Chapter 57 Don't Have Any Inappropriate Thoughts About Lyle

"My clothes." Margaret hesitated, feeling too embarrassed to ask who helped her change.

William's face showed a hint of awkwardness as he cleared his throat. "Isolde helped you."

"Thank her for me," Margaret sighed in relief. Isolde was the part-time maid William had hired.

William's usually cold and handsome features softened under the orange light. "I had the doc check on you. You got a bit of low blood sugar."

"Alright." Margaret felt embarrassed. Fainting because of her period—when did she become so fragile?

It was all William's fault! He had her running around last night, kept her up late, and wore her out. Today, he made her handle meeting minutes and revise plans, leaving no time for dinner, which led to her low blood sugar.

"Just chill for a bit, and you'll be fine," William said, glancing at his watch. "It's late. Get some rest, and don't go to the office tomorrow."

"Thanks," Margaret said, rubbing her stomach, which felt less painful now.

Margaret slept deeply that night, and when she woke up the next day, it was already nine o'clock.

Forgetting she didn't need to head to work today, she thought, 'Oh no, I'm gonna be late.'

Margaret hurriedly got up, got ready, and walked out of her room, only to see a middle-aged woman busy in the kitchen.

Seeing Margaret, the woman put down what she was doing and walked to the living room, greeting her respectfully. "Miss Scott."

"Are you Isolde?" Margaret asked after thinking for a moment.

Isolde smiled and nodded. "Breakfast is ready."

Margaret looked at the time and apologized. "Thanks. But I'm about to be late for work, so I can't eat."

Isolde politely stopped her. "Mr. Fisher insisted that you must have breakfast."

"Alright." Margaret was a bit surprised. Since when did William care about people?

Margaret sat down, and Isolde brought her breakfast and a bowl of hot soup.

"He specifically asked me to make this. It helps alleviate discomfort during a woman's period," Isolde said with a smile, pointing to the hot soup.

William specifically asked for this? Did he know about such things?

Margaret took the hot soup and drank it all, feeling a warmth in her heart.

After breakfast, Margaret hurried to the office. Although William had told her to rest at home, she was concerned about her work.

As soon as she arrived at the office, she heard two assistants next to her seat gossiping.

"Wow, Lyle is so handsome!"

"Don't even think about it. Didn't you see his interview where he said he has loved a girl for two years? You have no chance."

Lyle?

Margaret's heart seemed to skip a beat.

"Margaret, did you see the trending news? Lyle is back in the country and gave an exclusive interview," said Mabel Winslow, who sat next to Margaret, looking excited. "He rarely gives interviews."

"Really?" Margaret asked absentmindedly. "Which Lyle?"

"Lyle Pennington! You don't know Lyle? He's the hottest male star right now, super handsome." Mabel glanced at Margaret. "Almost as handsome as our boss."

So it was the Lyle she knew.

Margaret opened the trending topic on Twitter, and the top spot was Lyle.

It was an interview. Lyle was decked out in a white suit, rocking gold-rimmed glasses, giving off this melancholic and elegant vibe.

The first part of the interview was all about his new film abroad, but then the reporter got personal. "Lyle, a lot of people, including myself, are dying to know about your love life. Got a girlfriend? Spill the tea."

Lyle gave a faint smile. "No girlfriend."

The reporter grinned. "That's music to many female fans' ears."

Lyle's voice dropped to a low, husky tone. "But there's a girl I deeply love, and I'll always wait for her."

Margaret irritably closed the video.

She needed to find time to talk to Lyle. As a public figure, it was really inappropriate for him to say such things in public.

While Margaret was lost in thought, the surroundings suddenly became quiet.

"Margaret, bring the 'Ice and Fire' project plan to my office."

A cold voice snapped her out of it, and she looked up to see William had walked over without her noticing.

"Okay." Margaret grabbed the project plan and followed William to his office.

William casually closed the door and sat on a nearby sofa. "You're not feeling well. Why'd you come to the office?"

Thinking about last night, Margaret felt a bit awkward. She was usually in good health, and fainting last night was just a fluke.

She smiled and said, "I'm much better now. The 'Ice and Fire' project is at a critical stage. I don't want my personal issues to hold it up."

"Alright," William said indifferently, pointing to the seat next to him, signaling for Margaret to sit down.

Margaret sat next to William, keeping a bit of distance, and handed him the project plan. "I optimized the plan last night."

She hadn't finished speaking when William's low voice cut her off. "Did you see today's news?"

News?

Had William seen her watching Lyle's interview video earlier?

"Sorry, I shouldn't have been watching that during work hours." Margaret apologized.

William frowned. "Then you should've seen that Lyle already has a girl he likes."

"So what?" Margaret shot back.

William looked deeply at Margaret, his tone cold. "So, don't get any funny ideas about him. Remember your current status."

Funny ideas?

What did William mean?

She had funny ideas about Lyle? It was obviously Lyle who had them about her.

But there was no need to tell William that.

Margaret thought for a few seconds, pursed her lips, and said seriously, "William, please don't jump to conclusions about me. I don't have feelings for Samuel or Lyle."

"That's for the best." William felt a small sense of joy hearing Margaret's words.

He slowly moved closer to Margaret, his eyes filled with an unclear emotion. "Margaret, remember, you are my fiancée."

As William's handsome face got closer and closer, Margaret's heart inexplicably started to race.

Fiancée? It was all fake.

Margaret wanted to refute, but the words that came out were just a soft response.

William's handsome face continued to get closer, his lips about to touch hers.
