Chapter 253 A Beauty Emerging from the Bath
"No way, it's too risky." William shot back, his voice icy and bossy. "Before we figure out who's behind this, you have to stay put at home!"
"Seriously?" Margaret pouted. "Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses is about to start filming. I can't hold up the new show because of this."
She had a gut feeling that whoever was after her would strike soon, probably during the shoot. The fact that they chose the opening ceremony to act showed they knew her schedule inside out.
Margaret didn't want to hide. She wanted to catch them in the act.
"Can't someone else fill in for you?" William's brows knitted together. He was torn between worrying about Margaret's safety and not wanting her to spend any alone time with Lyle.
Margaret shook her head. "I don't want to break my promise."
Seeing her stubbornness, William's face darkened. He thought, ' Is she so set on filming just to keep the show on track, or is it because of Lyle?'
Margaret's role, though not the lead, had a lot of close scenes with Lyle. Just thinking about it made William uneasy.
Lyle's feelings for Margaret were way too obvious. Even though Margaret swore she wasn't into Lyle, William couldn't shake his doubts.
"Alright, it's getting late. You should head to work." Margaret stood up, nudging William to go to the office.
"I'll stay home with you." William stayed put, not wanting to leave her alone. He just wanted to be with her, every single moment.
"I'm fine now. The ointment I used earlier helped a lot." Margaret pretended to be annoyed. "If you don't leave, I'll have to kick you out."
"Alright, I'm going," William nodded, reminding her, "Make sure to rest well at home."
"Got it," Margaret said as she pushed him out the door.
Not long after William left, there was a knock on Margaret's door.
Margaret glanced at the door. 'Did William forget something and come back?'
Just as she was about to open the door, she heard Isolde's voice. "Ms. Scott."
Margaret got up and opened the door.
Isolde was holding a tray loaded with breakfast goodies.
"What's this?" Margaret asked, puzzled by the fancy spread.
Isolde smiled and set the tray down. "Mr. Fisher asked me to prepare this breakfast for you. He said you need to eat light because of your allergy and specifically asked me to make it. See if it suits your taste, Ms. Scott."
Margaret felt a warmth in her heart. "Thank you, I really like it."
"Mr. Fisher also said you need to rest more because you're not feeling well. I won't disturb you. Call me if you need anything," Isolde said with a smile.
Isolde had never seen William so nervous and caring about anyone before. Margaret was the first and only one.
When Margaret moved out before, William had a stern face every day, and the atmosphere at home was tense. Now that she had moved back, he smiled as usual.
Isolde had watched William grow up and genuinely hoped he could be happy with the girl he liked forever.
"Thanks, Isolde," Margaret said gratefully.
After Isolde left, Margaret munched on her breakfast while scrolling through her phone.
Yesterday's opening ceremony had already hit the news. Photos of Margaret's allergic reaction were plastered online.
The comments were brutal,
[Oh my God, how did Starlight Entertainment's CEO turn into such an ugly duckling?]
[So embarrassing!]
[With her looking like that, she still wants to act with Lyle? Dream on!]
The internet was full of nasty remarks, dragging Margaret through the mud.
Margaret just smirked. She'd show them.
By the afternoon, most of her allergic reactions had cleared up. That ointment was doing wonders. A few more applications and she'd be good as new.
Margaret headed to the bathroom for a shower, washing off the old ointment before slathering on the new stuff for better results.
Lazily soaking in the bubble bath, Margaret felt super relaxed. But she still had no clue who was trying to mess with her.
Margaret narrowed her eyes. Whoever it was, they wouldn't get away with it.
After her bath, Margaret realized she forgot to bring in her change of clothes. She had no choice but to wrap herself in a towel and change outside.
Margaret carefully wrapped the towel around herself, opened the bathroom door, and walked into the room. As soon as she stepped in, she was startled to see William sitting on the couch.
Margaret let out an instinctive scream, thinking, 'Isn't William supposed to be at work? How does he suddenly appear in my room?'
Margaret clutched the towel tightly, looking warily at him. "William, aren't you at the office? When did you get here?"
William had been worried about Margaret all day, so he left work early. When he got home, Margaret was in the bathroom, so he sat on the couch in her room to wait for her. When he looked up, he saw such an enticing scene.
Margaret stood before him, her hair wet and dripping, wrapped only in a white towel. Her skin was smooth and glowing, and although there were still some faint red allergy marks on her chest, they only made her look more alluring.
William felt a rush of blood and stood up abruptly, staring intently at Margaret.
Feeling William's burning gaze, Margaret became flustered. This was too embarrassing.
"William, get out," Margaret blushed as she took a deep breath and shouted.
But instead of leaving, William reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"Margaret, you're so beautiful," William said in a low, husky voice, his sexy Adam's apple bobbing as he spoke near her ear.
"Let go of me!" Margaret struggled, not daring to use too much force for fear the towel would fall.
William ignored her, lowering his head to kiss her enchanting red lips.
