Chapter 476 I Just Want to Hug You
Margaret had always been strong-willed, rarely showing such sadness.
William took a long stride to her side and wrapped his arm around her.
"What's up?" he asked, pulling her into his embrace with concern.
Leaning against William's broad, solid chest, Margaret felt an inexplicable sense of comfort.
She shook her head and gave a faint smile. "It's nothing."
William guessed that Margaret was thinking about Xavier. "Why don't you give Grandpa a call? With the time difference, it should be daytime there. You can also tell him about our engagement party."
Margaret nodded and dialed Xavier's number.
"Hey Grandpa, it's me. It should be noon over there, right?" Margaret asked with a smile.
Hearing her voice, Xavier was delighted. "Yeah, it's noon. I just got back from an outing. I'll be here for a few more days."
Knowing Xavier was having a good time, Margaret felt relieved.
"Grandpa, William and I have set our engagement party for next weekend. When will you be back?" Margaret asked, knowing Xavier had to be there for her big day.
Seeing the smile on Margaret's face, William felt reassured, knowing Xavier was in good health.
On the other end, Xavier said happily, "I'll be back in Ravenford in a few days. I wouldn't miss my granddaughter's engagement party for the world. I've prepared a special gift for you and William. You're going to love it."
"Really?" Margaret felt a warmth in her heart.
Just seeing Xavier and receiving his blessing would make her happy.
As for the gift, Xavier had always spoiled her, wanting to give her the stars if he could.
"It's late there, isn't it? Get some rest," Xavier's kind voice came through the phone.
"Okay," Margaret nodded.
After hanging up, Margaret's thoughts drifted.
In her memory, there was only Xavier. She had never seen her parents.
Xavier had told her that her parents died in an accident.
But even if they had, she should have some memory of them.
Why couldn't she remember anything?
Sometimes, fragments of memories would flash through her mind.
Margaret tried hard to piece them together, but she could never quite manage it.
And who was Betty?
What was the relationship between Pryce and Betty?
Why did Pryce always avoid the topic whenever she mentioned Betty, as if hiding something from her?
Why?
Margaret remembered Pryce once said Betty was her aunt.
So where was Betty now?
Judging by Pryce's demeanor, he seemed to love Betty very much.
If Betty was still around, why was Pryce living alone in the remote, icy Crystal Peak instead of looking for her?
Could it be...
There were many things Margaret couldn't understand. She had tried to investigate but found nothing.
"Margaret, what's wrong?" William asked worriedly, seeing her face grow more serious after the call.
Margaret snapped back to reality, meeting William's concerned gaze, and felt a stir in her heart.
"Nothing, it's late. Let's get some rest," she said, her face showing a hint of fatigue.
As soon as she finished speaking, William suddenly scooped her up.
"What are you doing?" Margaret exclaimed as she was lifted off the ground.
"Aren't we going to rest?" William looked down at her with a teasing smile.
He carried her into his room and gently placed her on the king-size bed.
"I want to go back to my room," Margaret protested.
She didn't want to share a bed with William.
"Don't move," William said firmly, holding her down and wrapping his arms tightly around her waist, keeping her close.
Their proximity was incredibly intimate, and Margaret's breath caught.
"Don't worry, I'm just holding you," William said, sensing her concern. "I promised to respect you."
With William's reassurance, Margaret relaxed.
They fell asleep in each other's arms, and the night passed peacefully.
The next morning, Margaret woke up early, still worried about Lyle and Seraphina.
After breakfast, she headed to Starlight Entertainment.
On the way, she checked her phone. The topic of Lyle was still trending, with many negative comments.
Margaret rubbed her temples, worried that this might affect the release of "The Last Actor."
At Starlight Entertainment, she went straight to Lyle's office.
"Margaret," Lyle said, sitting at his desk, expressionless as he read the online comments about him. His eyes lit up when he saw her enter.
Margaret walked in and said calmly, "Lyle, I've thought it over. You should clarify this matter yourself. Otherwise, the negative publicity will harm Starlight Entertainment."
Lyle's gaze slowly returned to her face, scrutinizing her as if trying to see through her. He didn't say a word.
Margaret exhaled deeply, turning her head to calm herself. After a moment, she heard Lyle ask, "Are you really going to get engaged to William?"
Of all times, he was still thinking about that!
Sometimes, Margaret felt helpless with Lyle. She had been rejecting him from the start, not understanding why he was so persistent.
"Yes, I'm getting engaged to him next weekend."
Lyle had imagined this scenario countless times, but hearing it from Margaret still hurt deeply. His eyes darkened as he looked down.
Seeing him like this, Margaret sighed and kindly advised, "Lyle, I've told you many times. I love William, and he loves me. Why waste your time on me? Cherish the people around you and stop thinking about me."
Lyle looked up, surprised that Margaret brought this up.
"You mean—"
Margaret nodded. "Seraphina is a good girl. I could tell she likes you when we were at the hospital. Why not give her a chance?"
"Seraphina?" Lyle repeated, a slight smile on his lips. He admitted Seraphina was great, but he didn't have feelings for her.
After a while, Lyle shook his head. "I don't want to lead Seraphina on. She's a wonderful girl, but I only see her as a sister."
The office door was ajar. Seraphina had arrived early and stood outside, wanting to apologize to Lyle. Hearing the conversation inside, she was taken aback by Lyle's words.
