Chapter 241 I'll Wait for Your Answer
"Lyle." Margaret brushed off the icy vibe from the dude next to her and casually picked up the phone.
Lyle's voice came through clear. "Margaret, you chillin'? Am I bugging you?"
"Nah. What's up?" Margaret replied, sounding kinda bored.
"So, about 'Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses,' I got a few roles that might fit you. Got any faves? When can we chat about it?" Lyle asked.
Margaret thought for a sec. "How 'bout tomorrow night?"
"Cool, see you tomorrow night." Lyle's voice perked up when she agreed.
Margaret nodded. "Yeah, see you then."
William's handsome face grew even colder upon hearing this. His lips barely moving as he asked coldly, "You're meeting Lyle tomorrow night?"
"Yup." Margaret confirmed.
William's brows knitted together, and he said, all bossy-like, "You're not going."
"What? You gonna lock me up?" Margaret shot him a teasing look. "You starting to act up already?"
William stayed quiet. This wasn't about acting up. He just couldn't stand the thought of Margaret hanging out with Lyle.
Even if Margaret didn't care about Lyle, he knew Lyle was totally into her. After all, Lyle had been chasing her for two years and just popped the question last night.
"Lyle wants to talk about roles for 'Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses.' It's business," Margaret explained, seeing William's serious face.
"You're really gonna take a role?" William frowned, his lips pressed tight, clearly not happy.
"Yeah, I gotta keep my word." Margaret nodded firmly. She'd already announced at last night's award show that she'd be in the new show for promo, so no backing out now.
William's handsome face turned icy, and he went quiet.
They stayed silent as William drove Margaret to East Garden.
Margaret hopped out of the car and smiled at William. "Thanks for the ride."
She was about to head upstairs when she noticed William trailing her.
"You're not leaving?" Margaret paused and asked, turning around.
William grabbed her arm and said in a deep voice, "Margaret, move back to Water Moon Estate."
"Why?" Margaret frowned.
"You're my fiancée. How's it look for you to be living in another guy's place?" William said coldly.
" I never agreed to be your fiancée." Margaret rolled her eyes at him, clearly annoyed.
She pushed William back towards the car. "You should go home!"
Margaret turned to leave, but William grabbed her again.
"What now?" Margaret was getting exasperated.
William pulled her into his arms and whispered in her ear, "Margaret, I'm waiting for your answer. Don't keep me waiting too long."
William's warm breath on Margaret's neck felt like a feather tickling her, making her squirm.
"Didn't I say it depends on your behavior?" Margaret took a deep breath, shoved William away, and said calmly.
Watching her walk away, William's eyes flickered before turning super determined. He was gonna make sure Margaret gave him a straight answer. And he was sure he wouldn't have to wait long.
Back home, Margaret felt wiped out. She had planned to work on the "Ice and Fire" jewelry design but decided to put it off.
Lying lazily on her bed, she couldn't stop thinking about William's romantic proposal tonight, the image stuck in her head.
Tossing and turning, she didn't know how long it took before she finally drifted off. In her dream, she saw William.
She dreamt that William kissed her passionately, and instead of pushing him away, she enjoyed it. They were all over each other on a big bed.
Margaret woke up with a start, turned on the light, and looked around, realizing it was just a dream.
'Damn it! How could I have such a dream? It's all William's fault for being so tempting.' Margaret took a few deep breaths to shake off the weird feelings.
At the Clark Mansion, in the study, Lucy was bugging Michael. "Michael, when are you gonna keep your promise and get me a job at the Fisher Group?"
Michael rubbed his temples, looking frustrated. "Lucy, these things take time."
"I've waited forever!" Lucy clung to Michael's arm, pouting. "I know you care about me the most. I just wanna work at the Fisher Group."
Michael sighed, "Lucy, there are so many good guys out there. Why are you so hung up on William?"
"I don't care; I just like him!" Lucy was stubborn.
Michael responded half-heartedly, "Alright, I'll think of it."
"Michael, you have to help me!" Lucy insisted. She couldn't wait to get to the Fisher Group and see William every day.
After leaving the study, Lucy had just gotten back to her room when she got a call from Grace.
"What do you want this late?" Lucy checked the time; it was already eleven at night.
Grace hesitated. "Lucy, there's something I don't know if I should tell you."
Seeing Grace's reluctance, Lucy snapped, "Just spit it out."
Grace quickly said, "Tonight, my cousin and her kid went to the beach and saw William and Margaret."
"They were together this late?" Lucy's face turned cold, her tone dripping with jealousy.
"Yeah, and..."
"And what?" Lucy urged impatiently.
Grace cautiously said, "And William proposed to Margaret."
Hearing this, Lucy's eyes flashed with uncontrollable jealousy.
"Lucy, don't worry. It seems the proposal didn't go through," Seeing Lucy's silence, Grace quickly added.
"Didn't go through? It must be Margaret playing her games to seduce men," Lucy said hatefully, "Margaret, I won't let her get away with this!"
