Chapter 151 The Grand Return

Amidst a round of wild applause, Ulysses got up with a grin plastered on his face. "Thanks, everyone! Thanks for your support!"

He waved his hand to get everyone to chill, cleared his throat, and said in a deep voice, "I'm heartbroken about what happened to William. But now's not the time to mope around. The Fisher Group is Bradley's life's work. With him being super sick and William MIA, we can't let this century-old legacy crumble. Since y'all trust me, I gotta step up and take on this heavy load."

A sharp-eyed reporter jumped in, "Mr. Young, did Bradley Fisher give you the green light to be the next president of the Fisher Group?"

The Fisher Group was Bradley's baby, and as the big boss, he had the final say on who got to be president. Without Bradley's nod, Ulysses would be just a poser.

Ulysses flashed a confident smile. "Absolutely, this is Bradley's call too."

"Then why isn't he here today?" the reporter pressed on.

Ulysses' eyes flickered. "Because of William's situation, Bradley had a heart attack and is in a really bad way, so he couldn't make it. He's put me in charge of handling everything for the Fisher Group."

Watching Ulysses strut his stuff on stage, Margaret smirked sarcastically. Looked like Ulysses was itching for William to kick the bucket, but too bad, his plan flopped.

Margaret glanced at her phone; still no word from William. He went to save Bradley; she hoped nothing went south.

While Ulysses kept yapping, Margaret took off her sunglasses and gave Peter a nod. Peter got the hint and marched towards the stage, glaring at Ulysses. "Ulysses can't take over as president of the Fisher Group!"

This sudden outburst made everyone turn their heads to Peter. Everyone knew Peter was William's right-hand man.

"What’s that supposed to mean?" a reporter shot back.

Peter stayed cool. "Exactly what it sounds like."

Seeing Peter pop up out of nowhere, Ulysses' face twisted. 'Why's Peter flipping the script?'

"Mr. Fisher is just missing. As long as we haven't found him, there's still hope. Why are you so quick to replace him?" Peter's cold eyes locked onto Ulysses.

Ulysses forced a smile, walked up to Peter, and patted his shoulder. "I know you're torn up about William's accident, and I'm just as crushed. I watched William grow up. But we gotta face facts. After William's accident, we did everything to find him, but what did we get? Nothing! William's fate is still up in the air!"

"Since his fate is unknown, it means Mr. Fisher could still be alive. Ulysses, are you that desperate?" Peter sneered.

Ulysses frowned and signaled to the security guards. The security guards got the hint and moved in. "Peter, time to bounce!"

Peter ignored them, staring daggers at Ulysses. "What? Feeling guilty, huh?"

"What kind of crap are you spewing?" Ulysses snapped.

Peter raised his voice. "Crap? If you were legit taking over the Fisher Group with Bradley's blessing, why'd you try to bribe me?"

He whipped out a check and waved it around. "This has your John Hancock on it."

With no word from William, Peter's game plan was to stall.

Peter's bombshell sent the crowd buzzing.

"Something's fishy here!"

"Does Ulysses really have Bradley's go-ahead? If so, why would Peter call him out for bribery?"

"Peter, quit stirring the pot, or I'll have to deal with you!" Ulysses' eyes flashed cold. He couldn't let Peter wreck his scheme now.

"You know if I'm stirring the pot or not. Ulysses, better back off while you can!" Peter said, each word like a dagger.

Ulysses waved to the security guards. "What are you waiting for? Get him outta here!"

The guards exchanged a look and moved to grab Peter.

Ulysses cleared his throat and tried to regain control. "Alright, folks, let's get back to it. I hereby announce that from now on, I am the acting president of the Fisher Group!"

Just then, a cold, clear voice rang out from the entrance. "Ulysses, hate to break it to you, but that's not happening!"

It was William!

Margaret's heart, which had been in knots, finally relaxed. William had made it; he must've saved Bradley.

"Mr. William Fisher!"

"Mr. William Fisher is safe! He's back!"

William's entrance caused a stir, and everyone gawked at the man standing at the doorway.

Under the conference hall lights, William looked like he was glowing, exuding a powerful vibe as he strode towards the podium. He glanced at Margaret in the corner and gave a slight smile.

Margaret made a thumbs-up gesture.

"William? You're alive?" Ulysses stammered, his face a mix of shock and disbelief.

Ulysses had planned everything but never saw this coming! He was so close to winning; how could it all fall apart now?

William shot a cold look at Ulysses, his lips curling slightly. "What? Uncle Ulysses, not happy to see me?"

"Of course I am, William. I'm just thrilled you're back." Ulysses forced a smile and patted William's shoulder, trying to play it cool. "I've had people searching for you non-stop. Now that you're safe, I'm relieved."

"In that case, let's call off today's press conference!" William said, looking around calmly.
