Chapter 169 Margaret Moves Out

"Who's this guy?" William squinted, pushing for more info.

Patterson glanced at Bradley's heart monitor before spilling the beans, "Pryce used to be this legendary medical genius. He was a miracle worker, curing folks left and right. But then, twenty years ago, he just vanished."

"Vanished?" William's face got all serious, his voice urgent. "Where can I find him now?"

Patterson shook his head, looking bummed. "I got no clue. No one does."

The hope William had felt just fizzled out. His lips tightened into a thin line. After a beat, he asked, "What went down twenty years ago?"

Patterson sighed, "I don't know the details. My mentor said something big happened, and it hit Pryce hard. Since then, he's been MIA. People have tried to track him down, but nothing has come out of it. It's been so long, no one knows where he is or if he's even alive."

William's face darkened, his brows knitting together. He looked down at the unconscious Bradley, his fingers clenching into fists.

Even if Pryce was on the other side of the planet, he had to find him, and fast! Bradley couldn't wait; he couldn't just sit around while his grandpa stayed in a coma.

The helplessness was eating him alive. William was about to call Peter to get a search party going when the ward door swung open. James walked in, looking worried. "Mr. Fisher, how's Bradley?"

William's eyes dimmed, and he replied flatly, "Same old, still out cold."

Seeing how worn out William looked, James felt a pang of sympathy. He walked over and said, "Mr. Fisher, don't stress too much. Bradley's always been a fighter; he'll pull through."

William nodded uncommitedly.

James went on, "Mr. Fisher, you've been here non-stop. You need to rest. I'll watch over Bradley."

William shook his head. "I want to stay with my grandpa."

James patted his shoulder. "I get it, but what if you get sick too? Bradley wouldn't want you to wreck your health. Trust me, go rest. I'll call you if anything changes."

William thought it over. "Alright, I'll leave him in your hands, James."

James had been with Bradley for ages and was always loyal. With James on watch, William felt a bit better. He gave a few instructions to the bodyguards at the door before heading out.

Sitting in Lyle's car, Margaret stared out the window, her mind racing. Taking a deep breath, she looked down at the ring on her finger. It was the ring William had given her when he proposed.

Memories came flooding back. William shielding her from danger, risking his life for her, his romantic proposal.

'If he doesn't love me, why does he do all this for me? Is it just 'cause I look like Marjorie?' Margaret rubbed her temples, trying to shake off the messy thoughts.

Right now, Bradley's illness was the top priority. Since William wouldn't let her see Bradley, she'd have to find another way.

Taking off the ring quietly, Margaret glanced at Lyle and said, "Lyle, can you do me a solid?"

"Of course," Lyle agreed without even asking what she needed.

Margaret's voice dropped. "Help me find a place, just buy it straight up. I wanna move in ASAP."

Since she and William had called off their engagement, she had no reason to stick around Water Moon Estate.

Lyle grinned. "No need for that. I got an apartment in East Garden. If you don't mind, you can crash there anytime."

"Thanks." Margaret's eyes narrowed slightly as she leaned back in her seat.

Lyle hesitated for a sec before saying, "I thought you'd leave Ravenford to clear your head."

The Margaret he knew would have left gracefully after getting betrayed by her fiancé. But now, Margaret was staying in Ravenford. Was she still hung up on William?

Margaret's breath hitched. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Bradley's still in the hospital. I feel partly responsible for his condition. I can't just bail like nothing happened."

Lyle's eyes flickered with a hint of sadness, and he nodded. "Don't worry, Bradley will be fine."

The two stayed quiet as Lyle drove Margaret to Water Moon Estate.

"Margaret, is this the place?" Lyle asked as he stopped the car.

Margaret snapped out of her thoughts. "Yeah, Lyle, wait for me."

Margaret opened the door to a quiet house. At this time, William was probably still at the hospital.

Walking to her room on the second floor, Margaret felt a bit dazed. The space felt hauntingly unfamiliar, even though it was just one night she had stayed out of it. She had lived here for over a month, creating many beautiful memories. Now, she had to leave.

Margaret thought she would leave calmly and gracefully, but now, her heart felt heavy. Memories of her time with William flooded her mind uncontrollably. Each scene was so clear, as if it had happened yesterday.

William was the first man to make Margaret's heart flutter. She had genuinely given her heart to him and wanted to spend her life with him. But she had been foolish, giving her heart to the wrong person.

William already had Marjorie, and now, he was probably with her. Why should she stay and torment herself?

Pulling herself together, Margaret quickly packed her things into her suitcase.

Carrying her suitcase, she walked downstairs. Just as she was about to leave, she heard the sound of keys turning in the lock.

Margaret instinctively stopped. Her heart skipped a beat. 'Could it be William coming back?'
