Chapter 113 Caught a Cold Because of You

What went down last night?

Margaret shot William a wary look, rubbed her temples, and slowly started piecing things together.

She remembered planning to hit up a bar with Juniper but ended up running into that jerk Percival and somehow got drugged. Then, outta nowhere, William showed up and whisked her away. She remembered feeling like she was on fire before blacking out.

Flashes of something intimate with William popped into her head, making her check herself nervously. Phew, everything seemed normal.

Still uneasy, Margaret blurted out, "You didn't do anything to me last night, did you?"

William raised an eyebrow at her nervousness. "Why, you wish I had?"

"Of course not!" Margaret snapped back, glaring at him.

Feeling a bit relieved, she was kinda grateful. Thank God it was William who found her last night, and thank God he was a decent guy. Otherwise, things could've gone south real quick.

Just then, William started coughing.

"What's up? You sick or something?" Margaret asked, puzzled.

William cleared his throat. "Caught a cold."

"A cold?" Margaret's voice had a hint of concern. "How'd you catch a cold all of a sudden?"

As far as she knew, William was always in top shape. He was fine yesterday, so what happened?

William gave her a deep look and said, "It's all because of you."

If she hadn't been drugged and clung to him, he wouldn't have had to take a cold shower and catch a cold.

"Because of me?" Margaret was baffled. No matter how smart she was, she couldn't connect the dots between her and William's cold.

While munching on breakfast, Margaret scrolled through the news on her phone and a headline caught her eye. "Special Report: Last night, the police conducted an overnight operation and arrested a gang of public safety threats."

There were pics attached, and the faces were the same guys who harassed her at the bar last night, led by Percival.

Margaret put down her phone and looked at William, who was eating breakfast all cool and collected. "Percival got arrested. Was that you?"

"Who else?" William paused with his fork and smirked.

"Nice job! Scum like him should've been locked up ages ago to stop them from hurting more women." Margaret nodded approvingly.

William squinted and said in a low voice, "Anyone else might get away with it, but anyone who messes with my girl is in for trouble."

Margaret smirked. She was her own person and didn't belong to anyone.

After breakfast, they headed to the Fisher Group. On the way, Margaret noticed William coughing a few times. Even though she didn't get why William said he caught a cold because of her, she still swung by the pharmacy during her break and grabbed some cold medicine. After all, he did save her last night.

Peter knocked on the CEO's office door.

"Come in!" William's clear voice rang out.

Peter pushed the door open, walked up to William, and respectfully reported, "Boss, we found out who transferred the money to Thaddeus."

"Who was it?" William put down the document in his hand and looked up.

Peter handed over the info he had. "The money came from an abandoned account. We traced it back to a shell company called 'SparkleCraft,' but it's already been dissolved."

"What about the legal rep?" William asked, his voice low.

Peter looked a bit helpless. "It's some foreign farmer who doesn't know squat."

"Keep digging," William said coldly.

This whole thing was getting messier by the minute. Who the heck was behind Thaddeus? Was Thaddeus's death really just a freak accident?

Just then, Margaret walked over with the cold medicine. Seeing the CEO's office door slightly ajar, she knocked.

"Come in." William's usually icy voice softened a bit when he saw her.

Seeing Margaret, Peter tactfully said, "I'll take my leave."

William nodded lightly. Peter turned and left, thoughtfully closing the door behind him.

"Margaret, ever heard of 'SparkleCraft'?" William asked.

"'SparkleCraft'? What's that? A person? A place?" Margaret was puzzled. She racked her brain but came up empty.

William filled her in on what Peter had found. "I'll have him keep investigating."

Margaret nodded. This whole thing was definitely fishy. Who was pulling the strings, and what was their endgame?

"So, what did you want to see me about?" William's deep voice snapped Margaret back to reality. She handed him the cold medicine. "This stuff works. You should try it."

"Really?" William's long fingers took the bottle.

When his fingers brushed against Margaret's warm palm, his breath hitched, recalling her alluring look in the car last night. Closing his eyes, William said in a low voice, "The medicine's too bitter. I won't take it unless..."

"Unless what?" Margaret found it a bit ridiculous. Who refused to take medicine when they were sick?

William looked at her with a half-smile. "Unless you feed it to me."

"William, don't push your luck!" Margaret glared at him. It was already nice of her to buy him medicine, and now he wanted her to feed it to him? No way!

William pretended to be hurt. "Is this how you treat your savior? If it weren't for me last night, Percival would've taken you away."

Margaret looked serious. This usually cold and aloof guy was now acting all pitiful in front of her?

Alright. William did save her last night.

Margaret took a pill and put it in William's mouth. "Just this once!"

William's lips pressed together, gently biting Margaret's finger.

The move was very suggestive. Margaret blushed, gasped, and quickly pulled her finger back, annoyed. "William, are you a dog? Why are you biting?"

But William's eyes were locked on her, his voice hoarse. "Margaret, there's still two months left."

Margaret was stunned. "Two months for what?"

"If I can make you fall in love with me within two months, will you stay?" William's deep eyes were filled with complex emotions.
