Chapter 462 The Mole

William softened his tone and explained things gently to Margaret, clearly not wanting to argue anymore. Seeing this, Margaret's temper also eased.

To her, it wasn't a big deal at all. She just couldn't understand why William would get so furious seeing her dance. She really disliked anyone trying to restrict her freedom.

"Look, I get you're jealous, but you gotta trust me. At least don't keep acting like you did today. It makes me feel like you're trying to control my freedom."

This was the first time Margaret had expressed these feelings to William. Since they had decided to be together, it was better to lay everything out in the open to avoid similar conflicts in the future.

William was taken aback for a moment. He admitted that sometimes his possessiveness towards Margaret got the better of him, but he was certain that this possessiveness stemmed from love.

He understood his own mind.

"Alright, I get it." After a moment of contemplation, William nodded. He recognized his shortcomings. His actions and words earlier were driven by jealousy, but since Margaret didn't like them, he could change.

Margaret smiled and sincerely held his hand. "I know you don't like me being with others, and you're jealous, but you need to trust me. We'll work on this together, and I won't make you unhappy in the future, okay?"

Looking into Margaret's eyes, William finally showed a hint of a smile. He ruffled her hair affectionately.

"Alright, I understand. Now, eat your noodles before they get cold."

Margaret nodded, picked up her utensils, and started eating. During this break, William glanced at her computer screen and noticed it was still the design draft from the last competition. Curious, he asked Margaret.

"Why are you still working on your competition design? Isn't everything ready, just waiting for the contest to start? What's going on?"

Margaret gave him a look that said, "You still don't get it?" She took a deep breath and turned to him. "Mia arrived in Parislia a few days ago. She even went to Leo's studio to ask Camille about custom dresses and the design competition. She's probably trying to find out about my design. I've also found out that she's teamed up with Susan to ruin my reputation."

Mia?

Hearing that name again, William frowned. Mia had survived against all odds, and now she was relentlessly pursuing Margaret.

He couldn't help but furrow his brow, his tone less relaxed than before. "So, what are you going to do?"

Margaret shrugged and gestured for him to look at the computer screen. "Since they want to know, I'll let Camille tell them. I'll just tweak my design a bit. It's no big deal."

"In any case—" Margaret's tone grew firmer, "this time, I'm going to make Susan pay for her actions."

William instinctively felt that this matter wasn't so simple. If Susan could team up with Mia, they might have more tricks up their sleeves. He looked at Margaret, still worried, and spoke up, "If Mia can come back unnoticed and find you in Parislia, she's not someone to be underestimated. And I've heard of Susan, too. You need to be careful and protect yourself."

Margaret looked at him and smiled slightly, patting his hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'll be careful and won't make you worry. Now, I'm going to get some water."

Just as Margaret stood up to leave, William wrapped his arms around her waist. His chin rested on her left shoulder, his arms encircling her. His voice was low, and his breath warmed her ear.

"Margaret, I'm serious. Once you're done with this, let's go back home and have our engagement party. I don't want to wait anymore. I can't wait. I want you to marry me."

Though William's words were somewhat intimate, Margaret could sense the deep affection behind them. She lowered her eyes and smiled, patting his arm gently. "Alright, let go of me first. You're holding me too tight."

William released her, and Margaret turned to straighten his collar, smiling at him. "Are you really that eager? What about your grandfather? And the engagement party will take time to prepare. Have you already made arrangements?"

"Don't worry about Grandpa." William thought it was something serious, but hearing Margaret's concerns, he relaxed and smiled confidently. He knew Bradley's temperament well.

"He can't wait for me to bring you home so you can't escape. As for the engagement party, don't worry. I'll take care of everything. I'll give you the grandest engagement party in the world, making everyone envy you."

William's attitude now was worlds apart from when he pretended to be engaged to Angel. If Angel were here to see this, she would undoubtedly realize that she could never compare to Margaret in William's heart.

Love can sometimes make people feel incredibly small and sad.

"Alright, alright, I understand your feelings. You don't need to repeat them. I trust you and I'm looking forward to it." Margaret's voice was soft and gentle. She touched William's cheek, and they gazed at each other, eventually kissing passionately. When they finally pulled away, Margaret's face was slightly flushed.

"Okay, okay, stop teasing. We'll talk more after I'm done."

After that day, Mia rarely visited Leo's studio. She found time to meet Susan at their usual spot, a café.

Looking at Susan across the table, Mia spoke in a low voice, "I know what Margaret's design looks like."

Upon hearing this, Susan immediately perked up and leaned in to listen to Mia's whispers. After hearing Mia's plan, Susan smiled, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

"In that case, why don't we do this..." Susan whispered to Mia, "Since we know what her design looks like, I'll arrange for someone to steal Margaret's design before the competition, modify it, and then submit it. If Margaret tries to investigate, it will be Leo's studio's fault."

Mia nodded, then added, "But this person can't be one of ours."

Susan paused, giving Mia a meaningful look, instantly understanding her intentions. They both shared a knowing smile.
