Chapter 235 Sleeping in the Same Bed
Angel heard the click of the phone hanging up, and her face darkened.
She just heard Margaret's voice on the other end, which meant William and Margaret were together.
Back in the day, all she had to do was play the sick and weak card, and William would drop everything to come running. But now he just hung up on her. She guessed it had to be because of Margaret.
She had this whole plan to pin the Fisher Group's bid leak on Margaret. But she never thought Margaret would turn the tables so easily. Now William was super disappointed in her.
Thinking about it, Angel's fingers clenched into fists, and a look of pure malice crossed her face. She thought, 'Margaret, I won't let you get away with this!'
Margaret flopped onto the couch and stretched out.
After tonight's award ceremony, everyone knew she was the big boss behind Starlight Entertainment.
Margaret liked to keep things low-key and chill. Now that her cover was blown, she worried she wouldn't have the same freedom. Lost in thought, she slowly drifted off to sleep.
In the room, William's eyes never left Margaret. Seeing her sprawled on the couch, he suddenly got up and walked over to the living room.
The place was dead quiet, not even the sound of Margaret's soft breathing.
William moved closer and sat down next to her. His intense gaze locked onto her face.
The soft moonlight made her already perfect skin look even more flawless. Her delicate features were like those of a sleeping beauty, totally enchanting.
William couldn't resist leaning down and planting a gentle kiss on her face.
Margaret made a small sound, curling up instinctively.
Seeing her all twisted up on the couch, William reached out and scooped her up. He carefully carried her to the bedroom and laid her on the big bed.
Just as he lay down beside her and was about to pull up the blanket, Margaret suddenly reached out and hugged him tight.
"Teddy bear, don't move, let me hug you," she mumbled in her sleep, nuzzling his chest.
"Teddy bear, you're so good," she murmured, feeling all cozy and giving it a few sleepy kisses.
Her lips brushed against William's chest, His breath hitched, and his eyes darkened. He whispered softly in her ear, "Margaret, come back to me, okay?"
"Teddy bear, don't make noise, let me sleep," she mumbled, her delicate brows furrowing.
William gently kissed her forehead and pulled the blanket over her.
The next morning, bright sunlight streamed through the window onto the big bed.
Margaret woke up groggily, and as soon as she opened her eyes, she found herself staring into a pair of deep eyes.
"William, what are you doing here?" she asked, startled by the familiar handsome face.
Looking around, she realized she was lying on the bed without knowing when.
"William, what do you want?" Margaret asked, her guard up.
William smirked, his tone playful. "Looks like you're the one clinging to me now."
Margaret suddenly realized her hands were wrapped around his neck. Feeling a wave of embarrassment, she quickly let go.
Last night, she vaguely remembered dreaming about hugging her childhood teddy bear and even kissing it a few times.
Seeing her flustered, William chuckled. "Got any food in the fridge? I'll whip us up some breakfast."
"No need, don't trouble yourself. I'll do it," Margaret said, feeling awkward about letting William cook, even though he was pretty good at it.
She tried to get up, but William gently pushed her back down.He leaned in, his deep eyes locking onto hers, and his voice was like velvet. "It's no trouble. If you're up for it, I'd love to make you breakfast every day."
With that, William turned and headed to the kitchen.
Watching his tall figure, Margaret felt a bit dazed. It felt like old times, back when they were still in love.
William had said similar things before. Actually, it was just a month ago.
Hearing those words again now, Margaret felt as if it were a lifetime ago.
Taking a few deep breaths to clear her head, she lay back on the bed, pulled out her phone, and started scrolling through the news.
Sure enough, last night's award ceremony was all over the headlines. And the revelation that Margaret was the owner behind Starlight Entertainment was blowing up, with all the comments taking a new tone.
[Margaret is amazing! I really like her!]
[So Ms. Scott is Lyle's boss, not a homewrecker! We all misunderstood her before!]
[I still hope Ms. Scott and Lyle can be together, but unfortunately, last night's proposal was just a promotion.]
[Ms. Scott and Mr. Fisher are a better match, I support the two being together!]
All her previous negative press had vanished.
After browsing for a bit, Margaret put her phone away, got up, and walked to the kitchen.
William was busy cooking. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Margaret standing at the kitchen door, and his heart skipped a beat. He pretended to cut his hand with the knife.
"Ouch, I cut my hand," William exclaimed dramatically, clutching his right index finger with his left hand.
Margaret rushed over. "Are you okay?"
"It hurts," William said, his face scrunched up in fake pain.
"How could you be so careless? Let me see," Margaret said, genuinely concerned. She reached out to check his "wound."
William took the chance to grab her hand, his voice clear and sincere. "Margaret, you care about me."
Margaret looked down and saw his hand was perfectly fine, not a scratch on it. He'd been faking it.
Margaret was speechless. Last night he pretended to be sick, and now he was pretending to be hurt. The usually intimidating Mr. Fisher had a childish side too.
"William, can you be any more childish?" Margaret frowned and glared at him.
Before she could say more, William leaned in and kissed her.
Margaret gasped, struggling, but she was no match for William and couldn't break free.
