Chapter 37 An Unusual Meeting

However, in the next second, William's icy voice made Lucy feel as if she had fallen into an ice cellar. "Lucy, I told you to leave."

"But William!" Lucy's eyes widened in disbelief, and she bit her lip. "I haven't explained the proposal to you yet!"

William frowned and glanced at her impatiently. "Just leave it here."

"But my brother told me to explain it to you carefully." Lucy looked aggrieved.

William was driving her away in front of Margaret, which made her feel completely humiliated.

In the past, although William had been somewhat cold to her, he had never driven her away like this.

Ever since Margaret came to the Fisher family, everything had changed!

William wouldn't even look at her, and now he was even driving her away!

Margaret was the cause of this!

Seeing Lucy's shocked expression, Margaret felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction. She curled her lips and mocked. "Lucy, do you doubt my man's ability to understand the proposal?"

Lucy grabbed William's arm, eager to explain, "William, that's not what I meant."

William coldly withdrew his arm and frowned. "Leave."

Lucy glared at Margaret fiercely and walked out of the CEO's office with extreme reluctance.

Margaret gave William an approving look. "Well done."

William's expression was indifferent. "Aren't I a stranger? Why did you call me your husband?"

Margaret gave a dry laugh. "Well, don't you like Marjorie? Don't you think it's a good idea that I help you get rid of these annoying women? So Marjorie won't get jealous knowing so many women are after you."

When Margaret mentioned Marjorie, William's eyes showed a complicated expression.

"If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave too." With that, Margaret turned and left the CEO's office.

Margaret walked out to find Lucy standing angrily at the door of the CEO's office.

When Lucy saw Margaret come out, her chest burned with anger, and she tried to trip her.

Margaret quickly dodged with her agile reflexes.

"Lucy, didn't my man tell you to leave? Why are you still standing at the door?" Margaret's lips curled into a mocking smile.

Margaret turned to Peter and said, "Peter, doesn't our company prohibit unauthorized personnel from entering? Why don't you quickly escort Lucy out?"

"Margaret, you're kicking me out?" Lucy lost her composure, trembling with anger.

It was one thing for William to dismiss her, but for Margaret to do so? That was unbearable.

Peter, blocking Lucy's path, firmly stated, "Miss Clark, please leave!"

As Lucy's indignant voice echoed behind her, Margaret didn't bother to look back. She calmly returned to the secretary's office, where she sat down, only for the phone to ring almost immediately.

Margaret looked down and saw it was the "888" CEO's direct line.

Frowning, Margaret answered the phone. "William, what now? What do you want?"

On the other end, William's clear voice came through. "Come to the conference room for a meeting."

"A meeting?" Margaret was puzzled.

William said in a deep voice, "The meeting for the Lady Fashion collaboration project."

"Oh, okay," Margaret replied.

When Margaret arrived at the conference room with the materials, William was already seated inside.

He sat at the head of the conference table, wearing a well-tailored black suit, exuding a faint aura of dominance. His facial features were sharp and cold, but he had an elegant and noble demeanor, like a king looking down on everything.

Around the table, Ella, Olivia, and Eloise Sinclair, the designer for the Lady Fashion collaboration project, were already in their seats.

As Margaret entered, everyone's eyes focused on her.

"Don't be late for the next meeting," William said coldly, glancing at Margaret and motioning for her to sit down.

Late?

No one had even informed her about the meeting!

This must be another one of Ella's plots to cause trouble for her again.

Margaret remained silent and found a seat to sit down.

William signaled for the meeting to begin, and Ella cleared her throat and said, "I was in charge of the Lady Fashion collaboration project in its early stages. Margaret will handle the next season. Margaret, please give Mr. Fisher an overview of the project."

She hadn't told Margaret about the meeting at all, so she was sure Margaret certainly hadn't prepared any materials for it.

And the materials related to the Lady Fashion project that she had given Margaret were all minimal and irrelevant to the actual project.

She was sure that Margaret didn't understand the project at all and wouldn't be able to give an overview.

Ella smiled, waiting for Margaret to embarrass herself in front of everyone.

How could Margaret not see through Ella's little tricks?

Margaret calmly stood up. "I'm sorry, no one informed me about this meeting, so I haven't prepared any materials."

"No one informed you?" William asked, puzzled.

"Margaret, for every meeting in our secretary's office, my assistant sends out email notifications. How could no one have informed you about this meeting?" Ella interjected. "Did you forget? How could you forget such an important meeting?"

Everyone knew that William was always strict with his subordinates. If Margaret had neglected to prepare, she would be severely punished, possibly even fired.

Margaret smiled faintly. "I didn't get the memo for real. Emails can be tracked and recovered. I'm not dumb enough to lie about that."

Ella's face changed slightly. Was Margaret calling her stupid?

She looked at William and asked, "Mr. Fisher, since Margaret isn't prepared, should we reschedule the meeting?"

"No need!" Margaret interrupted before William could speak.

William's expression remained calm, but he raised an eyebrow and looked at Margaret with apparent disinterest. "Aren't you unprepared?"

"Indeed, but that doesn't affect the meeting," Margaret said confidently.

Under the weight of everyone's skeptical gazes, Margaret calmly walked to the whiteboard at the front of the conference room, picked up a pen, and began to speak confidently, "I believe that as a project leader, one should be thoroughly familiar with the project and be able to introduce it at any time without the need for special preparation."

Ella gasped. Was Margaret really that arrogant?

Even she, who had been in charge of the Lady Fashion project for nearly a year, couldn't introduce the entire project without any preparation.

Yet here was Margaret, who had only been involved for less than a week, acting as though she had mastered it. What could she possibly say?

Ella was eager to see Margaret embarrass herself in front of William!

William leaned back slightly, his legs casually crossed, and watched Margaret standing confidently at the front with an inscrutable expression.

Could she really introduce the Lady Fashion project without any notes?
