Chapter 441 Please Save Samuel
It all started with Alden, and now it was Samuel. Margaret had called Pryce over to treat Alden, and now Juniper found herself needing his help again. She couldn't help but feel a bit guilty for troubling him so much.
Juniper lowered her head slightly and let out a self-deprecating laugh. Just then, there were two knocks on the door, followed by Madeline's voice from outside, "Juniper, you up? Come on out and have some breakfast."
Madeline had been worried that Juniper might be mistreated at the Hall family home, so she had insisted on staying at the Hall Villa to take care of her daughter.
Juniper responded and opened the door, heading out to the dining room. The atmosphere at the table was tense. Dione didn't even bother to hide her disdain for Juniper, while Dane occasionally exchanged a few words with her.
"Juniper, eat more. You're eating for two now, you can't neglect yourself."
Juniper smiled and nodded, taking another bite of her steamed dumpling. She didn't put down her utensils until she had finished her bowl of porridge. Lately, her pregnancy symptoms had been severe, and combined with her worries about Samuel, she hadn't been sleeping well, which affected her appetite.
"I'm full. By the way, Mr. Hall, Mom, and Dr. Holt are coming to Ravenford today. I need to go pick him up."
"Dr. Holt?" Madeline was momentarily stunned, then remembered Juniper mentioning a highly skilled doctor who lived in the mountains, like a reclusive master.
"Then you should go quickly, don't keep him waiting."
"Okay, I will." Juniper nodded and hurriedly put on her coat and left. Dione, who had no interest in Juniper, didn't pay attention to their conversation about Pryce. She just rolled her eyes at Juniper and placed her bowl on the table.
"I'm going back to my room!"
At the airport.
Juniper got out of the car and quickly walked into the airport terminal, scanning the crowd for Pryce. She finally spotted him in the southeast corner, walking towards her with the crowd. Juniper stood on her tiptoes and waved vigorously.
"Dr. Holt!"
Pryce heard her and looked over, spotting Juniper. He walked over and nodded.
Juniper smiled apologetically, "Dr. Holt, I'm so sorry to trouble you again."
"It's fine." Pryce shook his head, not expecting to be back in Ravenford so soon. "Let's go straight to the hospital. From what you told me, his condition seems serious. I'll check on him first."
"Okay." Juniper nodded quickly, feeling a bit relieved. With Pryce here, she felt more confident.
Juniper led Pryce to the hospital and into the room where Samuel was. Pryce set his bag aside and began examining Samuel. After a thorough check of Samuel's eyes and body, he looked up at Juniper.
"His will to survive is strong, but due to the car accident, there's still blood clots in his brain that haven't dissipated, which is why he hasn't woken up. These clots won't last forever, but it will take time."
Juniper's anxiety spiked. She was already several months into her pregnancy, and if Samuel didn't wake up, she didn't know what she would do. The guilt and burden would haunt her forever.
She grabbed Pryce's sleeve desperately, pleading, "Dr. Holt, please, you have to save Samuel. He's in this state because of me. I can't just leave him like this."
Pryce looked at Juniper for a moment before letting out a long sigh. "Forcing the blood clots to dissipate with acupuncture carries risks, especially in the head. In his condition, I can only do my best. There's no guarantee of success."
At that moment, Dione arrived at the hospital. She was stunned to see Pryce and was about to say something when Juniper spoke softly, "Mrs. Hall, this is Dr. Holt, a highly skilled doctor. I specifically asked him to come treat Samuel."
Dione just huffed but didn't say much. Samuel had been in the hospital for a while, and she was willing to try anything to wake him up.
"I'm going to start the acupuncture."
Pryce took out his acupuncture kit, sterilized the needles, and began inserting them into specific points on Samuel's body, with the most crucial one at the top of his head.
Juniper watched anxiously, her hands clasped tightly together. Dione also looked on with worry, her face showing her concern.
Suddenly, Samuel's right index finger twitched, and he coughed a few times, spitting out a mouthful of dark blood before lying back down, still unconscious.
Pryce carefully removed the needles, and Dione was shocked to see Samuel spit blood. Juniper quickly wiped away the blood with a tissue.
Pryce let out a breath, "The blood he just spat out was the clot. If it can be expelled, there's hope."
Dione was about to react, but stopped when she heard Pryce's words. She quickly shifted from worry to relief, "Thank you, thank you! When will Samuel wake up?"
Pryce turned to her and said honestly, "I can't say for sure. It depends on how quickly the clots dissipate. The process will get more difficult towards the end. The head has many nerve points, and any mistake during acupuncture could have unpredictable results."
"Alright, we understand. Thank you, thank you so much."
Dione, though still worried, felt a bit more at ease after seeing Samuel's reaction. She repeatedly thanked Pryce.
After returning home, Juniper remained anxious, but Dione's mood had improved noticeably.
Juniper changed her shoes and hesitated before saying, "Mrs. Hall, I'll go upstairs and see if there are any medical books I can read."
"Wait," Dione called out to Juniper, who turned back, puzzled. Dione hesitated before asking, "What do you want for dinner? I'll go out and buy it. You need to eat well for the baby."
Juniper felt a wave of relief and smiled at Dione, "Anything is fine. I like whatever you make."
