Chapter 346 Someone is Fanning the Flames

At the Clark Mansion, Lucy lay helplessly on the couch, watching the overwhelming news online about her fooling around with a male escort in the lounge that night.

Michael couldn't suppress it no matter what he did.

"Look at the mess you've made! You've completely disgraced the Clark Family!" Michael was exasperated and deeply disappointed in Lucy.

"Michael, I didn't want this to happen either!" Lucy looked aggrieved. "Everything was planned perfectly, but who knew William would..."

Before Lucy could finish, Michael interrupted her, "How dare you even speak? You, as a dignified heiress of the Clark Family, using such despicable means? If Grandpa knew, it would kill him with anger."

"What else could I do?" Lucy's eyes reddened. "I really love William. Michael, you've never been in love, so you don't understand how I feel."

Michael remained silent.

"It's all that bitch Margaret's fault!" Lucy's anger flared up at the thought of William, drugged that night, calling out Margaret's name repeatedly.

She thought, 'If it weren't for Margaret shamelessly seducing William, he would have been mine long ago!'

"Lucy, why does it have to be William?" Michael sat beside Lucy, trying to persuade her earnestly, "There are many good men in this world."

"But I only love William!" Lucy interrupted Michael, grabbing his arm. "Michael, can you help me, please?"

"I can't help you," Michael sighed.

He could give Lucy anything, except when it came to matters of the feeling.

"Lucy, you should rest," Michael sighed again, feeling helpless.

He felt that this matter wasn't so simple.

At that time, Lucy and the male escort were caught red-handed by reporters in the lounge.

But he had warned those reporters, and with the power of the Clark Family, no reporter should have dared to write anything.

However, the internet was flooded with Lucy's scandal, even trending.

If it weren't for the sudden earthquake in Maplewood, the buzz would have lasted even longer.

Someone must be fanning the flames behind the scenes.

Michael suspected William was the person behind the scenes, thinking William so angry about Lucy drugging and setting him up that he wanted to ruin her reputation.

For the sake of the Clark Family's honor and Lucy, Michael decided to talk to William.

Michael went straight to the Fisher Group.

The receptionist recognized Michael and let him in directly.

Michael headed straight to the CEO's office on the top floor.

He knocked on the door.

"Come in!" William's clear voice came through.

Michael pushed the door open and saw William staring at his computer screen, arranging disaster relief efforts for Maplewood.

Since Margaret wouldn't let him go, he had to find another way.

Hearing the sound, William looked up and was surprised to see who it was. "It's you?"

"Mr. Fisher, do you have time to talk?" Michael walked straight up to William.

"What is it?" William slightly furrowed his brows.

Michael got straight to the point. "Regarding Lucy's actions, I apologize on her behalf."

"I don't want to talk about this anymore. You should discipline her well; I don't want there to be a next time!" William said coldly.

Lucy had already paid the price for her actions.

"I'm sorry for her behaviour. It's my fault for spoiling her, but Mr. Fisher, you almost ruined Lucy's reputation, and now there are so many rumors about her online, which greatly affect her."

William frowned. "Do you think I arranged for those rumors online?"

"It wasn't you?" Michael was taken aback.

William smiled coldly. "No."

He had only asked Peter to find a male escort for Lucy; he hadn't interfered with what happened afterward.

"Then who could it be?" Michael furrowed his brows.

He knew William's character; he meant what he said.

In that case, someone else must be behind this.

For a moment, Michael couldn't figure it out.

"I've said all I need to say. I have a meeting to attend. Do you have anything else?" William's expression was indifferent as he issued a polite dismissal.

Michael's expression was serious. "Then I'll take my leave."

Back at the Clark Mansion, Michael had just reached the study when Lucy followed him in. "Michael, did you go to see William? Why didn't you take me? What did he say?"

"Lucy, have you offended anyone?" Michael asked thoughtfully.

Lucy was very puzzled. "What?"

"William said he didn't have anyone expose what happened that night," Michael said solemnly.

Lucy's heart leaped with joy. "Does that mean he still cares about me and has some feelings for me?"

Michael was speechless.

"Lucy, wake up! If he had any feelings for you, he wouldn't have arranged for that male escort." Michael suddenly stood up. "What you need to consider now is whether you've offended anyone who would expose what happened that night online!"

"No!" Lucy shook her head. "Who could I have offended? At most, someone might be jealous of me."

"Alright, I'll have someone look into this." Michael waved his hand. "Lucy, go back to your room and rest."

"I don't want to rest. I want to see William." Lucy grabbed Michael's arm. "Michael, take me to see him!"

"Are you still so stubborn?" Michael pulled his arm away in frustration and said coldly, "Get out!"

Lucy stormed out of the study. If Michael wouldn't take her to see William, she would go herself.

Lucy called Grace, and the two of them went to the entrance of the Fisher Group.

"Lucy, things are really heated right now. Shouldn't you wait until this blows over before you see Mr. Fisher?" Grace asked cautiously.

Lucy glared at Grace. "How dare you speak? If you hadn't called the reporters, I wouldn't be so humiliated right now!"

"I'm sorry, Lucy. I didn't know Mr. Fisher would leave suddenly and bring another man over." Grace kept apologizing.

"Wait here!" Lucy said impatiently.

She walked straight into the Fisher Group but was stopped by the receptionist.

"I'm here to see William." Lucy puffed out her chest.

The receptionist smiled politely. "I'm sorry, Ms. Clark, but Mr. Fisher just left."

"Where did he go?" Lucy asked.

The receptionist replied, "I think he went to the hospital."

Lucy couldn't help but thought, 'The hospital? Could he be visiting Angel?'
