Chapter 187 Love Quadrangle
That punch came outta nowhere, and nobody had a chance to react, not even William.
Margaret only used like a third of her strength, but still, Angel winced in pain and let out a yelp, "Ah!"
"Well, she's awake now, ain't she?" Margaret dusted off her hands and stood up.
Angel's face was all serious as she glared at Margaret. "Margaret, why the hell did you hit me?"
Margaret looked down at Angel with a smirk. "Angel, weren't you out cold? How do you even know I hit you?"
Anyone with half a brain knew that if you were really unconscious, you wouldn't feel a thing. And the fact that Angel was making such a big deal out of it just proved she wasn't really out of it.
Seeing William's skeptical look, Angel quickly put on a pitiful face, "William, was I unconscious just now? I blacked out and didn't know anything. Then I woke up to Ms. Scott hitting me, and it hurt so bad! Why would Ms. Scott do that to me? I helped you find her in the freezing cold, starving and exhausted. I was at my limit. We finally rescued her, and this is how she treats me?"
William was at a loss for words. Angel had been with him the whole time, helping him look for Margaret. He hadn't expected Margaret's "thanks" to be a punch to Angel.
Seeing Angel's fake act, Margaret couldn't help but snap back, "You're wrong. When did I hit you? I was just helping you with your 'illness.' Look at you now, all full of energy. You helped William rescue me, and now I've saved you once. We're even."
After that, Margaret ignored Angel and grabbed Juniper's hand. "Juniper, let's go find Pryce."
Juniper was taken aback. "Aren't you gonna rest first?"
After all, Margaret had just been rescued after being stuck in a cave for two days, and she looked beat.
But Margaret shook her head, Bradley's health issue still hung in her head. "I wanna find Pryce ASAP."
"Margaret, I'll go with you," William suddenly said in a serious tone.
Before Margaret could say anything, Angel clung to William, holding her chest. "William, don't go. Ms. Scott's punch, it hurts so much. "
William frowned. "Marjorie, I'll have Peter take you back first. Once I find Pryce, I'll come to you."
Seeing William insist on going with Margaret to find Pryce, a dark look flashed in Angel's eyes. She held onto William tightly, tears streaming down her face, looking all pitiful. "William, you once said you'd protect me for life, that you'd love me forever. Now you're just gonna leave me behind?"
Those words hit Margaret like a ton of bricks. William had once said the same things to her. But he had also said the same things to Marjorie.
Taking a deep breath, Margaret shoved all the painful feelings aside and glanced at Juniper. "Juniper, let's roll!"
Margaret grabbed Juniper's hand and started to walk away.
Watching Margaret's cold retreat, William absentmindedly told Angel, "Marjorie, be good and go back with Peter first."
"William!" Angel clenched her fists tightly.
Under Angel's jealous glare, William caught up with Margaret and said in a serious tone, "Margaret, I'm coming with you to find Pryce."
Margaret stopped and looked back at him with a blank expression. "No need. Pryce doesn't like strangers. You should stay with your Marjorie."
"Margaret, Marjorie and I..." William was about to explain when a man's urgent voice interrupted from a distance. "Margaret!"
Margaret turned towards the voice and saw Lyle rushing over.
"Lyle, what are you doing here?" Margaret asked, surprised.
Lyle quickly closed the distance. "I saw the news and found out you were in trouble. Why didn't you tell me?"
Earlier, when Margaret suddenly left with Juniper, Lyle had no idea where she went. It wasn't until he saw the news that he realized Margaret was in trouble, and he rushed over immediately. He didn't expect to be a step too late, with William rescuing Margaret first.
Margaret thought for a moment and smiled. "I didn't want you to worry, so I didn't tell you."
After a pause, Margaret added, "Lyle, I'm fine. We're going to find Pryce now. You should head back."
Lyle's eyes were locked on Margaret's face. "Margaret, I'm coming with you."
After thinking for a moment, Margaret nodded. "Alright, let's go!"
William's handsome face suddenly turned dark. Just now, Margaret had refused to let him come along, saying that Pryce didn't like strangers. But now, she was letting Lyle tag along? Did that mean he was a stranger, but Lyle wasn't?
Margaret, Juniper, and Lyle headed towards Crystal Peak together.
"Margaret, why were you so reckless to come here alone? Why didn't you tell me or let me come with you?" Lyle was still shaken by the thought of Margaret encountering an avalanche and almost losing her life.
Before Margaret could respond, Juniper frowned and said, "Lyle, Margaret just got out of danger. Can you give her a break?"
"Sorry, Margaret." Lyle was taken aback and then fell silent.
Juniper was still thinking about what had happened earlier. "Margaret, you should've let William come with us."
"Why?" Margaret pursed her lips.
Juniper sighed, "Can't you see that he cares about you? And everyone knows that Angel has feelings for him. Aren't you just pushing William into her arms?"
Margaret understood this logic, but whenever she thought of what Angel had said and how William had been so concerned about Angel, she felt suffocated.
"Don't push William away just because you're mad," Juniper said, somewhat frustrated.
Lyle couldn't stay calm. "Juniper, what are you talking about? William likes Marjorie. Don't interfere."
Juniper knew that Lyle liked Margaret, but Margaret liked William, and now there was also Angel. Faced with this complicated love quadrangle, Juniper could only shake her head helplessly.
