Chapter 294 An Embarrassing Scene

"Okay." Margaret rubbed her temples.

She had no idea who was trying to kill her.

Just then, there was a knock on the door from Peter. "Mr. Fisher, may I come in?"

William's clear voice responded, "Come in!"

Peter pushed the door open, walked up to William, and said respectfully, "Mr. Fisher, we have news."

"Is it about the person behind Leander?" Margaret asked eagerly.

"Yes, Ms. Scott." Peter nodded.

"Did you find out who was behind Leander?" Margaret asked urgently.

She was desperate to know who hated her so much that they would hire Leander to kill her.

"It's Mia," Peter said solemnly.

Margaret was stunned.

Margaret had considered the possibility, given that Mia had hated her to the core and had tried to harm her multiple times.

However, when Mia was taken away by Matthew, he had repeatedly assured her that he would keep an eye on Mia and not let her cause any more trouble.

Moreover, Margaret didn't think Mia had enough influence to hire Leander.

As if he could see the doubt in Margaret's mind, Peter handed her a stack of photos.

Margaret took them, lowered her head, and her eyes fell on the photos.

They were intimate photos of Mia and Leander.

Peter explained, "Leander used to be one of Mia's suitors. He did quite well in the underworld and couldn't forget Mia. The two of them reached an agreement."

"I see." Margaret squinted her eyes, suddenly understanding. 'Mia is truly a madwoman!'

"Have you found Mia?" William's handsome face darkened as he asked in a deep voice.

Peter shook his head. "Not yet."

"Then why are you still standing here? Go find her!" William said coldly.

"Yes, Mr. Fisher!" Peter responded and turned to leave.

Margaret felt a bit uncomfortable in her arm, changed her position, and then reached out to rub it.

"Let me help you," William said, seeing how hard it was for Margaret to massage herself. He quickly took her arm and gently massaged it inch by inch.

His careful and nervous demeanor made it seem like she was his most precious treasure.

Margaret couldn't help but laugh. "You don't have to be so careful. I'm not so fragile."

"But I care about you," he blurted out without thinking.

Margaret was suddenly stunned, her red lips pressed together instinctively.

Her moment of shyness was caught by William as he looked up at her.

Their eyes met, and the air seemed to freeze at that moment.

Margaret felt a bit awkward and wanted to change the subject.

But before she could finish her sentence, William raised his well-defined hand, cupped the back of her head, and gently kissed her.

William skillfully pried open Margaret's teeth, entangling with her.

He wasn't as urgent and domineering as before, afraid of hurting her, only gently probing.

One hand cupped the back of her head, while the other gently supported her back, keeping her in the most comfortable position.

Just then, Anthony's abrupt voice suddenly came through. "Ms. Scott, you're finally awake. I've been extremely worried about you these past two days!"

Anthony had found some information about Angel and wanted to tell Margaret, but he couldn't reach her. Worried that something had happened to her, he immediately inquired about her situation and found out she was in the hospital.

As soon as he learned from the doctor that Margaret was awake, he rushed over.

When he opened the door, he saw the two of them locked in a passionate embrace, the ward filled with an intimate atmosphere.

The moment was instantly awkward.

Anthony's face stiffened. "Sorry, wrong time, my bad!"

In his excitement and worry, he had forgotten to knock!

Turning around, Anthony was about to leave.

Margaret's face was burning, and she quickly pushed William away. Seeing his look of lingering desire, she hurriedly averted her gaze.

Margaret's eyes fell on Anthony, who was standing at the door with his back to them. She said in a deep voice, "Aren't you coming in?"

Anthony then turned around and came in, greeting William, "Sorry about that, Mr. Fisher. I have something to discuss with Ms. Scott."

He looked at Margaret and earnestly promised. "Don't worry, next time I'll remember to knock!"

Anthony's words only made Margaret feel even more embarrassed.

She moved aside, keeping a safe distance from William.

William could see that although Margaret's face was calm, her ears were extremely blush .

He chuckled softly, his thin lips curling up, and sat on the side without saying a word, his deep gaze fixed on her.

"Drink this," Anthony said, not mentioning the earlier awkwardness. "I had someone make this soup to help you regain your strength. It'll make you feel like a new person."

"Thank you," Margaret said, holding the soup. One sip, and the hot liquid immediately warmed her cold stomach.

Seeing her regain some color, Anthony sat on a chair on the other side, looking at Margaret as if he had something to say.

Margaret understood that he had something to discuss.

Both of them turned their gaze to William, clearly hoping he would give them some privacy.

But William had no intention of leaving.

He didn't want Margaret to be alone with another man.

Margaret had to clear her throat and ask him to leave, "William, could you step out for a moment?"

"Is there something I can't know about?" William asked indifferently.

Margaret glared at him. "Just go out, will you?"

Seeing Margaret like this, William had no choice. He uncrossed his long legs, put his hands in his pockets, and left the ward. "You guys talk. Call me if you need anything."

Now, only Anthony and Margaret were left in the ward.

Anthony asked with concern, "Are you okay?"

Margaret smiled. "I'm fine."

Anthony nodded. "I'm glad you're okay. I was so worried when I heard you were in trouble."

"What did you want to talk to me about?" Margaret asked.

Anthony took out his phone and opened some information. "I found some information about Angel."

"Really?" Margaret was interested. "What information?"

"Look at this photo," Anthony said, opening a photo and handing it to Margaret.

Margaret lowered her eyes and stared at the photo on the screen.

In the photo was a girl of about fifteen or sixteen and a young man in his twenties.

The girl had a ponytail and was wearing a white dress. Margaret could recognize her as Angel.

The man was only photographed from the side, but his profile looked somewhat familiar.
