Chapter 240 The Three-Month Agreement
Yesterday it was Lyle at the awards ceremony, and today it was William.
Two days in a row, two dudes popped the question, and Margaret was totally speechless. But unlike yesterday, she felt a tiny bit of happiness this time. After all, she still had feelings for William.
Staring at the sincere guy in front of her, Margaret felt kinda out of it. She wasn't sure how real William's feelings were.
She'd noticed William's changing vibes towards Angel. But he had also said Angel had been good to him, and he wouldn't ditch her.
Even at today's press conference, William had thought about Angel's pride and didn't spill the beans that Angel had leaked the Fisher Group's bid.
It was clear Angel still had a special spot in William's heart.
Margaret was almost sure Angel wasn't the real Marjorie, and once she got proof, William would definitely come down hard on Angel. But what if the real Marjorie showed up one day?
Margaret's head was spinning. After being left by William on their engagement day last time, she didn't want a repeat.
Seeing Margaret's silence, William's gaze deepened, and he spoke clearly, "Margaret, will you marry me?"
Margaret looked away and stared out the window.
Through the helicopter window, Margaret saw dozens of helicopters surrounding hers, trailing colorful smoke that formed beautiful patterns and dazzling words.
"Margaret, marry me!"
"Margaret, I love you!"
In the dark night sky, it was super striking. Fresh flower petals were also falling gently. The scene was incredibly romantic.
"Margaret, say yes!" William's tone was kinda bossy. "I'll make you the happiest woman in the world!"
Looking down at William kneeling on one knee, Margaret frowned slightly.
Even though she was touched, Margaret decided she couldn't agree. If she agreed too easily, he wouldn't value her.
Just like last time, no matter the reason, Margaret couldn't accept William being with Angel on their engagement day.
"If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes," William smiled and said in a deep voice.
As he spoke, William stood up, grabbed Margaret's hand, and started to put the ring on her finger.
Feeling the warmth of William's hand, Margaret snapped back to reality and stopped him. "I didn't say I agreed."
William quickly slipped the ring onto Margaret's finger, smiling lightly. "The ring is on, so you have to agree."
Margaret rolled her eyes at William. "Even if it's on, I can take it off," she said coldly, making a move to remove the ring.
"Don't." William's distinct hand grabbed Margaret's, holding her in place.
Margaret looked up into his deep, affectionate eyes, about to speak, but William suddenly leaned down and sealed her lips with his.
Margaret's words caught in her throat. She gasped, trying to push him away, but William didn't budge.
His dominant kiss made Margaret's heart race like crazy. Her lips, sweet and tempting, made William crave more.
Unable to control himself, William deepened the kiss, giving Margaret no room to breathe. Margaret blushed.
Outside, the dozens of helicopters kept making stunning patterns, all romantic and beautiful.
After a long while, William finally pulled back from the lingering kiss.
"Say yes, Margaret," he whispered in her ear, breathless. His deep, husky voice was super seductive.
Margaret patted her flushed cheeks, took a deep breath, and stayed cool.
Seeing Margaret like this, a trace of disappointment and frustration flashed in William's deep eyes. He had never put so much effort into any woman before.
Margaret was the first and would be the only one. But despite everything he had done for her, she didn't appreciate it.
"Margaret, what will it take for you to say yes?" William asked, pressing his hands on her shoulders.
Margaret thought for a moment, pursed her lips, and said, "Our three-month agreement isn't up yet. I'll give you an answer then. In the meantime, let me see how you do."
"Still gotta wait." William's handsome face darkened. She knew how much he loved her and wanted to be with her, yet she still wouldn't agree.
"Want to see my performance?" William suddenly leaned down and planted a kiss on Margaret's forehead. "I'll make sure you're satisfied."
Margaret pushed William away and looked out the window. "Can you have these helicopters leave?"
"Why?" William frowned.
"It's late, and I want to go back early," Margaret said calmly.
William reached out and hugged her. "I'll wait for your answer."
At William's command, the helicopter slowly descended and landed.
Margaret finally breathed a sigh of relief, feeling more grounded on the earth.
"I'll take you home." William held Margaret's hand and walked towards his car.
Margaret suddenly felt a flash of light behind her, like someone was taking pictures. She turned around and saw many people on the beach looking at them from a distance, but nothing unusual.
If William hadn't had the bodyguards clear the area beforehand, they would probably be surrounded by people now. After all, with the grand gesture William had just made, many people must have seen it.
'Would tomorrow's headlines be about William's failed proposal?' Margaret glanced at William and secretly smiled. 'Someone as proud as William will never let news of his failed proposal get out.'
Just then, Margaret's phone rang. She took out her phone and saw it was a call from Lyle.
Seeing the name "Lyle" flashing on the screen, William's already unpleasant expression turned even colder.
