Chapter 437 Dane Mediates
"Mom, I'm fine," Juniper said awkwardly, giving Madeline a look, hoping she'd stop talking.
But Madeline, still upset, pretended not to see Juniper's look and continued, "Look at you, you've lost so much weight! You never looked this worn out when you were at home. Why don't you come back with me for a few days to rest?"
Dione understood the implication behind Madeline's words, and her expression changed.
Madeline beckoned Juniper over, "Juniper, I brought your favorite candied fruit. I just made it a few days ago."
"Your parents aren't here to take care of you, so you need to look after yourself. You're not alone anymore. Taking care of a patient is exhausting, and you're pregnant. You need to be taken care of, not the other way around. Don't try to be a hero."
Her words implied that Juniper shouldn't undervalue herself and wasn't there to be a nanny for the Hall family.
Dione responded coldly, "Samuel is in this condition because of Juniper. She's here because she volunteered to be; she owes Samuel! She owes the Hall family!"
Madeline couldn't hold back anymore and slammed the table, "Is this how the Hall family treats people? Bullying a pregnant woman?"
"Juniper is carrying on the Hall family name, and instead of being grateful, you treat her like this? Do you have any conscience?"
Dione glared at Madeline, "No matter what Juniper does, it's her choice. Even if she was a princess in your family, she chose to come to the Hall family to serve us!"
"The Hall family is prestigious, and Samuel is exceptional. Juniper is lucky to be with him, of course, she has to pay a price. Besides, being pregnant before marriage isn't something to be proud of."
"If it were any other family of our status, they wouldn't even let her in the door, they'd be ashamed of her!"
"You... you... you!"
Dione's harsh words left Madeline trembling with anger. She stood up, pointing at Dione, unable to speak.
"It's all because of Samuel! Juniper is the victim here!"
Madeline grabbed Juniper's hand, ready to leave, "Juniper, let's go."
"Mrs. Hayes, you're here?"
Just as the tension was about to explode, Dane entered, interrupting Madeline.
He had been listening at the door and, hearing the argument, quickly stepped in to mediate.
"Juniper should have told me you were coming. I would have sent a driver to pick you up. Why are you standing? Please, sit down."
"Juniper, help your mom sit down."
"Mom, please sit," Juniper said softly. Madeline, still angry, held onto Juniper, wanting to leave.
Seeing Madeline's displeasure, Dane continued, "Juniper has been a great help these past few days, taking care of everything. We couldn't manage without her."
"Samuel's subconscious has been recovering, and he keeps calling for Juniper. No one else can calm him down."
"Juniper is a strong girl, very capable. My wife and I have been saying how grateful we are."
"That's why Dione is upset. She feels Samuel doesn't appreciate her, only Juniper."
Dane's words praised Juniper and explained Dione's bad mood.
Dione, hearing this, stormed out in anger.
Madeline, feeling somewhat appeased, sat back down, still holding Juniper's hand.
"Mr. Hall, it's not that I'm angry. We care about our daughter just as much as you care about your son. I didn't raise her for over twenty years to have her serve others," Madeline said, frowning.
"I understand, I understand. Have you had lunch yet?" Seeing Madeline's tone soften, Dane asked with concern.
"I ate on the plane," Madeline replied.
Dane opened the bag he brought, "Juniper, you haven't eaten yet, right? I had the chef prepare lunch for you and your mom. Here, have some. You said you wanted something sour, so I brought vinegar."
"Thank you. The pregnancy cravings have been strong, and sour food helps," Juniper said, taking the lunchbox.
Dane pulled up a chair and sat across from Madeline.
"Mrs. Hayes, since Juniper is expecting, once Samuel wakes up, we need to start planning their wedding. You know, the Hall family is well-respected in Ravenford. We won't mistreat Juniper."
Dane's words reassured Madeline.
Despite everything, Madeline liked Samuel, and Juniper was pregnant.
But Samuel was still unconscious.
Seeing Madeline's concern, Juniper squeezed her hand, her voice tinged with sadness, "Mom, Samuel will wake up soon."
The weekend arrived in a flash.
Morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on the bed.
Margaret woke up groggily and was about to get up when she saw William's tall figure leaning against the doorframe.
"What are you doing at my door?" Margaret gave him a look.
William stepped inside, "We're visiting Grandpa today. Did you forget?"
"Oh no!" Margaret slapped her cheeks. She had indeed forgotten.
She had been up late preparing for the fashion design competition and completely forgot about the visit.
Margaret looked up at William, "You go out first, I'll be right there."
She hurriedly got up, had breakfast, and went to Fisher Manor with William.
Bradley was already waiting for them at Fisher Manor.
Seeing William's car, Bradley hobbled over with his cane.
"Grandpa, take it easy," William said, helping Bradley.
"Margaret, you look tired. Is William bullying you?" Bradley asked, seeing Margaret's weary face.
Margaret quickly shook her head and smiled, "No, I just didn't sleep well."
"If William ever bullies you, don't hesitate to tell me. I'll set him straight," Bradley said, holding Margaret's hand, his eyes full of affection.
"Thank you!" Margaret felt a warm rush of gratitude.
"Come on, don't stand here. Let's go inside," Bradley said, leading Margaret into Fisher Manor.
William followed them inside.
