Chapter 204 Mia's Involvement
Margaret turned her head towards the voice and saw Mia, who had been hanging around nearby, suddenly chime in. Margaret was caught off guard.
"That's Mia Davis, the international pianist!" A reporter recognized her and got all hyped up.
"Ms. Davis, were you saying you can prove that Margaret messed up Grace's dress?" A reporter shoved a mic in Mia's face.
Mia grinned and nodded. "Yep."
"Can you spill the details on what went down?" The reporters crowded in, hungry for more.
"I was here buying a scarf and saw Lucy and Margaret going at it. Then Margaret shoved Grace and ripped her dress on purpose," Mia said with a smooth smile.
Margaret shot a suspicious look at Mia. She didn't know Mia at all, so why was Mia lying? Was she in on some scheme with Lucy to frame her?
Just then, William strolled into the boutique, with Angel trailing right behind him.
"Mr. Fisher, Mr. Fisher is here!"
As soon as William showed up, he grabbed everyone's attention like a magnet. Reporters swarmed him. "Mr. Fisher, is it true you and Margaret broke up? Why's she still at the Fisher Group? Rumor has it she's shacking up with Lyle. Any truth to that?"
"Mr. Fisher, what's your take on today's drama? Did Margaret trash Grace's dress on purpose? Is there some beef between them?"
William's handsome face was stone-cold, his lips pressed into a tight line. Angel stepped up, flashing a smile at the reporters. "Sorry, William's not doing interviews. We were just out shopping and happened to pass by, so we popped in."
"Mr. Fisher, is this lady the Marjorie you've been looking for? Are you two an item now? Is she your girlfriend?"
"Get lost." William's icy stare swept over the reporters, shutting them up instantly.
Seeing William show up out of nowhere, Lucy's eyes were glued to him. Seeing Angel next to William, Lucy couldn't help but think with jealousy, 'Is that girl Marjorie? Not much to look at! Today, I'll deal with Margaret first, making her look like a fool in front of William, but that Marjorie better watch out! William's mine!'
Thinking this, Lucy gave Grace a knowing look.
"Margaret, got anything to say now?" Grace's voice was dripping with barely hidden glee, cranking up a few notches. "Even Mia says you wrecked my dress!"
Even Grace hadn't expected a witness to pop up out of nowhere, and that witness was the famous pianist Mia, though Grace had no clue why Mia was suddenly backing her against Margaret.
"Nothing to say." Margaret stayed cool.
Seeing William and Angel walk in had hit Margaret like a punch to the gut. Now, she was surrounded and getting blamed by a bunch of people. And William brought Angel along just to watch her get humiliated.
But she wasn't about to back down. Lucy and her crew wanted to crush her, but she'd make sure they paid double for it!
With that thought, Margaret zeroed in on Mia, her eyes sharp. Margaret was sure she had never crossed paths with Mia. So, was Mia in on this with Lucy? Trying to set her up?
"Mia, did you really see me mess up Grace's dress with your own eyes?" Margaret asked, her face calm but her eyes piercing.
"Absolutely." Mia's eyes narrowed, a clear hostility in her gaze.
"That's funny. If I remember right, you were standing in the corner earlier. And Grace stopped me at the entrance. From where you were, there's no way you could've seen what went down at the entrance." Margaret smirked.
"Whatever, I saw it." Mia's face twitched a bit, but she stuck to her story.
"Margaret, aren't you gonna kneel and apologize to Grace?" Lucy was practically salivating at the thought of Margaret begging.
"I didn't do it, so why should I apologize?" Margaret's smile was cool and collected.
"How dare you argue! There are witnesses and evidence. Even Mia saw you ruin my dress. Even if you don't admit it, the facts are clear. Kneel and apologize now!" Grace stepped up, her tone bossy.
"Shouldn't you be the one kneeling and apologizing?" Margaret's gaze swept the room, her face growing colder. "Actually, you ruined your own dress to frame me, didn't you?"
"Don't slander me!" Grace snapped. "The situation is clear now. Stop stalling!"
Margaret chuckled. "Grace, you think you can twist the truth by ruining your own dress and getting a few people to frame me?"
"What do you mean?" Grace's brow furrowed.
Margaret looked up at the camera and said calmly, "I mean, no matter how you twist the facts, there's only one truth. I bet the camera caught everything."
Grace was taken aback. "Didn't we already check the footage? It didn't show anything."
"Did it really show nothing? I doubt it." Margaret's cold gaze landed on the security chief.
"It really didn't," The security chief, Grace's distant cousin Elijah Thomas, answered, trying to stay calm. He had secretly deleted that part of the footage after getting Grace's message.
"Can we see the footage from that time?" Margaret asked coldly.
"There's no need for that!" Lucy snapped at Margaret. "Margaret, what game are you playing now?"
"I'm not playing games," Margaret said calmly, "I just want the truth to come out."
"Get the footage!" William, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke in a deep voice.
