Chapter 328 Hypocritical Woman
The next day, after work, Margaret and William went to the hospital to visit Bradley.
Pushing the door open, they saw Patterson performing a routine check-up on Bradley.
Seeing William and Margaret, Patterson quickly stood up and greeted them respectfully, "Mr. William Fisher, Ms. Scott."
"How is Bradley?" Margaret asked with concern.
Patterson quickly replied, "I just finished examining Mr. Bradley Fisher. All his indicators are recovering very well."
Margaret felt very relieved. "That's good to hear."
It seemed that Pryce was right; Bradley's health was gradually improving.
It shouldn't be long before he made a full recovery.
"William, Margaret, you're here," Bradley said, looking much better. "I'm feeling much better and should be able to leave the hospital soon."
"Bradley, you should stay a few more days to rest and recover," Margaret said with a smile.
Bradley stroked his beard. "Staying in the hospital all day is boring. Even if I wasn't sick, I'd get sick from staying here. Besides, you two are getting engaged at the end of the month, and I need to prepare early."
William stepped forward. "Grandpa, don't worry. I'll take care of the engagement preparations. You just focus on getting better, and once you're a bit stronger, I'll bring you home."
Seeing that both Margaret and William were insistent, Bradley didn't argue further.
Bradley chatted with them about the engagement for a while but soon felt a bit tired.
Margaret noticed and quickly said, "Bradley, we should be going. You get some rest."
"Alright, you two go have some fun," Bradley nodded, happy to see them spending time together and building their relationship.
As Margaret and William left the ward, they saw a nurse running towards them in a hurry.
"Mr. Fisher, something's wrong!" the nurse said, panicked.
William frowned. "What's the matter?"
"Angel is threatening to jump off the building!" The nurse said, gasping for breath, while cautiously watching William's reaction.
Margaret smirked and wondered, 'Is Angel, that hypocritical woman, pulling another stunt?'
William's brows furrowed as he instinctively looked at Margaret.
"Let's go see," Margaret said, narrowing her eyes slightly.
Angel must have overheard their engagement plans and was now desperate.
First, it was terminal stomach cancer, and now she was threatening suicide. She never seemed to tire of these antics.
Margaret smiled mockingly, thinking Angel must be getting really desperate.
The more desperate she got and the more stunts she pulled, the easier it would be to see through her.
The truth was getting closer and closer.
Margaret and William followed the nurse to the rooftop, where they saw Angel standing at the edge, wearing a blue and white hospital gown.
Below, a crowd had gathered, all eyes on Angel, pointing and discussing.
"Look, someone is about to jump!"
"That's dangerous, come down!"
"Hey, that woman looks familiar. Isn't she the one from the news, Mr. Fisher's first love, Marjorie?"
"It really is her. Why is she trying to jump?"
The nurse, pale with fear, nervously said to William, "Mr. Fisher, please try to talk Angel down. We've been trying to persuade her for a while, but she won't listen. We've already called the cop, but until they arrive, we need you to help calm her down."
Margaret watched coldly and gave William a look.
"Alright," William said in a deep voice, striding towards Angel.
"Marjorie, what are you doing? Come down!" William's deep eyes fixed on Angel's back, his voice cold.
"William, why are you here?" Angel turned her head, her face pale, looking at him with eyes full of sorrow.
She glanced at Margaret, who stood not far away with a cold expression, her eyes welled up. "William, just let me die! I don't have much time left anyway. If I die, Margaret won't argue with you anymore. I don't want to be the reason you two fight and become an obstacle in your relationship."
"Margaret, please don't be mad at William, okay? It's all my fault. He was just too worried about me," As Angel spoke, she turned her pleading eyes to Margaret, as if Margaret had wronged her greatly.
With Angel's words, the surrounding doctors and nurses who had come to persuade her began to look at Margaret with judgmental eyes.
Especially since many of them were avid internet users and had seen plenty of news about them online.
With Angel's current image as the weak victim, she easily garnered sympathy.
People's minds were complex. No matter whose fault it was, they always tended to side with the weaker party at first glance.
"So, you're saying I'm stealing your man?" Margaret remained calm, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow at Angel.
If it were any other woman, they might have gone crazy, but Margaret faced it with composure.
Angel hid her hatred for Margaret deep in her eyes, took a deep breath, and reminded herself to stay calm.
Since she had chosen this path, there was no turning back.
Therefore, today, she had to succeed.
"No, that's not what I meant. How could William be mine," Angel said, carefully glancing at William, her eyes filled with infatuation.
The implication was clear.
"Marjorie, you..." William's dark eyes flashed with impatience.
He glanced at Margaret, who met his gaze with a faint, mocking smile. He had no choice but to soften his tone towards Angel. "Come down, it's dangerous up there. I've never thought of you as a burden between Margaret and me."
"Really?" Angel, without seeing their interaction, thought William was moved by her act and felt a surge of joy.
She bit her lip and weakly said, "William, you won't abandon me, will you?"
"No," William said slightly, his usually cold face showing a rare hint of gentleness.
This made Angel's heart leap with joy, though her face remained sorrowful. "Forget it, William. I don't want to live anymore; it's too painful. I wanted to bless you and Margaret, but I can't seem to do it. I don't know why it hurts so much inside."
Pausing, Angel began to sob. "I don't understand. I met you first, and you said you'd marry me when we grew up. Maybe it's because I made too many mistakes before, and this is God's way of punishing me."
As she spoke, she stepped back, inching closer to the edge of the rooftop.
Her frail body stood at the very edge, looking as if a gust of wind could blow her over.
She was just one step away from falling.
