Chapter 174 The Lead to Pryce Holt
Margaret crossed her arms, watching Angel's little act with a smirk playing on her lips.
Honestly, Margaret was kinda shocked. The Marjorie that William was head over heels for turned out to be such a fake? Man, his taste was trash.
William even said she looked like Marjorie. What a load of crap.
Angel kept up her victim act, dabbing at her tears. "William, I fell so hard, it really hurts!"
William's brows knitted together, and he shot a cold look at Margaret. "Margaret, why did you push Marjorie?"
Staring at his familiar, handsome face, Margaret felt like she didn't even know this guy anymore. She stepped forward, her icy gaze locking onto Angel. "Marjorie, you know damn well if I pushed you or not."
Angel played the scared card, shrinking into William's arms, sniffling like a wounded puppy. "Ms. Scott, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I didn't know you were in William's office. I didn't mean to bother you."
"Marjorie, it's not your fault," William said flatly. "Your leg's hurt; I'll take you to the hospital."
Margaret let out a cold laugh and walked off without a backward glance. The scene from earlier kept replaying in her mind, making her heart ache a bit.
'Does William really like this kind of woman?' She used to think she was just a stand-in for Marjorie. Now, comparing herself to such a fake was just insulting.
But something felt off.
According to William, Marjorie had been kidnapped with him years ago. She was supposed to be strong, kind, even willing to sacrifice herself for him. A girl like that should have some noble qualities. How could she turn out so fake now?
Margaret believed that a person's character was pretty much set. Even with environmental influences, it couldn't change that drastically. Something was definitely fishy here.
But she had bigger fish to fry; she needed to find Pryce ASAP. Bradley's illness couldn't wait.
Margaret thought for a moment and dialed Xavier's number. Since Pryce was brought in by Xavier to treat her illness back then, maybe Xavier knew where he was.
Xavier was having a blast surfing at the beach when he got Margaret's call.
"Margaret, what's up?" Xavier's cheerful voice came through the line.
"Grandpa, I need a favor," Margaret said, clearing her throat.
"What's it about?" Xavier asked, stepping onto the sand.
"Remember when I had that high fever as a kid and was in a coma for a long time? I was in the hospital for a month with no luck. Then you brought in Pryce, and he cured me. He even stayed at our place for a few months and taught me a lot about medicine," Margaret asked.
"Yeah, I remember," Xavier said thoughtfully.
"Where's Pryce now?" Margaret asked eagerly.
"I don't know."
Xavier's answer left Margaret bummed out. "Grandpa, come on, think harder."
"Why are you so desperate to find him?" Xavier frowned.
Margaret explained, "Bradley's illness can only be treated by Pryce, so I need to find him ASAP."
"So it's for William again." Xavier stroked his beard. He'd heard about Bradley's heart condition but figured William could handle it.
"Grandpa, is there any way to track down Pryce? Do you know where he lives?" Margaret's tone got more urgent. Bradley's illness needed early treatment, so she had to find Pryce fast.
"He should be in the northeastern part of the country now," Xavier thought for a moment. "He mentioned settling there when he left, but I'm not sure. You can try looking for him there."
"Okay, Grandpa, got it." Margaret nodded and hung up.
Listening to Xavier's words, Margaret suddenly had a lead. She vaguely remembered that during her illness, Pryce had told her many stories about the northeastern part of the country. He seemed to have a thing for that place.
Margaret had a hunch Pryce would be in that area. She decided to go find Pryce herself.
When Margaret got back, Juniper was waiting for her.
"Margaret, you okay?" Juniper got out of the car when she saw Margaret. "I heard from Lyle that you moved into his place."
Margaret smiled faintly. "Yeah. What's up?"
Juniper joked, "What, can't I drop by without a reason?"
Margaret opened the door. "Come in and talk."
"It's about the centerpiece for the next season. I have two designs here. Which one do you think is better?" Juniper opened her laptop, ready to show Margaret the info.
Margaret cut her off, "This can wait. I need to go on a trip to Glacial Crest in the northeastern part of the country. We'll talk about it when I get back."
"Glacial Crest?" Juniper looked up, surprised. "What are you going there for?"
Margaret pursed her lips. "To find Pryce. Only he can save Bradley now."
Margaret briefly explained the situation with Pryce to Juniper. Juniper sighed, "Margaret, it's for William, isn't it?"
Margaret was taken aback. "No way. I feel responsible for Bradley's condition. I just want him to get better so I can feel better. What does this have to do with William?"
"Alright, then I'll go with you," Juniper insisted, not feeling cool with Margaret going to the wilderness alone.
Margaret shook her head. "No need. You should go back to Fleurancia. Leo Studio can't do without you."
"The team can handle the studio," Juniper insisted. "It's too risky for you to go to such a place alone."
"Alright then," Margaret thought for a moment and didn't refuse. "Book two tickets now, the sooner the better."
"Okay," Juniper agreed readily, opening her phone to book the tickets. Suddenly, a few notifications popped up.
"Margaret, look..." Juniper looked up at Margaret, her voice filled with concern.
