Chapter 239 Proposing Again
Margaret squinted, looking a bit confused.
'If it's not a candlelight dinner, then what the heck is it? Is William planning something crazy?' Margaret had a hunch but couldn't quite pin it down.
Before she could figure it out, William's smooth voice snapped her back to reality. "Margaret, try this, it's your favorite."
"Thanks." Margaret blinked and saw William placing a peeled shrimp on her plate. She picked up the shrimp and chowed down. It was bomb.
Watching her devour the food, William grinned, peeled another shrimp, and put it on her plate. "Have some more."
"I can do it myself," Margaret mumbled, her lips twitching.
William's eyes locked onto hers, his voice deep and serious. "I like peeling shrimp for you. If you're cool with it, I'd do it for a lifetime."
Margaret's fork paused mid-air. That line sounded familiar. William had said it before. Now, he was saying it again, and it made her heart race.
She lowered her eyes, pretending not to hear, and kept eating.
William's intense gaze never left her. Tonight, he was determined to win her back.
"I'm stuffed. Can I go now?" Half an hour later, Margaret felt full and stood up, looking at William.
William stepped in front of her, blocking her way. "Hold up."
"I've got stuff to do at home," Margaret frowned.
Today, Jack had taken a hit and would definitely strike back at the Fisher Group. She needed to whip up new designs for the "Ice and Fire" jewelry line and get them out there ASAP.
Margaret planned to head back tonight and work on those designs to seize the moment.
"Margaret, come with me," William said, not giving her a chance to leave. He grabbed her hand and led her off the yacht, not taking no for an answer.
"William, what are you up to?" Margaret asked, exasperated.
William smirked. "Come with me, and you'll find out."
Margaret rolled her eyes. "Just spill it. I hate being kept in suspense..."
Before she could finish, she stopped dead in her tracks. In front of her were a bunch of helicopters, all sizes, looking super impressive.
When they arrived earlier, these choppers weren't there.
Seeing William, the pilots lined up and saluted. "Mr. Fisher!"
William nodded and asked, "Everything ready?"
"Yes, Mr. Fisher," the pilots replied in unison.
"What is this?" Margaret was even more confused.
William pulled her onto the biggest helicopter, seating her by the window, and sat down next to her.
The helicopter slowly lifted off.
"Hey, what are you doing? I'm scared of heights," Margaret said, closing her eyes, feeling totally freaked out.
Seeing Margaret showing a rare timid side, William chuckled softly, reached out his well-defined hand, and pulled her into his arms.
"Margaret, with me here, you don't need to be scared," William leaned in slightly and whispered in her ear.
His warm breath tickled her ear, making it tingle.
Snuggled in William's strong embrace, that familiar feeling made Margaret feel a bit dazed. Honestly, she really liked it.
"Margaret, open your eyes," William suddenly said, reaching out to rub her hair.
Margaret opened her eyes. Leaning on William's shoulder, her fear of heights started to fade. But she still had no idea what William was up to, taking her so high up at night.
Seeing the confusion in her eyes, William's voice was low and husky as he spoke, "Margaret, I'm taking you to see your parents because I have something important to tell them."
"See my parents?" Margaret was stunned. Xavier had said her parents had long passed away in an accident.
"Yeah," William responded lightly.
"Stop beating around the bush. What's all this about tonight?" Margaret rubbed her temples, her cold gaze falling on William's face.
William leaned closer, pointing at the twinkling stars in the night sky, and spoke in a deep voice, "Margaret, remember when we were on the Ferris wheel at Fleurancia amusement park? I told you your parents never left you, they just went to heaven. They're watching over you and caring for you from another place."
Margaret was slightly moved. Of course, she remembered. That time, William had confessed to her on the Ferris wheel and kissed her.
She remembered him saying the top of the Ferris wheel was the closest place to happiness. If lovers kissed at the top, they'd never be separated.
Past scenes kept flashing through Margaret's mind.
Before she could speak, she heard William pointing at the two brightest stars and suddenly raising his voice, "Mr. Scott, Mrs. Scott, I'm William. I want to marry Margaret and take care of her for a lifetime. If you agree, don't move. If you don't agree, hide behind the clouds."
In the quiet night, the starlight was brilliant, illuminating the earth and the helicopter.
William's deep gaze was fixed on Margaret's face, his voice as smooth as a cello. "Margaret, your parents have agreed. You won't refuse me, right?"
So that was what it was. Listening to William's incredibly alluring words, Margaret's heart began to race.
"What?" Margaret looked away.
She knew this was just William's trick. But, she was still slightly moved.
Seeing Margaret's silence, William suddenly knelt on one knee, and like performing a magic trick, he took out a ring. "Margaret, say yes, marry me!"
Margaret's heart skipped a beat as her gaze fell on the ring in William's hand. It was the ring she had returned to him after they called off their engagement. Now, with William suddenly proposing again, she felt a bit at a loss.
