Chapter 89 A Brilliant Comeback (Part 2)
Ella froze for a sec, then her face twisted with pure hatred. "Margaret, you murderer! How dare you show your face here!"
The reporters, hearing Margaret's voice, whipped around, cameras ready to catch every juicy detail.
No one expected Margaret to show up. After all the crap she went through, shouldn't she be hiding? But for the media, Margaret's appearance was like striking gold. A showdown would make their live broadcast pop, draw more viewers, and skyrocket their ratings.
So, a reporter stepped up and asked, "Ella and Abigail just spilled the tea about what went down at Lover's Lake. They both swear you pushed Ella in. What's your take on that?"
Margaret let out a light laugh. "Abigail, did you really see me push Ella into the water with your own eyes?"
"Of course, my classmate and I saw it all," Abigail said, all confident.
"Really?" Margaret's lips curled into a mocking grin as she looked at Ella. "So, Ella, did you really see me push you into the water?"
"Of course! You were so vicious, trying to kill me. How could I be mistaken? I'd recognize you anywhere." Ella spat out, her pale face twisted with rage.
"Alright, Ella, since you're so sure I pushed you into the water to kill you, then you're not dead now, right? Who saved you?" Margaret asked coldly.
Ella was caught off guard. She knew it was Margaret who saved her and even did CPR. But no way she was gonna admit that.
She glared at Margaret. "I had already fainted and was unconscious. How would I know?"
"Abigail, what about you? Since you saw me push Ella into the water, you must have seen who saved her, right?" Margaret crossed her arms, cool as a cucumber.
Abigail hesitated. "It was Lyle."
"Lyle, you saved her?" Margaret looked towards the ward door and raised her voice.
The reporters buzzed with excitement. Could it be that the famous actor Lyle Pennington was here too?
Under the reporters' eager eyes, Lyle stepped in, took off his hat and sunglasses, revealing his stunning face.
Knowing that Lyle was usually super low-key and rarely did media interviews, many reporters had spent sleepless nights trying to get a shot of him. And now, Lyle was actually here!
A reporter, barely containing their excitement, asked, "Lyle, were you at Lover's Lake that day?"
"Yes." Lyle nodded slightly.
The reporter pressed on. "Did you see what happened? Did Margaret push Ella into the water?"
Lyle cleared his throat and spoke in a deep voice, "No. That day at Lover's Lake, Margaret and I were shooting an outdoor commercial. She went to find the best spot, and when I arrived, Ella had already fallen in. I tried to save her, but I’m a terrible swimmer and nearly drowned. Luckily, Margaret jumped in without hesitation and saved us."
As soon as Lyle said this, the reporters looked at each other, totally floored. Margaret jumped in to save Ella? If she really wanted to off her, why would she dive in to play hero?
Seeing the reporters' confused faces, Lyle smoothly pulled out his phone, opened the gallery, and showed them. "Here's the video I took. Check it out."
In the clip, Margaret was seen sweating bullets, performing CPR on Ella like a pro.
"You all saw it. If I pushed Ella in, why would I bother saving her? Am I nuts?" Margaret shot a sarcastic look at the reporters.
The reporters nodded, starting to doubt Ella's story.
Seeing this, Abigail quickly piped up, "Because you thought Ella was already dead! You were just faking CPR to cover your tracks!"
"Do you think I'm as dumb as you, not knowing the difference between a live person and a dead one?" Margaret rubbed her temples and sneered.
Margaret's words made a reporter chuckle. Abigail's face twisted. "Margaret, don't think a few words can cover up your crime of attempted murder!"
"That's right!" Ella clutched her chest, glaring daggers at Margaret. "No matter why you saved me, it doesn't change the fact that you pushed me in to kill me!"
"Really? Who was trying to harm whom?" Margaret's eyes narrowed. "Remember the underground garage at the Fisher Group? Who came at me with a knife?"
Seeing Margaret had more to spill, the reporters eagerly asked, "Do you mean..."
The Fisher Group's underground garage had surveillance cameras. Margaret had snagged the footage early that morning.
Margaret played the video. In the clip, Ella was seen cursing at Margaret like a maniac, then suddenly pulling out a knife and lunging at her!
At the same time, she screamed, "Margaret, go to hell!"
The video cut off, and Margaret spoke coldly, "Everyone saw it. Ella came at me with a knife, trying to kill me! Same thing at Lover's Lake. She tried to push me in, but karma bit her, and she fell in herself."
Margaret's video was live-streamed, and people across the country saw it. Messages flooded the screen.
[Ella's no saint either.]
[Looks like there's a twist.]
[This plot is getting wild!]
[Lyle is so hot. Anyone else here just for Lyle? Team Lyle and Margaret all the way!]
Ella's face went through a rainbow of emotions. "Margaret, you're lying! You pushed me in!"
"I'm lying?" Margaret's lips curled into a cold smile. "Wasn't it you who came at me with a knife? Wasn't it you who screamed 'Margaret, go to hell'?"
Everyone nodded, eyeing Ella suspiciously.
Ella, flustered, said, "Even if I wanted you dead then, it doesn't prove anything. These are two separate incidents."
Margaret chuckled. "Oh, so you finally admit you wanted me dead, huh?"
