Margaret and Lyle were already gone.
"Where'd they go?" Lucy scanned the place but didn't see Margaret, her face turning dark.
"They were just here," Grace said, frowning. She'd only been gone a minute. How could they both vanish like that?
"Where are they now? Weren't you supposed to keep an eye on them?" Lucy snapped, clearly pissed.
She had this whole plan to catch Margaret and Lyle red-handed with her friends and then call William to show him what Margaret was up to behind his back.
"I tried, but Lyle kicked me out," Grace said, feeling down. Thinking about Lyle's cold attitude earlier made her heart ache.
Lucy was fuming. "Who told you to tip Lyle off? Do you even know how to handle stuff? Where are the photos I told you to take?"
"Lyle deleted them," Grace mumbled, looking down, too scared to meet Lucy's eyes.
"What?" Lucy's face turned even angrier. "Can't you do anything right? You can't even handle a simple task? Looks like your family doesn't want to keep working with us. I'll call Michael right now and have him cancel everything!"
"Lucy, please don't." Grace panicked, seeing Lucy about to mess with the Thomas family.
The Thomas family had been struggling for years. Grace had been trying to keep Lucy happy to secure the Clark family's support.
Seeing Lucy's rage, Grace quickly said, "Didn't I send you a photo earlier? We can send it to William anonymously. Once he sees Margaret cheating on him, he won't let her off easy."
"That blurry photo proves nothing," Lucy snapped, glaring at Grace. "You blew such a good chance today!"
"No, you can still see it clearly," Grace said, desperate. "I saw it with my own eyes; Margaret can't deny it. Once William sees it, he'll be furious, and Margaret will be in deep trouble!"
Lucy sneered. "Then what are you waiting for? Send it to William right now!"
When William woke up in the morning, Margaret was already gone from the Water Moon Estate.
He asked Isolde, "Where's Margaret?"
Isolde replied respectfully, "She left early this morning."
William pressed further. "Where'd she go?"
Isolde shook her head. "She didn't say, just mentioned she had something to do."
Did Margaret go to work overtime?
William's expression darkened. Margaret wasn't feeling well and still insisted on working overtime, not knowing how to take care of herself.
He sped to the office but didn't see a trace of Margaret.
William had someone check the attendance logs and found out Margaret hadn't shown up at all today.
Where the heck did she go?
Feeling ticked off, William called Margaret, but her phone was off.
"Sir, the afternoon meeting's about to start," Peter reminded him.
"Yeah, I know," William said, barely paying attention as he walked into the meeting room. Today's agenda was the monthly reports from each department.
Each department head droned on about their progress to William.
William sat at the head of the table, his face like a storm cloud. The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife.
Suddenly, William's phone buzzed with an anonymous text. He opened it casually and saw a photo.
The pic was blurry, but he instantly recognized the woman as Margaret.
It was taken today.
William's face darkened. He squinted and looked closer.
Yep, it was definitely Margaret.
And the guy with her looked familiar too—seemed like Lyle.
Margaret and Lyle together?
Didn't she just say yesterday she had nothing to do with either Samuel or Lyle?
So why'd she rush out early this morning to meet Lyle?
And they looked pretty cozy.
Feeling agitated, William yanked at his tie and stormed out of the room full of execs. He called Margaret again, but her phone was still off. Frustrated, he was about to have someone track down where the photo was taken when a familiar, petite figure walked up.
Margaret?
William quickly approached, his face tense. "Margaret, come with me."
Margaret had just arrived at the office to work overtime and hadn't even reached the design department when she ran into William.
A wave of tension hit her, and Margaret sensed that William was in a really bad mood.
She silently followed William to the CEO's office.
"Why didn't you answer my calls?" William's handsome face was tight as he looked down at Margaret.
Margaret pulled out her phone and checked it. "Sorry, my phone died."
"Where did you go?" William's face grew even darker.
He clearly didn't buy that her phone just happened to die. He suspected she had turned it off on purpose to meet Lyle.
"I had something to do," Margaret replied calmly.
"Where did you go?" William pressed.
"To see a friend," Margaret said, frowning slightly, wondering why William was acting so crazy.
William's cold eyes bore into Margaret's. "What friend? Guy or girl?"
"Why do you need to know so much?" Margaret pursed her lips and said seriously, "If I remember right, today is the weekend. During my free time, I can see whoever I want. Even if you're the boss, you have no right to interfere."
"Look at this yourself!" William said, his voice icy, as he shoved his phone in front of Margaret.
Margaret looked at his phone suspiciously.
On the screen was a photo of her.
Margaret gasped. "William, are you stalking me?"
