Chapter 257 Stunning Others

The next day, the sun was blazing, and Margaret was up at the crack of dawn. After a few days of chillin', her allergy was totally gone.

As soon as Margaret hit the stairs, she spotted William hustling in the kitchen, whipping up breakfast. She strolled over. "Where's Isolde?"

"She took the day off," William said, not even looking up.

Margaret gave William a once-over. "Let me handle it."

Truth be told, Margaret wasn't half bad in the kitchen. She didn't love cooking, but William had made breakfast for her a bunch of times, and she hadn't lifted a finger.

"Can you?" William's voice had a hint of skepticism. He'd never seen Margaret cook before.

"Totally," Margaret said with a confident grin, "Not only can I cook, but I'm pretty awesome at it."

"Really?" William chuckled. "Maybe next time, I'll give your cooking a shot."

After a beat, he gently nudged Margaret out of the kitchen, his tone unusually soft. "It's smoky in here. Go chill in the dining room."

Margaret felt a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

While they were munching on breakfast, Lyle called Margaret.

Just as Margaret was about to pick up, William snatched her phone.

"What the heck? Give it back!" Margaret shot William a glare.

William ignored her, answered the call, and said coldly, "I'll take Margaret to the set. You don't need to worry."

Before Lyle could say anything, he hung up.

"You're too much, William. How can you just answer my phone like that?" Margaret said, clearly annoyed.

William gave her a sideways glance. " Can't stand being away from Lyle?"

Margaret looked confused.

William insisted on driving Margaret to the set, and she had no choice but to roll with it.

"Alright, you can drop me off here. Get to work," Margaret said as she hopped out of the car, noticing William was about to follow her.

Just as Margaret was about to walk away, William grabbed her. He looked down at her and asked coldly, "Do you really have to go to the shoot?"

Margaret was speechless.

"Of course. William, when did you become such a nag?" Margaret shot William a look.

William smirked, leaned down to her ear, and said in a low, husky voice, "I'm worried about you."

After all, the person lurking in the shadows wanting to harm Margaret was still out there. He was worried.

"I'm fine. You should go," Margaret said, pushing William back into the car.

The traffic was already a mess, and with William's delay, Margaret was late when she finally rushed to the set.

"Margaret, you're here." Lyle immediately approached when he saw Margaret.

He was supposed to pick up Margaret this morning, and she had agreed yesterday. But when he confirmed again this morning, it was William who answered the phone.

Just now, he saw that it was William who had brought Margaret.

Lyle felt a bit hurt, realizing he never held a place in Margaret's heart.

"Yeah," Margaret responded lightly, glancing around. The actors and the director were already there.

At that moment, a sudden voice rang out. "Ms. Scott, late on the first day of shooting?"

Margaret frowned and turned towards the voice. It was Skylar.

Skylar was a big deal at Starlight Entertainment and the lead actress in "Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses."

Lately, Skylar's fame had skyrocketed, and she was one of the top actresses. She even snagged the Best Actress award this year.

Everyone knew Skylar had a thing for Lyle, and there were always rumors flying around about them. They were both superstars and often played couples on screen, making them seem like the perfect pair.

Skylar had fallen for Lyle the moment she laid eyes on him.

Back when she was just starting out, Lyle was already a big name. She had followed in Lyle's footsteps, waiting until she felt worthy of him. The media often called them a match made in heaven. But Lyle only saw her as a co-star.

She used to think Lyle was just career-focused and believed that if she kept at it, she'd eventually win him over. But she never expected that Lyle loved Margaret deeply.

So, when Skylar saw Margaret today, she couldn't hide her jealousy, even though Margaret was the CEO of Starlight Entertainment.

The only reason Margaret got the role of the third female lead in "Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses" was because of her status. Otherwise, it was impossible for someone who had never acted before to land such a role.

Margaret felt Skylar's hostility and frowned.  She had always thought highly of Skylar and didn't get why she was so hostile towards her.

Facing Skylar's accusation, Margaret smiled. "Sorry, traffic was a mess, and I held everyone up."

"Ms. Scott, you're the boss. It's only natural for us to wait for you," Skylar said sarcastically, checking the time. "If it were anyone else wasting my time like this, I'd ask the director to replace them."

"Skylar, it's Margaret's first time on set. She doesn't know the way. Being late is normal, and it was only five minutes." Lyle stepped in to defend Margaret.

"Let's get started," Lyle urged.

After changing clothes and getting her makeup done, Margaret walked out of the dressing room, stunning everyone. She wore a white pleated dress that highlighted her noble vibe and her graceful, slender figure.

At that moment, Lyle's eyes were filled with amazement and admiration. He knew Margaret was beautiful, but he didn't expect her to look even more stunning in this dress, making it hard for him to look away.

Meanwhile, Skylar was burning with jealousy. She had always prided herself on her beauty, but she didn't expect Margaret, a guest star in the third female lead role, to outshine her, the lead actress.

"Let's start," said the director, Wayne Cooper, Starlight Entertainment's chief director. Young and talented, he had produced many popular works and was well-loved by the audience.
